I loved Remuda so muchIt was a great experience but I there were a few things that could've been done or approached in a different mannerFirst, the psychiatrist at the inpatient facility (where I was first), needs to be firedHe was not compassionate what so everWhen I arrived he took me off my medication cold turkeyI was on a high dose of adderall because I am diagnosed with ADDI was withdrawing like crazyApparently he thought I was using it to just suppress my appetite but as I said before I have a diagnosis of ADDAlong with my withdrawal, I was re-feeding (which is dangerous as it is)This should not have happened at allHe would also meet with us in front of everyone and we told him multiple times that we need to all be met with in private! He never did thisHe was breaking the H.I.P.P.A regulationsI have to continue to work through trauma (which was continually brought up)EMDR hurt me more than it helped me and I dont like the fact that they brought all it up and then sent me home knowing that I have intense flashbacks and a diagnosis of PTSDI wish this was better but it isn'tI'm still struggling at home and this isn't what I wantOther than the rude psychiatrist, the staff were amazing and helped me through a lotThank you

I was a patient of Remuda Ranch in 2003. When I hear people report abuses it makes me want to make a difference. My father was not contacted by this organization when he was concerned about my care. They lied to me as a patient and deceived my father. I left this facility in a much worse psychological state that when I went in. I realize other people have positive experiences but I did not. I felt like a victim when I was seeking help.

Remuda Ranch is NOT able to handle younger patients. They will claim that they can help... They may even actually believe that they can. Their approach to treatment of Eating Disorders for children under the age of 16 is totally inappropriate. Taking such young girls and isolating them from their families while exposing them to older patients is a recipe for disaster. The isolation of being taken from their families is not helpful to this age group. Exposure to older patients will only intensify the behaviors of the eating disorder. The older girls actually taught my daughter how to better lie about and hide her disordered eating. They taught her to pull her NG tube so that she could further deprive herself of essential nutrition. They did this right under the eyes of the staff of Remuda Ranch. When she pulled the tube, the staff had to take her to the hospital. They were not medically qualified enough to replace the tube. In fact they are not medically equipped at all. Eating disorders in younger children tend to be biological in nature. Remuda is not able to treat this at all and will likely make you child's eating disorder worse. My daughter, an anorexic, lost almost 20% of her body weight under their "care." Their approach DOES NOT WORK for these young children. Why would you take your preteen and send her to live with older eating disordered individuals and a staff who is not medically capable of taking care of her? DO NOT put your young child here!! Find a clinic that requires family participation and teaches ordered eating to you and your little one. Remuda can not and will not help!

I loved Remuda so much. It was a great experience but I there were a few things that could've been done or approached in a different manner. First, the psychiatrist at the inpatient facility (where I was first), needs to be fired. He was not compassionate what so ever. When I arrived he took me off my medication cold turkey. I was on a high dose of adderall because I am diagnosed with ADD. I was withdrawing like crazy. Apparently he thought I was using it to just suppress my appetite but as I said before I have a diagnosis of ADD. Along with my withdrawal, I was re-feeding (which is dangerous as it is). This should not have happened at all. He would also meet with us in front of everyone and we told him multiple times that we need to all be met with in private! He never did this. He was breaking the H.I.P.P.A regulations. I have to continue to work through trauma (which was continually brought up). EMDR hurt me more than it helped me and I dont like the fact that they brought all it up and then sent me home knowing that I have intense flashbacks and a diagnosis of PTSD. I wish this was better but it isn't. I'm still struggling at home and this isn't what I want. Other than the rude psychiatrist, the staff were amazing and helped me through a lot. Thank you.
