Primer Trees and Landscaping. Yes, we had a previous company install our patio cover, but we didn’t break a contract with them. I don't see how that's relevant to this complaint. The individual that referred us to Premier Trees and Landscaping is not a contractor nor is he licensed. He is an independent freelancer ([redacted]) that does iron work and does not have any knowledge on how pilasters are built. We never stated we were unhappy with the previous contractor. We simply wanted to shop around for a lower price on installation of paver stones. The individual we talked to that works for Premier Trees ([redacted]) stated that he could do it and would do it right the 1st time which were is exact words.
We hired the company in good faith that the project we wanted would be completed to our satisfaction. [redacted] came and completed the installation for the pavers. At the time it was really windy and when he sprayed the sealer it didn't stick well enough. At least that's what he stated. I would find out later from other contractors that the company didn't use the right joint sand for the job the 1st time or 2nd time. That is why the joint sand is still coming out. After they were done they didn't come back until 3 months later. All while they left a pile of trash in our backyard, which consisted of left over mixed mortar, mixed cement, cut up pavers, wood pieces and dead shrubs. We didn't know when the company was coming back to pick up the trash they left, so we decided to remove the debris ourselves. We were trying to start planting flowers, trees and grass on our own, and the huge pile of trash was an eye soar. We asked the company to credit us for the removal of the trash. They only credited us $20.00 which I know is not what they charged us. This is the only credit we ask for on the work we did. We never ask for a discount on anything. Why would we pay the company for work they did not do.
The other credit they are referring to is the supplies. We shopped around for a lower price on the materials than what the company was offering. They were upset about this and deducted amount, but tried to charge us the full amount through the gate guy ([redacted]) and did not notify [redacted] that we purchased our own materials. So, [redacted] had no idea and expected us to pay the full amount which is extortion. We had to prove to the [redacted] with receipts that we were in fact telling the truth so he could reduce the price of the gate. [redacted] also tried to charge us for a more expensive cement block on the pilasters through [redacted], when in fact he used a cheaper one. We had to prove to [redacted] with photos we took before the work was done.  Even with all that proof, [redacted] was upset with us that he had to deduct his price of the gate because he had already paid [redacted] in full. I don’t see how [redacted] can attest to anything after all the deceiving done by Premier Trees and Landscaping. Before the company even started the project we had told them that we wanted a permit for all the work. [redacted] did not make an effort to get a permit and started the work on the gate. We had to go to the city to get a permit and he was upset about this because he had to tear down the 1st pilasters.
The company came back to work on the fire pit. There were two skilled workers working on placing the veneer stones on the two pilasters and [redacted] placed the veneer stone on the fire pit himself until the very end where he had the two workers finish the job. I noticed while James was working on the fire pit that the stones were crooked and uneven. After he was done I went outside to try and tell him but he quickly snapped at me. He was upset that we were doing the landscaping ourselves and accused us of hiring another company. I explained to him that we were trying to save money and do the work ourselves. He demanded his money that moment claiming that he was working for free and that the non-licensed individual ([redacted]) installing our gate did not pay him yet. I was alone at home and felt intimated so I paid him the money.
Two days later while outside I noticed a couple of the veneer stones that had fallen off. I called [redacted] that day to let him know, and he snapped at me again. His exact words were "you called me for a couple of stones?" and I told him that I was also unhappy with the fire pit. He was upset and said he was busy. This was the 2nd time he snapped at me and had an attitude. I couldn't believe this was how the company handled their paying customers.  We paid the company in full and have all documents to prove it. The company did not contact us at all to ask when they could come back and fix their work. We notified [redacted] who was working on our iron gate about the situation. We thought it would be resolve since he was the one who referred this company to us. Since the company did not notify us when they were going to come back, we decided to call our credit card company and put in a disputed amount for $2500. The company claims they sent an email and called us, but that is in fact not true. If the company had called to schedule a date we would not have put in a credit card dispute.  The only reason they came to fix their work was because the credit card took back the $2500.
The owner also claimed that there was additional work when they came out to fix their poor workmanship and that is also false. It was the same issues that we stated in an email we sent to the owner prior to them arriving. Also the ridiculous claim of us vandalizing their work is outlandish. Why would we destroy our own property? This just goes to show what kind of company we are dealing with.  As far as the pilasters, we simply asked for a few stones to be fixed because the pieces were broken that they placed. The owner stated she brought an objective 3rd party days before, but she knows the individual so that’s a conflict of interest. It was the 3rd party that removed one of the loose paver stones that we assumed was only loose.  He also stated the fire pit ring was too big and should be fixed and that the loose pavers were a dangerous hazard. That’s when we found out all the pavers on the edge of the 2nd patio were not secured.
