President Moving and Storage Reviews (7)

Review: I hired this company for a move from new york to charlotte, nc. The company gave me an estimate of 1740.00 and stated half on pick and half on delivery. They picked up my furniture and then charge me 600.00 more than what was agreed on. They left furnitiure that I was billed for and added hundreds of dollars on for additional boxes. I set an date for delivery and they arrived two weeks early and called me the day they where on the way with no prior notice. They demand I pay in cash not the 820.00 agreed on delivery but 1413.00. After already paying 920.00 which brought my total to 2333.00 not 1740.00. They ran multi charges on my debit card and then refuse to give me all my furniture. They kept most of my house on the truck and stop unloading stating I must pay in cash. I do not believe this business is legal, and I also think they are robbing me for my own furniture. I was told they would take the rest of my furniture back to new york and I would have to pay 2800.00 to get it back. I had to cancel my debit caard due to my bank thinking fraudlant activity going on. This company has been dishonor in every way.Desired Settlement: I want my furniture, at no cost. Due to the lies and multi charges in the way business was conducted.

Review: In August of 2013, I ordered moving services with Presidential to have my belongings moved from my prior residence in Brooklyn, New York, to my new residence in Chicago, IL. Presidential Movers delivered most of my shipment on August *, 2013 to my new home in Chicago. However, they did not deliver several items (part of my bed frame and several essential pieces of a hand-built desk). I received an invoice marking those items as non-delivered and was told I would hear back shortly regarding an expected delivery date. I have no complaints with the initial service; the movers who came to pick up my things in New York were great. However, when I attempted to follow up and secure delivery of the remaining items, I ran into trouble. I did not hear back from President Movers on Monday, August **, as I was assured I would. When I emailed the company to follow up (8/**) I received no response. When I called on 8/** I was told that they had received my email and would get back to me with a delivery date. Again I received no response. I called on 8/** and was told they would have a truck leaving for IL "in a few days," and that they would call with an update. I followed up on 8/**, and received no response. I called on 8/** and spoke with [redacted], who told me he would look into options for shipping my goods and would call me back by 12pm EST today, 8/**. I have not yet received a response.Desired Settlement: I would like my remaining materials to be delivered as soon as possible, by courier if they cannot be delivered by the company's truck. Absent that, I will have to find substitute goods; should that occur I would like to be reimbursed for the cost of doing so.

Review: I utilized this company on March [redacted] (Easter) to move the contents of my apartment in NJ to my new home in Atlanta. The movers that arrived in NJ to pack my things told me that it would take a week or so for the moving truck to arrive in Atlanta, considering that they would fill the truck with other peoples' belongings before making the trip: which was fine with me. A different set of movers delivered my belongings in Atlanta about 8 days. I did notice that a couple of my odd-shaped hat boxes, a family heirloom, were not unloaded from the truck. But I knew that the movers that packed my things in NJ condensed a lot of my belongings into larger boxes to save space, so I thought that I would eventually find the hat boxes (and their contents) when I unpacked. When I unpacked everything about 3 days after the movers dropped off my things (in Mid-April), I never found those hats. Not only did I not receive my hats--which belonged to my grandmother, but I had a container that did not belong to me. I called the moving company 2-4 times to inquire about my hats and kept getting the run around. Finally someone said that they called the other people they delivered to on the same day they delivered my things to Atlanta, and no one had my hats/hat boxes. They were supposed to call me back to offer some sort of resolution/compensation--I NEVER got that call! I do not appreciate the way in which this was handled/the way I was ignored and I did not forget about this. I'm sure the folks at Presidential/Manhattan Moving wish I had; if I knew of any other way to criticize them for this I would do it. My grandmother died 17 years ago & her hats meant ALOT to me! Now I don't know WHERE they are!! Did the movers that picked up my stuff in NJ take them? Were they ever loaded onto the truck like they should have been? Or were they left at the wrong person's house when deliveries were made? After all, I STILL have a bin that doesn't belong to me. Please do NOT use these people-they're insensitive & shady!!!Desired Settlement: I want an apology, I want my hats or I want $300 to cover their cost, even though I cannot put a price on their sentimental value I deserve something other than being ignored. Its a matter of principle.

