I believe that the photos of the damage should be shared with Roofing and the Revdex.com prior to requesting that I replace rotten wood on the chimneyI am willing to pay the cost of a sheet of T-that was damaged by installing shingles The homeowner should have it professionally installed correctly so that it meets code and will not rot again With the siding incorrectly installed, water damaged and rotten it should have been replaced previously

This is a response to the complaint from ***y *** at *** *** *** Ms*** contacted her salesman* ***, regarding here issueOnce he relayed it to the office *** scheduled to have the issue taken care ofThere was about a week delay in getting someone out there and we fixed

I am rejecting this response because: I had no issues with water coming into my house before the re-roofWhen the Twas damaged during the re-roof it should have been brought to my attention at that timeI still think that when the estimator came out to give me a quote on the re-roof since he was on the roof making sure and measuring for he should have brought this issue to my attentionAll he had to do was say you have an issue here and it might present potential problems and then I could have fixed it beforehandOr when the roofers were installing the roof and started damaging the Tthey should have brought it to my attention instead of just saying your roof is good we are doneIt is not hard to bring up problems to a customerSince the wood was damaged (I didn't have leaks before the re-roof) I do expect this to be repairedI am not asking them to rebuild the entire chimney all I am asking for is for them to replace the side that was damaged during their job and to insure that the flashing is properly installedIt would be unfortunate to let this problem ruin an otherwise great job.

Mr***, I wish that you had been as open to discussion previously as you are now. The Revdex.com is a great organization to resolve issues between consumers and businesses but too often people go straight to them in an attempt to punish a business or contractor. Our A+ rating is because we do the right thing and work hard for our customersMany issues can be corrected through simple discussion. You and I had a brief discussion at my office and I then followed up with an emailYou chose to go to the Revdex.com rather than discuss further. You have put all fault on my estimator and crew for not telling you about your siding and the damage that occurred. I agree whole heartily that whomever was working in that area when your siding broke should have said something and noticed at walk through. We are human and make mistakes and I will use at as a teaching moment. I certainly want you to be happy with your roof and the work that we did. Preferred Roofing did not intentionally damage your siding from haphazard workmanship or incompetence. It was basically like the store where “You break it you buy it.” The siding would have never been an issue had it been installed correctly in the first place and not rotten. I believe I mentioned before that the three other sides of the chimney are probably in the same condition and need to be replaced. I do not understand how you expect me to remove the trim and siding on one side of the chimney and not have the same issue of siding shredding apart on the other existing three panels? Because of this I offered money to have it replaced by the contractor of your choosing. I have always wanted to be reasonable and make you happy with Preferred Roofing but holding me responsible for “Damaging” something by touching it seems opportunistic. I feel that replacing that one side of siding is going to require that the other panels be replaced as they fall apart from rot. Your flashing very well could be in bad condition behind the siding. Our inspection of the flashing that lays on the roof decking is only part of the pictureWe inspect and if found to be in good shape complete the new shingle process. On occasion after a re-roof customers have to rebuild their chimney’s because the siding and flashing are deteriorating. They do not want to have to do this because removing the siding and replacing is costly just trying to get to the flashingThe replacement of your chimney siding will not impact your warranty for the re-roof as long as it is done by a competent person that understands current code. They should be able to do so without impacting the roof. I as well hope and pray that you see what is right by accepting the money that I am offering to pay to have the siding replaced in the affected areaWe will stand behind our warranty and continue to do so through the next years

Mr*** claims that he called our office several times and did not receive a return call. At the point of him coming to my office I had no record of him calling nor was I ever given a message. Because of that I apologized for the issue and proceeded to discuss the issue at hand.
My *** told me that he needed someone to come out and fix his chimney because we "Beat Holes in it." That sounded strange and a somewhat exaggerated statement. I continued to listen and he told me that his *** ** *** went on the roof and told him that there were holes in his sidingHis *** ** *** then applied some type of sealant to the chimney in order to prevent the leak. Mr*** explained that the leak was dripping inside of his fireplace and that he could hear the dripHe finally got his phone and showed me photos of his chimney in order to prove to me that we beat holes in it. I explained to Mr*** that the drip that he is hearing inside of the chimney has got to be his chimney cap or spark arrestor. If the chimney was leaking where the alleged siding was damaged it would show up inside the home and not inside the actual chimney.Mr***'s chimney does not have holes in it. The chimney was sided by someone that clearly does not understand code. There is a required flashing reveal at the bottom of a sided chimney that requires that siding not go all of the way down to the shingles and touch them. The reason that siding should not sit down on the shingles is because as water runs down the shingles it will "Wick" into the wood and cause it to rotMr*** finally showed me the photos of the chimney clearly showing where the bottom edge where it is touching the shingles is disintegrating due to water damage and rot. While removing shingles around his chimney we had to pull them out from under this rotten wood. There was no "Banging Holes" in the chimney. We simply removed the shingles and parts of the chimney siding where rotted sheared off. Mr*** asked if I was going to fix his chimney. I explained that his chimney siding sitting on the shingles, being water logged and rotten was not something I was going to fix. This is a case of improper installation and poor or no maintenance performed. Preferred Roofing contracted to re-roof his house not to rebuild his chimney. My estimators are trained to give the proper information. We were there to provide a roof quote not a chimney rebuild quote. Preferred Roofing did not create a leak? The rotten siding is showing but not causing a leak inside of the chimney. Again, a leak inside a chimney is not due to re-roof work. Mr*** should replace the rotten siding on his chimney and if the chimney leaks around the flashed base I will warranty that. Until the siding on the chimney is addressed by the homeowner there is no way to determine if there is a roof issue. Mr*** gave me only one choice prior to him walking out which was to fix his chimney. I am not willing to replace the water damaged siding on his chimney that is a result of improper siding installationProperly installed siding that was structurally sound and not rotten would have not sheared and splintered from us removing shinglesThe attached photo shows the siding sitting down on the shingles. Mr*** has photos of the damaged siding that I do not have

