Review: I rented a car that had tires so worn that I skidded across the road. Upon receiving assistance to get to my destination, I could see that the tires were bald and the steel belts were showing through. I called Prestige and sent them pictures of the tires and offered to have new ones put on (at their expense) but they told me that the tires looked fine. the next day I brought the cart to a tire facility where they confirmed my findings and advised me that it was too dangerous to drive on the the tires as I could experience a blowout. I tried to put the mechanic on the phone to Prestige but they would not speak to him. the next day tried again to get them to consider the new tires and once again they said the tires were safe.Desired Settlement: I do not want to be charged a penny for this car rental and would like to stop any other unsuspecting consumer from using this company

Review: Reserved a car for 9am at the [redacted] location. Arrived to be told that they called me twice and left voicemails directing me to go to their other [redacted] location on [redacted] (LIE #1), and the car was ready (LIE #2).

I was also informed to take a taxi and they would reimburse my expense by reducing the cost of the rental.

When I got to the [redacted] location I was told that a customer was re-filling the tank on [redacted] and was on the way back (LIE #3). Over the next hour I was assured that the alleged customer called to say he was 2 minutes away several times (LIES #4-10).

As I continued to follow up about the car, the woman at the desk grew tired of my questions and blamed me for being late to the first location as to why they didn't have a car ready for me (LIE #11).

I asked her to stop lying to me about when the car would arrive. I was renting a car because I needed to go somewhere and sitting in the office was defeating that purpose. She finally threatened to refund my car and deprive me of the car, which still wasn't anywhere to be found (LIE #12). I'd had enough, called her bluff and made other arrangements, securing a car 3 1/2 hours after my original 9am reservation. She reversed the cost of the car, but I never got my reimbursement for the taxi (approximately $15, not sure because she kept my receipt.Desired Settlement: An apology for lying to my face a dozen times.

Closing their doors and until proper management is in place that will try to bait and switch customers by accepting reservations that they cannot fulfill.

This business should not be in operation. I believe they took my online reservation knowing that they did not have a car to supply at my desired time.

I was forced to get a car from [redacted] at a higher price. I was also late in dropping my sister off at college, running into massive traffic as it was mid-day when I finally hit the road. The difference in price was over $50. I would like them to refund me $50 plus the $15 taxi fare.

Review: When I rented a vehicle on January [redacted], 2013, the service clerk told me they did not have EZpass toll payment systems, but that I could go through the toll and they would send me a bill separate from the rental charge so that I could pay it. In August 2013, I noticed a charge of $135.00 on my credit card from the company and I called to inquire. After four days of calling I was finally able to reach someone who told me those were my EZpass charges along with over $100.00 in late fees they were passing on to me.Desired Settlement: I would like for the company to refund the late fee charges incurred on my credit card. I am happy to pay the initial toll fees.

Sincerely,

Review: This is my first time logging a complaint with the Revdex.com, and I hope it's the last. I an incredibly patient and lenient with businesses and services, but Prestige Car Rental is almost comical in terms of how poor their product is, how atrociously their service staff behave, and how much they antagonize their customers. Upon placing a reservation for a car rental for 8AM, I promptly arrived on the day of the reservation at 7:45AM. The service representative did not show up until 8:30AM, which was already unacceptable given that by then there were six parties of reservations waiting for their vehicle. The service representative did not appear apologetic, and took her time getting settled, sipping her coffee and chatting on her phone. I spoke up about it, as did others, and we were each gradually served accordingly. The car was in poor shape and cleanliness, and I asked for a different car to which her reply was that no cars are available. I proceeded to cancel my reservation, as the condition of the car and the service received was simply unacceptable. I was told that the reservation cannot be cancelled, and that $100 would be charged to the card. This was particularly comical because two days before my reservation my card was already charged $500 by them as a "deposit". They ended up returning $400 out of the $500, because I chose to cancel my reservation "at the last minute" according to them. I told the customer service representative that I am puzzled how they get people to rent with them again, and her response was, "I don't give a [redacted] if you rent from us again." I fought tooth and nail to get the $100 back out of principle. Finally, my bank had to compensate me, and Prestige walked away with the free money at the expense of my bank. If they had a lot of unused products and I cost them a car rental, I'd understand more. However, they were out of cars already, and more people with reservations were waiting and not getting any cars, and they could not return money they essentially stole. Unbelievable.Desired Settlement: I do not wish for any compensation from this company, and certainly would not accept their service even if it were free of cost. I simply wish for an apology by phone, email or mail. Honestly, I'm not even angry about this at this point; I am simply dumbfounded as to how they're allowed to operate, when their [redacted] page shows at least a dozen more such complaints.

