State inspection showed faulty headlight. I approved adjustment, during "adjustment" headlight was damaged.[redacted] refused to fix or compensate me. First let me start by saying I have been coming to this business for nearly 10 years and NEVER have I ever been treated so poorly. I came in for a routine oil change and state inspection. My right headlight was found to be aimed too low. I agreed to pay the $10 to "adjust" it. During that process my headlight adjusters were striped so they no long adjust. I called attention to this and at first the owner denied it then he fessed up to it. I told him I did not want to pay for the inspection or the adjustment because he broke the screw. He replied that I would need to take that up with [redacted] and walked away. His unprofessional & dishonest manner is beyond upsetting and disappointing. Desired SettlementI would like either Presicision tune to fix and adjust my headlight or compensation for my damage or for him to reimburse my money for the failed inspection and headlight adjustment. Business Response Ms. [redacted] came in today for an oil change and a NC State Inspection. During the course of checking the headlight aim (part of passing a NC State inspection) we found that the right headlight was pointing towards the ground (way out of aim); the left headlight was out of aim only slightly. We advised Ms. [redacted] of the problem and she was not happy about us charging ten dollars to adjust the headlights, but stated to go ahead. During the performance of following the prescribed procedure to adjust the headlights we found that the right headlight adjustor would not turn and the plastic cap that surrounds it came off in our hand. There is no other procedure for adjustment than to turn that cap. Without taking the plastic headlight assembly completely apart we cannot determine the cause of the problem precisely; however, the age of 13 years, road vibration and the fact that the components are made out of plastic that deteriorates over time would be the most likely cause. If there is a procedure that we incorrectly followed to create the situation we would have corrected the problem immediately without charge and an apology. However, following procedure we cannot be responsible for the ravages of time. We advised her to have the dealer document anything that was wrongly performed and we will then agree to correct the problem. We do not feel that will be the case since we even showed Ms. [redacted] the documented procedure for adjusting the headlights. Please feel free to contact us with any further questions.Consumer Response I was unable to respond before 11/19. According to NC State law,[redacted] was supposed to have me sign authorization for repairs on my inspection form. I never signed nor received the form. This making him liable for any damage. If you let me borrow your bike and I ride it according to the manufacturer, I break the chain then hand it back to you & say take it up with [redacted] does that make it right? I am not expecting a new transmission just a simple headlight fix. Business Response I think that you are forgetting that you already had a problem before we attempted to adjust the headlight; it was pointing at the ground indicating that there already was a problem with the headlight assembly. If you handed me a bike in good condition and I damaged it you have every right to expect me to repair it. But we did not break any components on your headlight that white plastic adjustor comes off, it is only used to facilitate adjusting the light it actually pops on and off. So if I had driven your vehicle for years then I would then want to help you take care of the wear and tear on your vehicle. Also, since you are posting complaints in more than one location you show that you are out for blood. ("I agree with [redacted].") Signing or not signing the form does not make me liable for your vehicle in any way shape or form. It only verifies that you gave us permission to work on your vehicle, which you also did when you signed the original work order. I am willing, if you buy the headlight assembly to install it and adjust it for you no charge to split your loss for you.