The response is not correct. It took over month and phone calls - with no action - before I filed my complaint with the Revdex.com. I did not say I acted too quickly. After my complaint was sent I then received a call to set up a time to make the necessary repairs. The gentleman I spoke with from Preferred Roofing told me my calls/work order had "slipped through the cracks". At this point, someone was sent to inspect the problem, repairs were made quickly and I am pleased with the results. *** did call to inquire about my satisfaction and I told her that since the repairs were completed I would be more than happy to withdraw the complaint

I am rejecting this response because: When it comes down to it the point is when you were quoting the re-roof your estimator should have brought this to my attention. When your crew was installing it they should have brought it to my attention. Basically right now neither one of us knows if the flashing is good or not. Inspecting for good flashing is part of the repair correct? And replacing it would be part of you doing the re-roof would it not? I could buy a sheet of T111 and have it replaced but that is not the point. The point of all this is that your company did not do what any customer would want them to do. All it takes to make a customer HAPPY is to give them all the information up front or during the job!!!! You are a construction company also if I would have had that information you would have made more money but instead I had water in my house and back sunroom. It really is shame on you. I can honestly say that I have a beautiful roof but that doesn't matter when I had water leaking in my house. You know what the right thing to do is you just need to do it.

I believe that the photos of the damage should be shared with Roofing and the Revdex.com prior to requesting that I replace rotten wood on the chimney. I am willing to pay the cost of a sheet of T-111 that was damaged by installing shingles.  The homeowner should have it professionally installed correctly so that it meets code and will not rot again.  With the siding incorrectly installed, water damaged and rotten it should have been replaced previously.

All repairs to [redacted] has been completed as of Dec. 5th 2014. Spoke to Mr. [redacted] of Dec. 9th 2014 to confirm that he was happy with all repairs made and he confirmed.

I have offered to pay for the damaged item that did not occur from Preferred Roofing's negligence or excessive force installing the shingles.  The siding was water logged and rotten and separated installing shingles under the siding.  I do not care to do any further work on this home due to the potential to blame Preferred Roofing for defective or improperly installed materials on the chimney.  I will provide $125 to replace your piece of siding that should have been replaced long ago.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 1[redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.  Although I accept the mainte[redacted] action performed by Preferred Roofing, I do so with overall dissatisfaction. A repair of this magnitude should not have taken so long to accomplish and should not have required a Revdex.com compliant to get Preferred Roofing to fulfill it's obligation.

We completed a repair for Mr. [redacted] on 8/13/14 at which time the homeowner did call in with a issue concerning his roof and dry wall. We have been waiting on a particular roof material that had to be special ordered to be able to complete the repair properly. This material has also been on a back...

order. We did receive the order a few weeks back which was not right and we had to send back to the manufacture. We are still currently waiting for this material to arrive at which time everything will be completed. The owner of the company Mr. [redacted] has been in touch with the homeowner since the original call explaining each time what our circumstances were.

I am rejecting this response because:[redacted],Thank you for letting me know that my warranty is still going to be good for 10 years. I do want to be proud of my house and everything that I have done to it. I bought this house 15 years ago and have totally remodeled it from the kitchen, bathrooms, floors. windows, garage door, I installed a Florida room and many other things. I have never had an issue like this. Calling me opportunistic is very wrong on your part. I work very hard for the things that I have in my life and have never had to file a complaint with the Revdex.com or any contractors that I have used. I understand that you do not want to do the work to my house so here is an idea. Why don't you use a contractor that you know will have the building code knowledge to complete this repair. You and I both know that one side of the paneling can be taken off without disturbing the other 3 sides. I just like you want this to be over but I do want it to be done right. I do not wish to put the whole blame on Preferred Roofing and I am glad that you will use this as a training tool for future work. I have not found a contractor that will do this for what you are offering and would prefer that it is just taken care of without me getting involved anymore. Maybe we should get together for lunch and talk about this.
