Prescott Transfer and Storage Reviews (6)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.] I do not accept this at all. I did ask him to fix the porch & I would give him some work, putting up a retaining wall around our flower garden. I thought then I would at least get a response from him. I did not threaten him. I just told him I would take him to court if he didn't fix the porch. I got no response from him. As far as cheap materials, that was[redacted]'s doing. I was to meet him to pick it out & he already had picked it up & had it ready to go. I trusted him, which was my fault. His wife does the books for him & is theone responding to this. She had lied 99% of the time. Yes, he did offer to put blocks of wood under the sections that were sagging. Wouldn't that look nice?? I would like mymoney returned. I would not have him do anymore work for me.

Here is Proof we have talked to this customer already a year ago and she knows it and is lying. She has threatened us she would try to complain to ruin our ratings and our good name. Here is a conversation we had with her back inStarting in Sept of Last year than we even came over to her house to look at it see what needed to be done to resolve the issue even know it had nothing to do with us. It was a material problem frankly by looking at it ware and tare and like someone hit it with the shovel for winter time cause the bottom piece was broken. After she refused our offer and wanted us to come out of pocket and pay to fix her porch. We have 5 kids and small company live paycheck to paycheck we can not just pay for things we did not doing wrong for people just because they want it free. So she threatened us and to ruin my company so we blocked her cause of her threats. We will not be threatened by anyone cause they want free work done that is not our companies fault to pay for it and do we offered to do the labor to be nice. We clearly told her we would fix it for her no problem and said with blocks which would be cheap. She wanted a whole new railings done and expected that we should have to pay for that when it has nothing to do with our work. If you want cheap materials from the start it won't last long which she was already was told what to get customer tried to save money not getting what we suggested. It is not a remodelers fault on materials at all that would be menards problem. It is also not a remodelers fault for wear and tare of the customers and weather. It was there Cheap materials and wear and tare nothing our company did. Our work was great and she had us do more work. We also did work for free to be nice. We had a great relationship with this customer we even let her be friends with us on Facebook which she could see our kids. There was no complaining till this Message in Sept and cause she was having her house looked for appraisal. We have copied all Messages have Facebook posts of her boosting of how great our work is. Pictures of her boyfriend next to porch happy with our work. The threats she sent us and the bid when work was really completed was over 3 years ago! Here is the conversations. We text messages as proof to if need be if want to take this to court. We are not worried our company did nothing wrong and tried to resolve her problem she is just being difficult to work with and wants free work and free materials which we are not gonna do. It was past our Guarantee of 6 month after that it is wear and tare. We were nice a enough to offer to fix it for her free of labor even know we were not at fault at all. We feel threatened by her so we will not be working with this customer no more. That is fine if she wants to take it to court we are ready with lots of proof of us trying to resolve her issue and help her even know our company was not at fault for anything. We have proof she was happy with our work and had us do more work for her. It comes down to her wanting work done for free and us to pay for materials that our company will not do we are not at fault.

This complaint is very untrue. We did customer [redacted] work back in July 26' 2013 not 2014 and We only charged customer Labor cost only. There was no materials in our bid at all. She went with owner [redacted] to the store menards to pick out all her materials. She showed [redacted] a picture of material she...

wanted for decking. She wanted composite decking and railings. [redacted] went against [redacted]'s request to use PVC for Railings and composite decking. Customer wanted what she wanted. She even yelled at a worker in the store when [redacted] was with her about something. The customer picked out own materials and paid for it with her own credit card. Dan store worker delivered the materials to her house for us to Install her decking and railings. After we were done She was very pleased with the work and so was her boyfriend who is in the picture. Than requested us to do more work for her. We have pictures of decking before and after. We also have pictures of work she asked us to do after the decking was Installed. She asked us to do doors, Install counter top and Painting her Kitchen cabinets. Also we did free work for customer to be nice out of the kindness of our hearts painted and Installed an extra cabinet for her. Customer is complaining due to she damaged the deck railings by hitting it with a shovel and it has wear and tare sagging due to after 3 years of being Installed on only railing. [redacted] went out to her house to look at the deck and offered to help her fix it for free only labor by putting composite blocks underneath to raise up a railing and offered to fix the cap but she would have to pay for the materials. She refused and wanted us to pay for new railings. We told her we do not warrant work over 3 years old and couldn't give her a brand new Railings for Free. So she threatened us in messages and also to complain on Revdex.com. If customer was not happy with our work or deck being Installed why was there no complaints before the three years and she has asked us to do more work for her after Installing decking and even 2 years after she has asked us to do work we just have been booked up at the time. We have been more than nice and tried to work with customer on her decking issue. She is very unreasonable to work with at this point and Job is over 3 years old. We don't warrant our work over 1 year and still was willing to work with customer to help.