Review: On the website it says to drive cars out of state it requires a [redacted]'s approval. It does not state anything about an additional fee. When I arrived to pick up my car they asked where I would be driving and when I told them Ohio the woman said it would be an additional $100 to take the cars out of state. The price listed online is for the tri-state area driving, but it does not list pricing for out of state. There is no mention on the website of an out of state fee. Also, the pricing online says it includes unlimited miles. Which I interpret as you can drive where you would like to as far as you would like as long as the car comes back on time. The information on the website is misleading that all is needed is the approval of a [redacted] and not an additional fee from the customer.Desired Settlement: Refund of the $100 for the out of state driving fee.

Review: I rented a car from prestige car rental on 2/**/14 for 2 days. I have two complaints.

Firstly the back tires were completely flat. They had no treads. It began to snow and rain and the car was too dangerous to drive. I had to park the car and have my friends pick me up until the weather improved.

Secondly, the wheels of the car had a locking mechanism on one of the bolts preventing anyone from changing the tire. The company did not provide the key for this lock. I got a flat on my trip and was unable to change the tire without being towed to a garage. The whole ordeal costs 100 dollars and 4 hours of time. Not only would prestige not reimburse me for this cost, they charged my $95 for damages. They have no been able to produce and itemized receipt for damages. Furthermore, they kept the car for a week before charging me for these "damages" so they may have been the one who caused it.2Desired Settlement: I would like them to cover the $100 I had to pay for getting the car towed. I would also like a refund for the $95 in damages and a refund for the $226 for the car rental. I was not able to use the car without the key for the lock.

Review: I rented a vehicle from Prestige car rental the weekend of January [redacted] 2015. I requested a vehicle that was in good condition because I have a young baby, my wife is pregnant with our second child and knew that it was going to snow a lot during our trip. When I received the vehicle I realized that it was an older car with almost 85,000 miles but the attendant reassured me it was in very good condition and in fact was the only car they had available at that location. Having no other option I signed the documents and left the rental place. After driving for 20 miles I realized that the brakes and the suspension of the car were not in great condition. Furthermore the tires were not properly inflated so I had to stop to a gas station to check the pressure and add air. Upon exiting the vehicle I realized that the central lock was not working and I had to manually lock and unlock each door. Furthermore there was no washer fluid to clean the windshield. The car gave us problems throughout the whole trip. I had to stop twice to add air to the tires and in fact had to cut our trip short and return to NY because I did not feel safe. Our trip back to NY took us 7 hours (normal it would take 3-4 hours) because of all the issues the car had. I have been driving for almost 20 years and never in my life did I feel scared for my life when driving. Please keep in mind I had a small baby and a pregnant wife with me. When I returned the vehicle and spoke to the supervisor she agreed that this vehicle should have never been rented to us but refused to give us back our money as this was not their policy. She proceeded telling me they are the cheapest place in town and we should have not rented from them if we had high expectations. When I explained to her that the reason we rented from them was because we live one block away and not because they have competitive prices she told us she would take care of us the next time we rent from her. We have no desire to ever rent from that company again. This vehicle is a safety hazard and Prestige should not be allowed to rent it out.Desired Settlement: I would like to receive a refund for our rental. I tried calling my credit card company to ask them to reach out to the merchant on our behalf but Prestige refused to even speak to them. I would like to report them to you and any other agency that deals with car rental places as the vehicles the rent are a public hazard and they should be carefully inspected before they are allowed on the streets. I thank you so much for your time and hope you will be able to resolve this issue for my family.
