They were lying , took advantage of my wife. Didn't use factory parts and disregard the warranty on the unit. After all this they were threatening us.
I would like to make a complaint against Prestige Air Conditioning Systems. 2610 Ridgeway Avenue, West Palm Beach, Fl, 33401. Phone#: XXX-XXX-XXXX.
I called them this morning to request a service, because one of my A/C units stopped working. The mechanic came out and took advantage of my wife. She was out with him, but then she received phone calls and had to leave him. He never gave her an estimate, never asked for her permission to do the work, just changed some parts on the unit in 15 minutes, and then gave her the bill for $390. I was on the phone with my wife and talked the mechanic. He said there is no more warranty on the unit because it's 2007 and at that time Trane only gave 1-year warranty on parts. Trane gives 5-year warranty on parts only after 2011. We told him we purchased the home at the end of 2009 and it was brand new. He said it wouldn't matter because it was before 2011. I found it extremely high, but I wasn't home, so my wife gave him a check.
When I came home I called Trane where I was told that Trane gives 5-year warranty on this model A/C too and because I purchased a brand new house the warranty start from the day of occupancy.
I called back the company and told them I want to take care of the problem, but not willing to pay for the full amount, because the parts are under warranty. At this time they told me then they need to change the parts, because they used aftermarket parts. They never mentioned that either to my wife. Also the lady at the other end of the phone started to threaten us, that then we will have to pay double, because they need to uninstall the aftermarket parts and install the factory parts. She said if I don't pay the double amount then her boss is an ex police chief in the sheriff department and he could come back to our home and take away our A/C, because he knows all the cops in West Palm Beach.
I don't appreciate when a company is lying to me, taking advantage of my wife and threatening!!!
Please look into this serious matter!!