Review: I called on Tuesday September **, 2013 to cancel a schedule move for Friday September **, 2013 and the customer sercice representative never recorded the conversation, on the following day Wednesday I called to follow up on the call and spoke to ** another customer service representative who said someone woukd call and they never did on Thursday I called and spoke to [redacted] a customer service representative "problem solver at the company" whom told me that I would not get my refund because I called less than 48hr before the service day I explaimed to him I had called his always daily since the Friday prior regarding concerns and issues with permits and had called to cancel on tuesday because they were unresolved he insisted there was no record of my call and that I wouldn't receive my refund. Not only that but he was extremely rude and disrespected me on several occasions during our call.Desired Settlement: I would like my 100.00 deposit refund back to my credit card.

Review: President Moving agreed to move antique furniture from NY to Los Angeles. They gave every impression that they would pack and process the shipment with the special care it needed. This Included an agreement that they would pick up and deliver in the same truck with no download anywhere.A stipulation I insisted on, with furniture so easily damaged. [redacted], [redacted] and [redacted] agreed to this at different times. When loss and damages were discovered after delivery they apologized and were "shocked" at the photos. (I have detailed before and after photographs). They had downloaded and subcontracted another unaffiliated carrier to deliver the shipment. They admitted this fact after the event. Their insurance company offered $200. My insurance company (USAA) paid a small portion of the damage and loss but I am still $20,000 out of pocket on restoration and replacement. This company should not be dealing with people's property. They were dishonest in their dealings with me.Desired Settlement: I would like President to reimburse me $20,000 for the restorative work I am having done. Please contact me for further information or photographs .

Review: I had a moving company come on August [redacted] to move my belongings from New York to California. At first, everything seemed alright. When they were done moving everything I packed into their truck, they put some of my belongings that didn't require boxes, in their boxes without my consent, and charged me for 9 extra boxes, when I only had about 6 more boxes then we had discussed on the phone. The additional charge came out to be $520. After paying Half of the total moving expense($860) upfront we were told our belongings would arrive in California the earliest on 8/**/13.The man who handled all of our paperwork during the loading of truck harassed me to give him a bigger tip after already giving twenty dollars to each of the workers , himself included. I reluctantly gave him another ten dollars but in my opinion that was very offensive. On the morning of August [redacted] , My mother called the shipping company to see where the truck was , and to find out why they had made the extra boxes up without our permission. That day the associate on the phone told us no longer then 1 week from that day our stuff would arrive. On or about September [redacted] our stuff still had not arrived. When I called the associate he gave me the drivers name and number. Upon calling [redacted] (the truck driver) I was informed my belongings were in San Francisco (4 and a half hours from my destination) and [redacted] was to be dropping it off by the end of that week . The night before last, the [redacted], [redacted] told me he would be at my destination the following day, the [redacted], between 1-4 pm. I am writing this complaint because it is now 9/**/13 and I am yet to receive my belongings. He did not contact me yesterday to tell me it wasn't going to be there, I found out by calling the manager of the company's location in New York. The manager promised me it would be here this morning (the [redacted]) between 10-1. I called [redacted] around 8 am this morning and he did not answer. He called me back an hour and 15 minutes later to tell me he wasn't dropping off our stuff anymore, he "transferred the shipment to his friend that works for another company because he wouldn't get here for another few days if he drove it himself." I was uncomfortable with this statement because he did not mention the moving company's name or the name of his friend. He said he'd call me back momentarily with this information and a way to contact him and reassured me it would still be here today. He has not called me back with this information. He has failed to return a lot of my phone calls, or call back days later. This company has had all of my household stuff and valuable belongings for over a month since the pick up date. I have been in contact with them everyday for the last week in a half and every time have received the same answer, "it'll be there tomorrow, I promise" . The last time I called, I spoke to the store's location manager, [redacted]. He told me he had to call the driver just to insure our stuff was even on the right truck, and that he would call back as soon as he did. He did not. I called about two hours later to check up on it and his response was "Oh yeah, I just got off the phone with him 5 seconds ago he'll be there tomorrow morning ([redacted], today.) Again, I wouldn't of known if I did not keep checking up on them. This companies business ethics and the way it handles customer problems is unprofessional and extremely disrespectful. I feel as if I have been brushed off and my problems are not being addressed by the company at all. They should not be in business.Desired Settlement: I would like the additional $560 charge to be refunded immediately. If my belongings are delivered intact within the next 24 hours, I would like a refund of half of the original price (Original price before $560 extra box charge was $1300). If my belongings are not delivered within the next 24 hours, or delivered damaged, I would like a full refund for all paid charges, including the $50 gratuity that was paid on the [redacted] of August.

