Review: In late June my husband [redacted] called Preferred Flooring (owner [redacted]) to lay some wood floor in our family room. We bought our wood floor (maple) from [redacted] a couple days prior to calling [redacted] to come and measure our family room. When his installer came and install the floor he said the floor was defective and suggest that we return the floor back to [redacted]. We did that and bought new wood floor at another store but since the store have to order the transition, the installer would intall the new wood floor and come back to install the transition when the transition comes in. The store called us a in the middle of July to pick the transtion. We then called Preferred Flooring to tell them to come back and install the transition. [redacted] the owner told us he would have the installer come back out to do that on a Monday, I don't remember the exact date..maybe July 15th. He never show up. We call the owner back and told him the installer didn't show up, he told us that it was because the installer had a car problem (he should've call and told us that the day of). [redacted] the owner then said he will get this taken care for us. He never show up again. Last week, end of July my husband called [redacted] back [redacted] told my husband [redacted] that he had to fire the intaller [redacted] because he gets too many complaints and he would come to our house himself on Saturday August 3rd around 9:00 a.m. He never show up. My nusband called him around 11:00 a.m. asking where he was. He told my husband he should be at our house in 30 minutes and he's currently in the middle of something so he'll call my husband [redacted] back. He never call back. My husband call him again and he didn't answer. Today, Tuesday August 6th, I called [redacted] and ask why he didn't show up. This time he claim that he was out of town and his installer should've come. He told my husband that he fire that guy because of the lousy work he did. Now he is telling me that same installer should've come. He is lying to us. He said he would come this coming Friday morning. He has been lying to us so many time we don't believe a word he is saying now. Because of all this back and forth, my house is still a mess, I can't even put them back in order. I have small children at home and this is very frustrating that we can't put our house together because of his lies. We told him that the installer need to come back and fix where the heating vent is at (on the floor) because he made the opening too narrow we can't put the cover on. Also we noticed that by the wall, the installer left a very big space between the wall and the floor that even the base trim can't cover it. There is also a plank in the middle of the room that is not even with the rest.Desired Settlement: come back and fix the problem, install the transition floor asap..or refund money for lousy work and delay

Review: [redacted] owner of Preferred Flooring Company came to our house and quoted us a price on flooring, new doors, and new stairs. I quickly realized that I needed to send him emails after each visit to document what pricing was quoted and what was all included. He was constantly forgetting what we talked about. Based on availability of other installers, we decided to go ahead with the project and he said he could start that same week and should have our project completed within that week. That is where the problems started. On numerous occasions [redacted] and his crew were a no call, no show. We were constantly struggling with having his people show up, If they showed up at all, they were always late, and when we called, his answer was always, they will be there tomorrow. Excuses followed excuses on why he couldn't show up. Or why he couldn't fix anything. He promised us an engineered hardwood that could be sanded once, and the flooring we received was not of that variety. He promised us a mid grade underlayment, and we received the lowest grade underlayment he could find. His solution was to double up the underlayment he installed with a film as a moisture barrier, however we insisted upon the midgrade, selitac, underlayment that we were promised. He did fulfill his promise of taking up the flooring that was installed incorrectly and did end up installing the selitac underlayment under the small amount of flooring that was previously installed. This was the last day that [redacted] or his crew have been at our home which was September 12, 2014. When [redacted] stopped calling and coming I took it upon myself to call the manufacturer of the flooring to see if I could get the product so that I could complete my project. I was told by Casabella Hardwood that they only sell to distributors. I gave them the zipcode of [redacted]'s business address and by chance ended up getting the phone number of the very same distributor that [redacted] uses (Prosource in Milwaukee, WI)). When I contacted them they also told me that they do not sell to private consumers. When I explained my circumstance, they asked who my installer was and when I shared [redacted] Luke's name with them, they stated that they are familiar with him and could I please hold. After several minutes they came back on the line and told me that [redacted] would be contacting us that day. Within the hour he contacted my husband, stated that he would be at our home the next day to complete the installation of the flooring. Not surprisingly he did not show up, nor did he call. I did, however, receive a call from [redacted] at Prosource asking me if I was still interested in the product because [redacted] told him that he was no longer working with us and that they should restock the product and credit his account.

To date, we have flooring for 1/3 of the area that was originally agreed upon (nor do we have the remainder of the product to complete the flooring installation), we have doors that are installed, but do not close the way that they are supposed to, we have wood product that is stained, but have not been coated with polyurethane as promised, we have trim that is poorly installed (does not meet at the mitred corners and has large nail holes that are visible and even some nails that are sticking out of the wood. We do not have a newly installed stair case as promised.

Now we are at the point of finding a new installer so that we can complete and fix some of the work that he has been incorrectly/inadequately completed. We are looking for somebody to fix the doors that [redacted]'t close the way that they should and finish the trim work that is incomplete and poorly installed . When we were in the process of choosing the flooring to be installed, [redacted] assured us that the engineered hardwood that we chose was able to be refinished as needed in the future. We had another installer come to give an estimate for completion of our project and were informed that the product he installed was not able to be refinished also thinking about changing the flooring that he has already installed to allow us the option to resurface in the future. We have small kids and a dog and feel this option will be invaluable to us down the road. I have recently emailed [redacted] asking for email confirmation that he has no intention of finishing this job and have not heard anything back from him.Desired Settlement: To date we have paid [redacted] $2,700 ($1,100 by check and $1,600 by visa). We are looking to get a full refund or at lease a partial refund for the incomplete and inadequately completed work, not to mention hours spent trying to resolve this issue.

We were given a total project cost of $5,799 ($3,999 for flooring, project including removal of old carpeting, $1,100 for prep and installation of doors and hardware, and $700 for installation of stairs ).

Review: I hired them to do work on a duplex in Milwaukee. I paid them $8159 to get the place ready for renters. At first everything went well then everything fell apart. They didn't finish more than 80% of the work. They sent photos to show progress but when we went into the upper unit we discovered holes in the walls and absolutely nothing was done. They had sent us photos of the other unit saying they were of the upper unit and needed to be paid for it. Additionally, they didn't do work that the city had said to do resulting in fines and they threw all the construction debris in the yard resulting in another fine from the city. Total fines were nearly $1000 due to the city. They admit they didn't do the work and still refuse to pay us back for work not completed. I have photos, cancelled checks and records of communication if desired.Desired Settlement: I tried to work with them for nearly 3 months to get the job finished that was scheduled to be complete July 1st. I now just want my money back so I can hire someone to actually complete the work not completed by D@D plus the penalties assessed by the city due to the actions or lack of actions by D@D Flooring. Total work not done or done such that has to be redone $5390 plus city fines of $934 for a total of $6324.
