Review: I have a [redacted] and have had it for 10 months when it started having a really loud knocking noise and sounded like a diesel engine when started. I took it to a trusted mechanic and he ran diagnostics and the conclusion was that the timing chain needed to be replaced. My mechanic informed me that there was an issue with the timing chain/fuel pump in my make and model and to contact the closest chevy dealer. I made my appt. to start an oil consumption test with the dealer and immediately the employee there by the name of Scott M[redacted] was extremely rude. I did speak with his supervisor and his suggestion was to "not deal with Scott next time". I told Scott that my mechanic mentioned the timing chain issue and Scott's response was "If you want to pay your mechanic $800 to fix it, that's your problem but GM disagrees". I asked "Did you even take a look at the timing chain?" and he replied "No, we're just starting the oil consumption test today". When asked what the rattling noise was he said "it's probably the timing chain but we're not taking a look at it until we finish the oil consumption test". I checked in at the 500 mile mark, as instructed for the oil consumption test and the mechanic said my oil was still full and he'd see me in the next 500 miles. 2 weeks later my car went into "limp mode" while driving and I was almost rear-ended with my son in the car. Jim price had my car for two weeks and charged me $100 and said the engine spun a baring down into the engine and it needs to be replaced for $6,000 and that it had nothing to do with the timing chain issue. I went to pay the $100 to Jim Price and the bill's explanation clearly says the timing chain was loose and damaged. Jim Price knew of the issue at hand and beat around the bush until it was too late. Now I have a car I can't drive until I pay off to have the engine replaced. The timing chain being loose and damaged created metal shavings that fell into the actuators and caused all this damage.Desired Settlement: The timing chain and fuel pump has an extended warranty since this is an issue known to GM for 10 years or 120,000 miles. I only have 91,000 miles on mine and it's 6 years old. I believe that Jim [redacted]/GM should be held for a breech of warranty. I was forced to add $4,600 to my auto loan to cover the replacement of the engine because Jim [redacted] refused to help at all. I also contacted the chevy dealership that I purchased the car from and was told they'd get back to me and I've inquired to them 4 times now and I'm being ignored. I've also emailed GM's customer service and it's been two weeks and have yet to have a response. I definitely think they've breeched warranty.

[redacted]Revdex.com804 648 0030 Dear [redacted], Per your request for a response to case [redacted], I have reviewed the situation and do not believe there was any breach of warranty. When Ms. [redacted] brought her vehicle to us she had a timing chain noise and a concern of oil consumption. Per GM guidelines ( bulletin 13-06-01-003h attached ) we informed her that we needed to be able to document the oil consumption concern. This would require us to start a consumption test ( Which we did RO 6111270 attached, 90054 miles ) and if we could show the vehicle using more than 1 Qt. in 2000 miles , we would be able to replace the pistons and the timing chains at the same time . The vehicle only exhibited timing chain noise at that time if the oil level was low ( It is the customers responsibility to keep the oil level in the operating range even if the vehicle uses oil ). She returned at 90561 as directed to check the oil which was full (RO 6112002 attached ).Her next visit was at 90988 for engine noise that was determined to be a connecting rod failure ( not related to timing chains. RO 6112718 attached ) . The vehicle warranty for this expired 1/27/2015. We have no service records for this vehicle prior to her first visit. We are happy to answer any questions related to this matter. Thanks, Ray P[redacted]Service DirectorJim Price Automotive