At the time I made the complaint, I had not received my stuff. I did eventually receieve it, but broken and smashed. I am currently trying to upload the ones I took with my mothers camera, and those pictures show the condition of the actual boxes my stuff/valuables were in. Broken and smashed, things falling out. Ontop of the pictures I took with my camera, my mattress being squished so hard it never went back to its initial shape and I've been sleeping on the couch because you can't sleep on it, it's ruined. And my lamp that stood straight up when it left my house in New York. I hope you can handle this, although it sounds like they aren't even calling you back which was one

Review: Our belongings got picked up on time and the pickup crew was actually very efficient and seemed to have packaged our furniture well. Of course the estimate was waaaay below what they wanted to charge us after the truck was loaded. Fine, I can live with that. On delivery, however, everything possible went wrong. The truck came 5 days later than promised and on the day of the delivery, the driver called and said he'd be here at 2pm-showed up at 4:30pm. They started to unload the truck and at 6:15pm he tells me "uhm ma'am, we don't seem to have your mattress or your headboard"... Where am I supposed to sleep?? He calls the dispatch who picked up on third try-great customer service begins-and a very rude [redacted] tells me it's an honest mistake and that I can go buy myself an air mattress. There's a reason I own a $4000 mattress after three back surgeries and you expect me to sleep on an air mattress for who knows how long until you fix your honest mistake?? Of course no supervisor available until 7am. Before the delivery guys leave, I notice my custom made baby glider, which I've spent the first nine months of my baby's life in while nursing him-also missing. The guys tell me they don't work for this company, they're just delivering whatever was loaded into their truck... At 7am I promptly call the company and I speak with [redacted] who tells me he's one of the supervisors. [redacted] again states it's an honest mistake and they will fix it. Since then, my husband and I have called the company 27 times-not once have we received a returned call or an email to a plethora of correspondence I have sent them. I have sent multiple emails with pictures to help facilitate the hunt for our furniture, they don't even have the decency to respond they've received them! Since delivery, we've noticed 7 of our boxes also missing, and majority of our furniture was damaged. Overall, over $10,000 of loss and damage - yes, I will see them in court!

By far far the worst customer service, not once have they said we're sorry and 8 days later, they still haven't found any of our precious belongings.

Most of our furniture is damaged beyond repair: baby's changing table with the side completely ripped off-unusable, our sectional sofa with two corners ripped down through the fabric to the core, baby's crib hardware missing-cannot use the crib, dining table 2 corners completely smashed off, baby's high chair overgrown with mold-cannot be removed-unusable and the list goes on. I cannot reach a supervisor and cannot get an explanation where our belongings are. They suggested we file a claim with their insurance company-takes 30-90 days to process and all other customers filing a complaint stated they received no compensation.Desired Settlement: I need my items delivered to us or replaced:

1. Stearns and Foster mattress

2. Baby custom made Gator nursing glider

3. Leather queen size headboard

4. Ikea 8 cube storage shelf

5. Graco baby crib

6. OXO baby high chair

7. Pottery Barn baby changing table
