Review: Had a CNG conversion on our truck and has not run properly for 7 month. Prestige auto unable to fix the problems and unwilling to refund any money.

In regards to our Ford F150 CNG conversion performed at Prestige auto shop on 5-23-13. Since the conversion we have had numerous and continuing issues with a poor running vehicle including loud backfires, sputtering, loud jet like sounds in the cab, complete loss of power forcing us to pull off the road in both regular gas and CNG, premature burning up of spark plugs, and most recently issues with the catalytic converters due to Prestige's inability to tune the truck properly.

Though we have contacted the shop in every instance, they have not been able to fix the problems and we have been left with unreliable transportation for the last seven months. They are in possession of the CNG EWS Aspirated System with one regulator plus one 10GGE Type 4 CNG Tank. The system has been removed at our request and they will not refund any of the money even though the can reuse this system on another truck of the same model.Desired Settlement: Under the 12 month warranty on all parts and labor related to the CNG system we ask for a full refund in the amount of $4,275.00

Unfortunately we have not been able to duplicate many of the issues they say have occurred.

They did purchase the lowest quality of system available at the time for the budget they could afford.

We also sent that vehicle to an independent shop in our area to verify their claims and that shop was NOT able to verify those claims as well.

We have offered several solutions for them, such as up grading the equipment or even a better quality kit, but they chose not to do so.

We are happy to work with Mr. and Mrs [redacted] to try and resolve this matter.

We have removed the entire system at our expense as they requested.

I would like to respond to each point made by Mr. [redacted] of Prestige Auto:

"Unfortunately we have not been able to duplicate many of the issues they say have occurred."

There were 2 test drives with the mechanic and 2 with Mr. [redacted] while Mr. [redacted] (co-owner of the vehicle) was in the truck pointing out the problems. There were written and verbal descriptions of all diagnostic issues.

"They did purchase the lowest quality of system available at the time for the budget they could afford."

We were told this system would be adequate for our truck and you would think that for $4,274.00 it should have been decent quality. We recently found out we were sold a system that was discontinued by the manufacturer a year and a half ago. (CNG EWS Aspirated System)

This is a muffler shop that Prestige does business with often, so it can't be considered "independent". When I went to this muffler shop to get a copy of the work order and findings, they had none. The owner said he didn't want to "get in the middle" and I demanded a written statement of the tests done and the findings. He reluctantly scribbled out a note based on his recollection of our truck. We took our truck to two independent shops and have appropriate documentation of findings supporting our claims.

The solutions they have offered would have cost thousands more and we were unwilling to do that and also unwilling to be without transportation for weeks while they try to figure it out.

It has taken four documented attempts, a complaint with the Revdex.com, and threat of small claims court.

For 7 months our truck ran poorly, we had unreliable or no transportation at all while it sat at the shop, the owner would not return our calls and the office manager said he knew very little about CNG, the mechanic was starting to try anything he could think of like replace our spark plugs 30K miles early for $449.00 and even offered to replace 2 catalytic converters for $800.00 each. Yes, we had the system removed under warranty.
