ID#***To whom it may concern:Our practice's main concern is patient dental healthAs providers it is our job to inform patients of the necessary treatment needed to treat any dental health problemsWe give our patients their very best option to get the best results for their future health
When we have patients whom have periodontal disease we give them their options that come with Scaling and Root Planning, The most effective treatment with sealing and Root Planning is to be treated with a laser during and after the procedure- This allows the patients have a chance Of potentially reattaching healthy gingival tissue that once was inflamed with bacteriaThis promotes healthy gums and helps patient not have more severe bone lossThis is not the only option given to our patientsIf a patients state's concern and opts out of a laser treatment they are given an alternative option which still involves scaling and root planning however instead of using a laser they are given an antibiotic treatment to try to help the infected areaPatients are advised that this js just to control the periodontal disease and that this does not help reattach any inflamed gingival tissue to the tooth- This is to help maintain what they already have, All patients sign a given treatment plan are given the option to move forward with any recommended treatment Our office is here to provide the best dental health we can to our patientsDo we have patients declined treatment? ABSOLUTELY!! At that point we discuss other options end we give them alternative treatment options because we want them in the best health they can maintainOur expert hygienists evaluate pocket depths with perio charting and have x-rays in their chart that can show the bone loss when we have a periodontal patientAny patient that has had Scaling and Root Planning no longer is a regular routine patient, this patient is now classified as a periodontal patient and they usually need 3-month recalls instead of the routine standard month recalls that patients without periodontal disease receiveWe do have many patients that do floss regularly and brush twice a day, however you can only floss 3mm in pocket depth anything under that has to be removed by a hygienist that is why it is important for periodontal patients to come to their recall visitsFor most periodontal patients we do indeed use a cavitron because it helps flush under the tissue while getting their maintenance or scaling which also helps remove bacteriaOnce again, we also have patients that prefer hand scaling, or no cavitron at altThe instruments used does not determine the type of treatment given, We take after xrays and we do post op visits after laser treatments to verify that all calculus has been removed from subgingivalNot one time did the patient refuse treatment or state that they did not want to move forward With the recommended treatment diagnosed for his periodontal disease, We work with afl patients and had he had a concern we would have gladly addressed itA specialist oftce focuses just on tho specialtyThey may have more advanccd treatment options because they are specialist however, this is not a reason for one provider to state that our office did not do a lhorough jobthis was B true concern our omce would have been more than glad to meet and discuss the issueOur office has several expert hygienists and each onc is more than qualified to perrorm excellent services to our patientsIf one did not meet the expectations needed it could have been addressed and we could have accommodated the patient with a different providerHoweverwe provided a service to the patient and it is not of professional morality to want to be reimbursed for a GREAT service that was providedIf the patient would like to be treated again by a different hygienist that is always an option but without (he patient communicating to our office this is very difficultWe have patients that have been Wilh our practice for over yearsOur best interest is always the patients*** ***

I am rejecting this response because:We do not wish to return to your office. Ever. You definitely are more concerned with other things aside from patient care. You, Dr. [redacted], are completely off topic to addressing our complaint. We trusted in the diagnosis given, we were complaint with the doctors recommendations. I am unsure as to why you are discussing declining treatment. The specialist we saw is not only focused on “their speciality” as you state. That would be saying that you should only be focusing on “general dentistry” yet I am aware you place implants and preform other periodontal procedures..   isn’t that considered a specialty?  I can assure you the service was not “GREAT.”  Since we basically have to pay for another Scaling and Root Planing. Unless you are [redacted], you can NOT vouch for how great this cleaning was. I would NOT be wasting my time and going through this has it been a great cleaning. We confided in you all as dental professionals, and we voiced our concerns yet all I received back was a long paragraph on how we are wrong. If patient care was a priority to you, you would not seem so degrading.
