Prestige Volvo Reviews (3)

From [redacted]On 3/23/16 a complaint filed has been closed and resolved as an issue (ID# [redacted])Thank You,[redacted]

Review: I purchased a used, 2006 Volvo S40 from this establishment on 3/21/15 and experienced a multitude of service and integrity issues which are listed below:

1. Vehicle was fraudulently listed as having 52k miles. After purchasing the vehicle, I recognized that it actually had 57k miles (a difference of 10%). Kelley Blue Book values the difference at $250. The dealership refused to compensate me for this difference

2. Vehicle only came with one key (as opposed to the typically two keys, especially considering that it was purchased from a Volvo dealership). This was not revealed to me until after I signed the paperwork to purchase the vehicle. The manager of the store committed to sending us a 2nd key which never occurred, nor would he respond to my follow-up.

3. The dealership was supposed to send us our license plate and registration within 15 days which is when the temp tags expired. We did not receive the plate and registration for more than 3 weeks so I was unable to legally drive the car. After multiple inquiries about the missing tags went unanswered, they finally committed to sending me an extension letter, however that never happened. When the tags were finally delivered it was delivered to the wrong address (even though they specifically told me that they would call to confirm the delivery address prior to sending).

4. The owner’s manual was missing which I did not discover until several weeks after the vehicle purchase. The sleeve for the manual was in the glove compartment, but it was filled with other documents in a deceptive manner.

5. Upon receiving letters from various financing companies after purchasing the vehicle, I learned that several financing options were withheld from me. I specifically stated that I wanted to consider a longer-term financing option and was told that 5 years was the longest that any of the lenders would agree to. However, I received an approval letter several weeks later from a lender which offered a 6.5 year term.Desired Settlement: I am requesting (i) $775; (ii) A 2nd key; (iii) and an owner’s manual such that the vehicle and services match the commitments and expectations at the time of sale. Details are as follows:

1. A 2nd key (which the dealership previously committed to, but reneged on)

2. $250 to make-up for the difference between the actual mileage and falsified advertised mileage (which was also falsely recorded on the sales paperwork)

3. An owner’s manual

4. $168 to compensate me for one month’s payment based on the fact that the longer-term financing option that I requested was withheld from me (most likely due to a lower kick-back from this lender…why else would they not at least present the option to me for my own evaluation)

5. $357 which amounts to 50% of the Government Certificate and/or Registrations Fees and Doc Fees given that they did not fulfill their obligation to send me the registration and license plate as agreed upon and falsified the Sales paperwork with fraudulent mileage

Review: I have been struggling with this vehicle since June. Purchased it mid May from [redacted]r Volvo in NJ.

The dealership told me they did and exhaustive 80 point check and this car is in very good shape they also stated they performed service every year for this car. If that was true how could they send me home with a bad drivers side break light and a severely worn timing belt. Items easily checked. I have asked for the service records many times and either I get no answer or ok but they are never provided. I presently had to replace the engine do to severe scoring and damage to the valves and cam shaft. I also must replace the turbo portion of the engine it is badly damaged and cannot be used on the replacement engine. The dealer has refused to take any responsibility or assist me in any way. I am hoping you can assist me. I suspect odometer tampering and Fraud on the cars condition. They stated they did a Volvo 80 point check on this car if they did they knew about these issues if not they did not tell me the truth.

I do not have concrete proof of this but the car has all the symptoms of a car with mileage over 125000 miles not 65000 miles. The dealership also used deceptive business practices and fraud. Making statements and promises they never kept. Selling me a car with many problems and not identifying them. Their basic attitude this is my problem not theirs.

• I had to replace the timing belt 8 weeks after purchase which was extremely worn, frayed stretched and cracked. The normal replacement for the belt based on Volvo maintenance plans is 105000 miles.

• I am experiencing continuing problems with cam shaft errors since July. The cars engine will need to be torn down to see what the issues are. Really in a car with 65000 miles?

• My service provider found that the cam and heads were full of sludge and the oil was burnt onto the cam rollers looks like a dirty barbeque grill in there. The engine will need to be replacedDesired Settlement: I spent $5500 to get the car back to running condition. I spent $10500 for this car 3 months ago, I want the dealer to provide me with the $5500 I spent. I also spent 2700 for a warranty which wouldn't cover this damage.