I have an issue with the repair service that I received from Precision Tune on September 3rd 2015. On September 3rd 2015, I took my vehicle that was running hot to Precision to see if they could repair the damage. The car was running hot because there was a huge water leak that I explained to [redacted], the co-owner. He stated that they needed to diagnose the issue. I arrived at 8:15am. They charged me $60 for the diagnosis which they stated read that there was a problem with the radiator which in return made my engine run hot and a new radiator would fix the issue. They charged me $700 for the parts and labor. I recently got a quote from the Honda Dealership that did not cost that much money. I had not realized that water was still running from under my vehicle. I thought they had fixed the peoblem. I drove my to Raleigh NC on Sepeber 8th and the car ran hot again. The next day I took it back to Precision where they tried to say that they did not see any issues. They test drove it and re-diagnosed it and they found nothing. As I started to leave [redacted] asked to speak with my boyfriend and he showed him water leaking from the water pump which was the original thing I asked him to check on September 3rd. He then stated that to fet it fixed he would charge me another $700. I left. I think I should be refunded my money because Precision Tune did not fix the issue that they were supposed to nor did they offer once they finally figured it out after I paid $700. I had to get another mechanic to fixMy vehicle and I feel that a reimbursement from the business is fair. I explained to them a water leak and they did not check the leak at all which was th entire reason my vehicle persisted to overheat.Desired SettlementThe resolution that I would like to happen is that Precision Tume will refund me the charges since they wrongly diagnosed my vehicle and did not fix the issue because I had to pay another mechanic to fix what should have been fixed t Precision.Business Response /[redacted]/On 9/3/15 Ms. [redacted]'s Honda came in our shop so severely overheated that the radiator was melted, the radiator cap was melted and the overflow jug cap was melted. She was advised of this problem and that we would not be able to check thermostat operation or water pump operation until after a new radiator was installed since coolant was coming as fast as you could pour it in due to the melted radiator. We recommended upper and lower radiator hoses since they were very old and they partially had to come loose to install a new radiator. After the repair the vehicle was pressure tested, block leak tested and thermostat and water pump operation was watched as we ran the vehicle for over a half hour following the repairs. No further problems were noticed at that time however we advised the customer that other problems may crop up over time following a severely overheated engine. Seven hundred and fifteen miles later and six days later she brought the vehicle back as it had started running hot again. The vehicle was only a pint low on coolant at the time of arrival and while operating the vehicle inside the shop it did not overheat. However; we noticed that with the AC on the vehicle would run hotter than normal and that the fan for the condenser was not coming on. By this time we had operated the vehicle in the shop for nearly an hour and noticed that it had started leaking coolant from under the timing cover. If the water pump had been leaking the whole time it would have run out of coolant seven hundred miles earlier. If it had leaked the day that we originally worked on it we would have advised Ms. [redacted] of the problem at that time. For the $689.40 she paid for she received diagnosis, a radiator, a radiator cap an overflow jug cap, a upper radiator hose, a lower radiator hose, an oil change and antifreeze. She did not pay $700 for a radiator. The radiator itself part and labor was $346.56. We do not feel we owe Ms. [redacted] a refund a we repaired the coolant leak that was occurring that day. We also offered Ms. [redacted]'s representative ten percent off of the water pump repair and no charge on the antifreeze; which would ultimately have been slightly less than if we had done the water pump the same day as the radiator. Here at this shop we do not try to sell people repairs that we do not see as defective at the moment in time in which we perform the initial diagnosis. We do however; try our best to advise our customers about the information necessary to make informed decisions about the repair on their vehicles.Consumer Response /[redacted]/I see the papers that were given; however my car was still running hit once I left the shop that day that he supposedly rechecked everything and it was supposed to be fine. I told him about a water leakThe first day before I payed my money and they failed to check that portion of my engine which later was diagnosed as the problem. Showing receipts do not help at all. I would still like to be refunded because the issue was not fixed. Final Business Response /[redacted]/The issue that was occurring that day was repaired otherwise you would have had the problem 700 miles earlier. We advised you the day that your vehicle left that you may have other problems in the future that only time would tell due to the extreme overheating that occurred (melting of the radiator, radiator cap and overflow jug cap). We cannot predict the future; we can only advise you of what we see going on at that time, and it was plainly documented on your paperwork. The water pump only started leaking, once we were getting ready to pull your vehicle out after watching it and driving it. It was leaking a lot and would have caused a problem on the day that it left the first time. The vehicle was correctly repaired the first time, and a new problem occurred 700 miles later, which we offered to repair at a discounted rate. Final Consumer Response /[redacted]/(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)Absolutely untruthful! The water was leaking out of the water pump the same day that I left and the car ran hit several days later, meaning that the issue was never fixed. The radiator had nothing to do with the overheated system and that's definitely not what I told you all th fix that day. You said you would fix my car so that it wouldn't overheat. There is no way I drove 709 miles in 5 days when I was not working. I still would like a refund since the issue had to be fixed elsewhere.