As for the younger individual the owner brought to our residence. He was indeed in our backyard and we have video footage, pictures and witnesses. The owner was yelling at my husband to sign another contract, which our credit card company advised us not to sign anything. I think it was very unprofessional for the owner to bring her relative as a body guard to intimidate us. She had a bad attitude the whole time while present. The individual that we hired to install the gate arrived at noon and was not at our residence the whole time the company was there. The company arrived at 7am and [redacted] came to install the gate around noon. So I don’t see how he or his worker can attest to the owners’ claims when they did not witness the commotion that occurred earlier when the company arrived. While the owner left to buy more veneer stones the workers the company subcontracted talked to us. They said that other customers have complained about the company’s work and they always have to come back to fix it. They stated it’s because the person in charge rushes them and that the company cuts corners. The worker gave us their card so we can notify them for future work. They stated that the fire pit veneers looked really bad and they knew that there were going to have to come back and fix the work done by [redacted].
Dealing with this company has been a huge headache on us and has caused us distress. We tried to help the owner through emails on how to collect the money from the credit card, but the owner refused to do her part on her end so the credit card dispute can be resolved. We called the credit card company and notified them that the owner was refusing to cooperated and claim the money. We also told them we were being harassed from the owner because she didn’t receive her money and was demanding cash. The credit card company advised us that we did not have to communicate with the company since the owner was being uncooperative. They stated that she was supposed to notify her bank in order to receive the disputed amount we both agreed on. We relayed this message to the owner several times and have all the emails to prove it.
Due to the poor workmanship, the unsatisfactory customer service, bad attitude, deceitfulness from the owner and this company, we decided to put a complaint on yelp and notify the Revdex.com. We noticed that the company did not have a license to do masonry work so we notified the State licensing board. Premier Trees and Landscaping already has a violation on their license for “Conviction of a substantially related crime.” We did this to warn other home owners. After having several licensed masonries companies come and look at this company work, we were shown numerous errors on their part.  We are confident with all the photos, emails and proposal documents that we are in the right. Especially now with the company trying to go after more money than originally agreed upon, which is ridiculous. They are taking us to court for $4,000, and the amount they refused to claim from the credit card company was only $1,900. We will be happy to show the judge in court that we are honest individuals with a military background and that we are telling the truth.

Review: They built the fire pit and pavers without a masonry license. The veneer stones on the walls and the paver stones were loose and falling off. The patio area where the fire pit is located is elevated and the stones all around where loose. I found out because I nearly fell on my face when walking off the patio. The fire pit ring is too close to the inside of the wall causing it to leave a burn mark on the cap which will eventually crack. The company also filled the fire pit with 3/4 gravel that pops when hot. They charged us for firepit caps and then refused to install them stating that it wasn't in the orginial proposal. We proved them wrong by showing them the proposals we had. We had to hire someone else to install the caps. There is a dip in the pavers that collects water when hosed down or rains which goes toward the house. The sand in the groves of the paver comes out easily when wet or rained on. The company came out and fixed the loose paver stones by applying a glue which didn't hold up and fell apart a couple days later. They also came back a 2nd time to fix most of the errors after we filed a compliant with our credit card to get our money back. The fire pit ring, caps with burned stains, 3/4 gravel in the fire pit still need to be fixed. They said it was fine and nothing would happen. Now some of the caps are ruined and we had to pull out some of the 3/4 gravel ourselves becsuse of the pooping. Also, the dip in the paver needs to be fixed and new sand for the 3rd time needs to be reapplied. Due to all this stress from this company, I've been having panic attacks and nightmares. I am a war Veteran and suffer from PTSD and all this headache has made this worse for me. We have installed cameras for our protection and asked all neighbors to be on the look out for them. The owner brought her teenage son the 2nd time they fixed the errors to intimated us. While the owner was yelling at my huband, her son walked behind him and gestured that he wanted to hit him behind the head.Desired Settlement: We don't want to deal with this company anymore. We gave them plenty of chances to fix their mistakes. We are being harassed with phone calls e-mails and certified letters demanding the rest of their money. We are still in a credit card dispute with them and they refuse to deal with the bank in order to resolve this. We would like a refund of $1,100 in order to fix the remaining errors.
