Precision Pump Reviews (1)

Review: Precision Pump did not provide adequate reason or estimate for outrageous charges for one hour of work and a service the homeowner assisted with.

Precision Pump came out when I called for a problem with my well. I expected they would come look and then tell us what they would do with a general estimate of charges. I expected they would complete the work themselves. They told us they would pull the pump out, but DID NOT tell us it would cost a base price of $250 to pull it and $250 to put it back in. My husband, the other homeowner, pulled the pipe up the hill for them. They spliced a broken wire to fix it, put it back and all service was completed in one hour. Only then did they tell us it cost $515...$500 full price to pull the pump and put it back and 14.86 for the broken wire + tax. They charged for full labor as if they did all the work themselves which they did not. They charged over $100 PER PERSON PER HOUR -$500 for 3 people for one hour of work. This was done without an estimate and they further did not complete the service by testing the water which is supposed to be done anytime a well is uncapped. These charges for one hour of work that the homeowner assisted with by pulling 300feet of pipe uphill for them is ridiculous and by charging full labor when they had help with the labor from the homeowner is fraud. Not providing an estimate of charges is bad practice. They also did not itemize the labor charge on the receipt. It states simply "Labor, $500." People need to be aware when doing business with this company they do not provide estimates, and they will charge full cost regardless of the labor they themselves actually do.Desired Settlement: We should not have paid the full labor cost of $500 for one hour of labor that the homeowner assisted with. When you charge $500 for one hour of work for pulling the pipe out and putting it back, and the homeowner pulls the pipe 300 feet up the hill for you, the most you should have a right to charge is half labor cost, or at least take a decent chunk of the labor cost off the bill for the help received by the homeowner. Over $100 PER HOUR PER WORKER is a ridiculous charge to being with, but if you are going to charge that high, at least provide the customer with an estimate before completing the service. We deserve to have a minimum of $150 refunded for the amount of labor done by the homeowner himself.

Business' Initial Response

I received you letter dated XXXXXX As I am sure you are aware I am not a member of your organization and am not required to respond. As a courtesy I will address you letter but please be advised I already responded in writing to the message Ms [redacted] she left on my answering machine on the date of service

1. Ms [redacted] was not at home at the time of service

2. Mr [redacted] was home and he signed the hand written invoice we gave him and a check for payment He did not make any verbal complaints in our presence

3. Our usual service call fee to show up and diagnose the problem is $150 WE waived that fee for the [redacted]

4. The labor to pull and reset a pump by hand at the depth of the [redacted] well is $600 We had to pull it by hand because there a building over the well site We could not use an upsey daisey and/or a broom truck to get to it therefore it became a 3 man job vs a 2 man job In addition one of my men received a cut on his head because the building was in the way We gave the [redacted]'s a$100 discount on the labor

5. We used two splice kits but only charged for one

6.We did not receive any significant help from the homeowner He pulled some pipe up the hill of his own accord We did not ask for help

7. We assessed the situation and explained to the homeowner what needed to e done and he agreed to have us do the work

8.We would have gladly provided a written estimate if it had been requested The homeowner did not request one The homeowner was desperate for water and we did our best to get it to him as quickly as possible

9.Testing the water for gpm or potability is not performed nor required unless specifically requested by the customer Mr [redacted] did not ask us to perform any tests on his well

I fell comfortable knowing that we gave MR and Mrs [redacted] $264.00 in discounts and do not feel they were overcharged for the work that was completed on their properly
