Review: On, March 11, 2015 we had an appointment for our son. We were interested in obtaining contact lenses for him. During the process of the appointment the Doctor wanted to do an exam for both contacts and glasses. When my wife questioned whether the insurance would cover both exams, and said I cant afford to pay for an extra exam. The Doctor said, Dont worry about it the girls will figure it out and he proceeded to continue with both exams. She was led to believe that they would accept whatever the insurance would pay. Our son tried a trial pair of contacts for several weeks and unfortunately they caused irritation to his eyes and he was called to the office at school on several occasions because there was concern he was on drugs. He had a follow up appointment on April 17, 2015 and he did not wear his contacts due to the problems. He told the Doctor that he did not want the contacts because they did not work and that he wanted glasses. The Doctor told him they could keep trying trial pairs to see what works; my son told him he knows the glasses work. So we proceeded with new lenses for his glasses as he liked his current glasses. So they proceeded with the measurements and advised there would be a $15 charge that the insurance would not cover, which we said okay. It was either that night or the following day the office called to advise us that there would be a charge for the exam for contacts because the insurance would not cover both. I called back and questioned what the Doctor meant by the above statement and the staff did not have an answer. They kept saying that the Doctor offered him other options of trial pairs for contacts. I pointed out and if they cause irritations he would again end back in the office at school. When I pressed the issue about the Doctors statement all he would say through his staff is the services were rendered, so we owed the extra exam fee. I asked who I could file a complaint to and I was told the Doctor. I asked if he was available and was told he was not. I gave my cell phone number and asked to have him contact me. This was Monday, April 20, 2015 and I have yet to hear from him. Tonight we picked up his glasses and they attempted to collect the charge for the contact exam and I advised them that I would not be paying it as I had not heard back from the Doctor.Desired Settlement: We currently have not paid the $38 charge for the exam for contacts. He was willing to write off the charge if he bought the contacts. The Doctor needs to stick by his word and waive the charge. If he would of told us he was charging for both exams we would of refused the one exam.
