Prestige Flooring & Hardwood Ltd Reviews (6)

We were introduced to this company through another contractor for our kitchen renovation (summer of 2013). After several weeks and a follow up to "repair" some shortcomings, the flooring is still the only aspect of this reno that we are very disappointed with. rocking tiles, uneven floor, cracked tiles over time. seemed to be a revolving door with the labour involved. Just a disappointing performance over all.

I had a flood in my home causing me to submit an insurance claim to which I chose PRESTIGE FLOORING to complete to required flooring work. On December 5, 2013, I had water damage to my living room floor. The flooring needed to be replaced.I contacted several flooring companies and decided to go with Prestige flooring in Saskatoon, SK.They did the work and the floors looked great. [redacted]. There was a section of flooring that was installed without first fixing the sub flooring, causing the sections to bend under my weight (137lbs) and separate.I called [redacted] (owner) at prestige flooring to have him come out and take a look. He made several appointments to come out . He never showed up and never answered his phone on the appointment days.I was finally able to get [redacted] to show up at 2:30 on September 3, 2014. he was very non-chalant and dismissed there being anything wrong with how the floor was installed. He laughed and commented, "You do realize that this is a 'floating' floor, and its supposed to move....???"I replied that it seemed off that there was only a 2' X 2' section that floated. I told him I wanted it fixed and that I was not happy. He said,"I will have my guy come out and rip it up, but if there's nothing wrong, your gonna pay for it."[redacted], I contacted my insurance company ([redacted]) and spoke to my adjuster, [redacted]. He agreed to come out and discuss with [redacted] and myself to witness that the floor was not installed properly or safely. He visited my home on September 11, 2014 at 3:15. [redacted] was supposed to be in attendance that day. I received a call from his secretary stating that he was running late, but that he would still show up. we waited for 30 minutes. [redacted] never showed up.[redacted] agreed that the floor needed to be repaired, and stated that he would help in any way that he could. On September 16, 2014, I called Prestige Flooring, and spoke to [redacted]. I asked why he did not show up at our agreed appointment. He stated that he was "just too busy".I explained that my insurance company is unsatisfied with the work done and that he needs to repair it. He said he would be in touchI NEVER HEARD FROM HIM AGAIN.Desired SettlementI want the money paid to Prestige Flooring (to repair my floors due to a water damage claim) REFUNDED to [redacted] Insurance, to hire an alternate flooring company to do the required work properly

They did not install floor according to manufactures instructions and now the floor slaps and creeks . With visible gaps. And voids their warranty. The floor was installed by Prestige flooring in Dec.2013. They did not install any underlay as per the instructions provided in every box, use proper transitions, have enough gap near the walls, ran it under cabinets, and did not check the floor for level. We told them the floor needed to be fixed in the fall of 2014. A member from Prestige did come out to look at the floor but against the manufacuters instructions, he nailed it down. Therefore voiding any manufacturers warranty. The floor continued to be a problem for the next year. He suggested in winter 2016 that we get an independent review from a flooring inspector. We had this done at our expense of 700.00. The indepth, 5 page report, states that the floor concern is due to installation issues and needs to be fixed.Desired SettlementWe are requesting a refund in the amount to remove and replace the flooring. We had quotes done. To remove the improperly installed flooring and replace new floor, to remove and replace trim and baseboards, toe kick removal and replace. The quote was a cost of $19,000.00. We are asking this amount to be refunded.

Complaint[redacted]On Oct 17, 2013, Prestige Flooring provided me with an estimate to replace the flooring in my kitchen hall and bath. On Nov 28, 2013, I paid a $4,000 deposit for the job. The work was done in the month of December. [redacted]. When I called about a few minor issues, the tiler came back to fix things. On Jan 10, 2014, I paid the final amount owing, $4278.48. In March, 2014, I noticed that there were several small gaps in the grout of the tile, as if the grout had shrunk and no longer filled the space. I called Prestige to speak to [redacted], the salesman we dealt with, and had to leave a message. I called repeatedly but it was over 3 weeks before I was able to speak with him. He assured me that he would have someone come to correct the problem. He would call me to set up a time. He never did. I called again in September, 2014, and [redacted] explained that this was a small job and he would try to have someone come to do when they were working on another job in the area. I never heard from him. I called [redacted] again March 19, 2015. He was out of the office at that time, but took my number and said he would call me when he returned to the office. He did not. I called twice again on March 26, but [redacted] was unavailable. Desired SettlementI want the work to be completed to my satisfaction. I want a warranty to ensure that I can have the work done by someone who is responsive to my concerns, should the need arise in the future.

We purchased 6 cases of ceramic tile. We should have had 2 cases, left over. The tile was faulty and we have one tile left over. We purchased 5 cases of [redacted], stone fire grey tile. We purchased the tile back in November 2013. We then came back in Jan 2014 and bought another case oh the tile just in case we had problems and so in the future we could have some extra replacement tile. My tile guy started to tile in January started with the floor and when he started to cut the tile, it started to chip the colour off and break for no reason. He has tiled for 10 years and he has never had this much of a problem with ceramic tile. He actually had to use his $1000 dollar attachment for his cutter to cut the tile. He was very frustrated with the tile. He ended up using all of the tile but one. We should of had two cases left over which is 12 tiles. I then decided to call the store and tell them about the tile and they told me they would talk to the boss and call me back. The boss never called me back. So us living 2 hours away, I could not just run to the store. So when I was in town I talked to the boss and another woman. [redacted]. He left his employee to deal with me and call the tile rep. The tile rep said to bring the tile that was left over and bring lots of the broken tile in. I told the employee that will be fine and that it might be awhile since we don't come to town all the time. They told me that would be okay. So we went to Saskatoon on April 3rd, 2014 and I brought the tile back in. The boss guy never came and dealt with me [redacted]. I was then talking to the of employee again. [redacted]. I told them I just wanted my two replacement cases just in case we had an accident. They told me they would call the rep again and if he gave them store credit they would give me store credit. So I left and they called me April 4, 2014 and told me that tile breaks and that they will not cover what we had to deal with. I then asked to speak to the tile rep as I wanted an explanation. No one has called, [redacted]. I know that tile breaks but not this bad. [redacted]. I am not asking for all of my money back I was asking for two cases if replacement tile. [redacted]Desired SettlementI am looking for the two extra cases of the stone fire tile just in case we have an accident and break a tile. They also told me at the store that they have stopped making the product and they have some in stock still. I just want replacement for the cases we had for just in case situation. [redacted]Business Response I have no record of this customer. Could they provide more information - Sales Receipt or Invoice Number. Was the purchase made under a different name?Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)The first purchase was April 29, 2013 and the sales receipt number is [redacted]. The second purchase date was at the end of January beginning of February. The day our tile guy said we will need more tile as it kept breaking and chipping. I also came in February 18, 2014 and bought a few more things. The sales receipt is [redacted]. The tile was installed correctly by our tile guy who has been tiling for 10 years. [redacted]