This was our 18th pro move and the only horrible experience we have had. We moved with this company with previous owner and had a great experience. Based on Revdex.com rating tried with new owner. It has been more than 2 months and never found our phones, or top piece for antique desk. At least 12 boxes they packed were unmarked. Two valuable original oil paintings were damaged. At the last minute they changed moving date by a day and it was after our closing. Fortunately our buyers were generous and let us stay. When we arrived the owner would not allow us to direct boxes to appropriate rooms. The threw our clothes on closet floors so they could take back wardrobe boxes. Most unprofessional and painful move we have ever had.

[redacted] Transfer & Storage was by far the worst moving experience that my wife and I have ever had. The owner, [redacted] was a nightmare to deal with. In all our lives, this is actually the 1st negative review we have EVER taken the time to write, but dealing with [redacted] and [redacted] Transfer and Storage was SOOOOOO negative, difficult, stressful, and expensive that we feel somewhat of a responsibility to do our best to make sure no one else ever has to go thru this. We were referred to the company by a long-time trusted family friend but later learned that [redacted] Transfer and Storage recently went thru a transfer of ownership to [redacted], the current owner, and that is apparently when what used to be a great company became a complete nightmare. We are sharing the facts here...please please please review this before making a commitment to work with this company!!
We were moving from [redacted], but did not know when we would find a house so we asked [redacted] to come give us a quote to move all of our belongings into his storage facility at the end of March. We were going to be living in temporary housing while looking for a home to purchase. We told him we expected it would be at least 90 days. Because of what we have heard about moving companies, we specifically asked [redacted] for a "NOT TO EXCEED" quote, meaning that what he quoted us as the cost to deliver to the [redacted] area would be the cost...no changes. He provided that for us. The first problem came when we received a communication from [redacted] that he was going to sell all of our belongings because we had not paid his storage fee. This was a bit surprising as we had never received an invoice, an email, nothing....just one email from him threatening to sell all of our stuff. We responded by saying that we really did NOT want him to do this, that we had never received any invoice from him, and that we would send a check out for the amount due in full that same day, which we did. He responded by saying that he was not obligated to send us an invoice/reminder/bill/etc. We run a business as well and this just seems like a common customer curtousy in our opinions. But this was nothing compared to what followed.
Once we did find a home, we called him and asked when he could delvier our things, stating that we would like them as soon as he could fit us into his schedule. We made this call to him on August 18th. He said that he would bring our things at the end of the following week. We never heard anything more from him, so a few days before the promised delivery date we called to confirm, and he said that it would now be the end of the NEXT week. Again, we heard nothing from him after that and called again a few days before the 2nd promised delivery date. And AGAIN, he moved the date out. This happened several times. About a month after our initial request, he was supposed to be coming out on a Friday. He called THAT SAME DAY that he was supposed to be delivering our stuff, to ask questions such as "I see a red vase here...is that yours?", and "I am looking at a box of 'x'...is that part of yours?"....obviously questions that do not instill confidence!!! On that same call, he stated that he was currently loading the trucks, and that he needed us to get a Postal Money Order for 40% MORE than his original 'Not to Exceed' written quote. We asked him why the price went up, and told him that we were surprised by this increase, which he was only informing us of on the day he was actually supposed to already be there! As soon as we asked this, his demeanor changed dramatically and he started yelling at me on the phone, stating that he had "no obligation to deliver our things", that "if you are going to be difficult, I will just stop loading this truck right now and you can start over and find someone else to deliver", that "you can just forget it! I am not coming!", that "you should just file a claim and then I won't have to deal with it", etc. The ENTIRE call, we were essentially groveling, telling him to please still come, telling him that we were NOT trying to be difficult but that when someone increases your price 40% at the LAST MINUTE, with NO REASON OR EXPLANATION, people like ourselves might wonder why, and ask!! We told him that we needed a few minutes to discuss the increased price but that we would call him back shortly. Meanwhile, we