Here is my experience with Paul Davis Restoration CLGA. (PDR) Upon discovering a water leak inside the bathroom wall in my home in the June/July 2012 time frame, I met with PDR personnel to discuss their repair plan. I did not get estimates from other contractors due to their assurance and trusted PDR to perform quality work. Upon final agreement on August 09, 2012, I signed an authorization for PDR to start the work. It’s noteworthy that I signed the authorization IN GOOD FAITH that the work would be accomplished timely as assured and that PDR would abide by the workmanship and quality specifications set forth in the Terms and Conditions portion of the authorization. On August 24, 2012, I paid PDR $3,792.55 to begin the repair work with $2,153.28 due upon completion.

When the sub floor installation began, the crew began nailing the sub floor to the floor joists in a rather hasty, irresponsible fashion, with some of the nails likely missing the joists. I immediately reported my concern by telephone to the project supervisor, [redacted] but later noticed that no subsequent action had been taken to remove the sub floor and install it according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. The manufacturer specifies to attach the sub floor with glue and screws which will provide optimal floor stiffness. Thus, it is clearly evident that the PDR crew was not fully knowledgeable about construction procedures.
In relevance to this, I received a letter in October 2013 from the PDR attorney stating that I indicated that I wouldn't pay $2,153.28 because I alleged that the flooring wasn't done properly. The supervisor, [redacted] had, in my presence, previously inspected the sub floor installation and had agreed with me that the sub flooring was not done properly. Also, my withholding the $2,153.28 payment was not only due to the sub floor issue but included other sub-standard work as well. Pay for botchy work? Not fair! PDR has failed to perform the work in a satisfactory manner as obligated by the Terms and Conditions section of the work authorization. Also, the agreed-upon project compliance time was violated by PDR and after more than eight months of sporadic, sub-standard work performance, my bathroom was/is still in a state of disrepair. Being forced to live out of our uninhabitable home for this excessive time period was costly and extremely stressful to relatives and to me and my elderly, incapacitated mother and is certainly deserving of compensation that I never received.

Paul Davis Restoration’s poor quality workmanship has caused me and my family to incur unwarranted expenses and much discomfort. I was unable to utilize the residence within a reasonable time due to the negligence of Paul Davis Restoration. It’s a real shame when a contractor is entrusted to do quality work but through ignorance about his own profession, creates problems that the homeowner will have to live with forever. In regard to the Paul Davis Restoration five year workmanship guarantee, how could anyone expect or trust a rework effort to be up to standard when the initial effort contains multiple, flagrant flaws, such as crooked tile work or horrendous paint work. I can not put any trust or confidence in Paul Davis Restoration’s workmanship. Involvement with them has been extremely traumatic for me and others and I would never, of course, recommend them to anyone. Paul Davis Restoration got more than $9,500 of my money but I didn't get a satisfactory product in exchange. Treating a homeowner/customer so unfairly in this manner after being awarded employment is certainly not ethical. In dealing with Paul Davis Restoration, I have, beyond any shadow of a doubt, been converted from a customer into a victim.

Hired contractor to fill cracks in basement as well as cut hole and install sump pump as well as waterproof basement Signed contract on the 29th of June 2014 along with downpayment 9870.00$. [redacted], owner of prestige and also [redacted] was the main person to do all the work. Work was to commence July 3rd and be completed July 17th 2014.When the week of july 3rd came the contractor did not show up to do the work and wouldnt return emails or phonecalls or texts. Had to go to his house across the city to get a hold of him, [redacted] Following week he actually showed up and cut out a hole and installed a sumppump as well as filled a bunch of cracks in my basement. The following week I had my siding done with another company which [redacted] said he was ok with and could work around. Then the week after that when [redacted] started digging around my house he damaged a few pieces of siding on the side of my house as well as denting the eaves trough and soffit. He also damaged faux brick on the front of my house taking off a corner and breaking a 2 foot by 2 foot piece. Trying to get him to dig the trench around my house was challenging, it took 3 months total to try and get him to dig and he kept complaining about the weather and mud even when there were weeks without rains he complained. For all of september he never set foot on my property so my property sat with two partial trenches at front and side as well as a side door that was not usable due to the trench(fire hazard) and a open trench(7ft deep) that was left exposed [redacted]. Also there was a week where I called him atleast ten times with no answer [redacted]. In august though [redacted] would randomly appear at my house without phoning me and then complain that I am not home and that he can do any digging because he can't get inside to run the weeping tile into the sump pump, even though he had not fully dug down to the footing around my house and was a ways from needing inside my house. Another part of the problem was my neighbor who was fine with taking down his part of the fence so we could do his side of my house but when he saw how slow [redacted] was and how he never showed up to do work and damaged the house he was discouraged from allowing us to do so. So for september [redacted] wouldnt touch my house because he wanted at the neighbors side next, even though [redacted] had two holes that would have prevented him to digging that side, but was unwilling to prove to my neighbor that he was competent and could get a job done. In the end I was forced to go with a new contractor in october because it was getting close to winter and trenches open on two sides of my house and when I asked for a refund he refused. The other contractor had no problems digging around my house and didnt even need to take down the fence and had everything done in less than a month. Although the did have to fill in the holes and re dig where [redacted] dug because his trenches were too wide and didnt go all theway down to the footing. [redacted]Desired SettlementThe total of the contract was supposed to be 23500$. To date I have payed 20497.5 towards the contract. The work [redacted] did was he filled 7 cracks in my basement that were on the contract and a few others that I never asked him to do. He cut out and installed a sump pit which to date still has no cover that he was suppose to install. He tore out some small shrubs in my yard, dug 30 ft of trench on the side and about 25 ft of trench in the front which didnt completely go to the footing. He also supplied weeping tile that was used by the other contractor. I have talked to the contractor and they said they would charge me 4000 to do the work he did. With that I believe the cost of the work he did to be about 5000$ so I would like a refund of 15497.5$