contacted the Department of Transportation, as well as an advocacy group of attorneys who work to protect consumers from predatory practices by moving companies. We were told that he was ABSOLUTELY BREAKING THE LAW. We were also told that no matter what, we should 'keep the peace', that there are TONS of horror stories of movers who all of a sudden 'lose' all of a person's belongings, and that the best thing to do was 'keep the peace' and 'get him in our driveway', and that we could take whatever measures we wanted to AFTER we got our things. Soooooo, we called him back, told him we were happy to pay his increased fee, that we would get the Postal Money Order, and asked him to please continue loading the truck. He told us that 'everything was cool, we didn't need to worry about the postal money order, and that we could just pay him with a check when he got there'.
So on the weekend he was finally supposed to arrive on Friday, and after all that drama with him, he arrived Monday morning. My wife was out with the kids standing in line at Office Depot for 2 hours as we still didn't have any of our things, including printers/faxes/etc! when [redacted] arrived. Despite the fact that the last thing he had said to us was that he would take a personal check, he now stated that he needed a Money Order or Cashier's check. So my wife had to finish what she was doing at Office Depot, then run to the bank, and [redacted] sat in the driveway, not even opening the doors of the trucks until he had that cashier's check in-hand, which was about noon. This was VERY frustrating as we had already waited and waited for him, and because he changed his requirements for payment THAT DAY, they didn't even get started unloading until noon. Towards the end of the day, we began to notice that a LOT of stuff was missing. As it got dark, [redacted]'s helpers started closing up the trucks/packing away their materials/etc, despite the fact that what we agreed to and paid for was a full service move meaning that they were supposed to build the beds they had originally taken apart, build the furniture they had taken apart, etc. We asked him about that and he said that normally they would have built everything, but now it was too late and that he and his guys would not work overtime hours to do that.....this after he sat in the driveway until noon!!! So he left all beds in giant heaps on the floor, unbuilt, all desks/etc unbuilt, exercise equipment outside in the grass, etc. We were FURIOUS, but trying to 'keep the peace' as the attorneys had told us because of the fact that we had noticed so much missing stuff. He then sat us down at the table asking us to sign the delivery receipt and I started asking about coffee tables/bedding/linens/bookcases/tons of boxes/etc that seemed to be missing. He walked around and said "oh, I bet we missed a whole storage area...that is no problem, we will bring it out in a couple of weeks". We were slightly shocked, needless to say, and stated that "this situation does NOT seem right....you increased your price by 40%, and then stood in the driveway until noon refusing to even get started because you decided at the last minute that the personal check you told us would be fine was no longer ok and you needed a Cashier's check for the FULL payment PLUS your 40%, and now we have only half of our stuf! We told him this didn't seem fair or right. Again, his demeanor completely changed and he started stomping around saying 'well, if you are going to make this personal, you can just forget about the rest of your stuff - you can find someone else to hire to bring it to you!". WHAT???? PERSONAL????? We just paid this man for a full move of all of our belongings, had to wait a month for him to bring it, were threatened that he would sell our stuff, that he would not bring our stuff, had him increase his Not-To-Exceed Fee by 40%, had him tell us that he was NOT going to build anything back together because it had gotten too late, realized that half of our stuff was missing, and then simply asked about it and stated that him having ALL the money, and us having HALF our stuff didn't feel right. And then we had someone stomping around the house, raising his voice, acting bent out of shape because we asked the question. AGAIN, we tried to keep the peace, and told him that we didn't feel we were 'getting personal', but that we couldn't imagine ANY client who wouldn't feel this situation wasn't right when they paid for and expected a full move only to realize everything that was supposed to be built was left strewn in pieces (many of which were missing, by the way), and half of their belongings were gone. IT WAS A COMPLETE NIGHTMARE.
We have many good friends in [redacted] and have since found out that there are many others who have had horrible experiences with [redacted] Storage and Transfer. We would not wish this moving experience on our worst enemies....please beware of this unprofessional company and owner, and look somewhere else for your moving or storage needs!!
BTW, I have not even gone into all the broken, damage and missing items, plus holes in the walls!
