Price's Mobile Home Service Reviews (1)

We have experienced issues with poor quality products, wrong size products installed, lack of service and communication, and not adhering to warranty.Price Mobile Home Services (hereinafter Price)performed the measurements at our home and ordered doors from [redacted]; the doors were brought to our home and installed by Price. Price installed [redacted] series [redacted] door units on the front and back of our home. The back door unit was installed on 9/9/14. When the lights in the hallway were turned out, outside light was easily viewable on the hinge side in the upper portion of the door. Price replaced the door hinges on 9/19/14, which did not resolve the problem. On or about 10/20/14, after several phone calls and e-mails later, a serviceman from [redacted] replaced the inside door only, and this still did not resolve the problem. On 9/12/14, the front entry door of our home was installed by Price. The weather stripping/door sweep on the bottom of the front door had tore all the way across, so while the [redacted] representative was at our home for the back door, we asked about the problem with the front door as well. The [redacted] rep instructed us to use the weather stripping/door sweep from the old [redacted] door off the back and fix the front door with it, he left the old [redacted] door core, and he left. On 11/5/14, the whole unit on the back of our home was replaced with another new unit by Price. You could still see outside light coming through at the hinge areas and could also see that the insulating stripping on the hinge side was still not making appropriate contact with areas of the door, but it was better than the previous [redacted] door. On or about 11/22/14, we talked with Price regarding the trim that was installed around the front door unit; the bottom piece of trim was completely missing. I drove to the warehouse for Price; Price gave us a new piece of trim to fix the front door ourselves. On 12/15/14, an e-mail was sent to Price requesting that they take a look at our front door. We noticed a lot bigger issue with the front door unit. The weather stripping/door sweep at bottom of the front door tore AGAIN, twice. Upon further investigation as to why it kept tearing, we noticed the bottom of the door looked uneven all the way across. With the door sweep tore again, and looking more closely, you could see light coming in from the bottom, and with the weather getting colder, you could feel the draftiness. Price came to our home on 1/19/15 for the service call. Price inspected the door, took several measurements, and stated he would be checking into the issues with the manufacturer and would get back to us since he could not figure out why there was a gap and the door was uneven at the bottom. That same evening the slide hinge for the screen area on the storm door broke. We informed Price of this additional problem. We tried to contact Price several times between January and April regarding the issues with the doors, without response. We finally received an e-mail back on 4/22/15 stating there was a problem with the warranty, even though the problems detailed were in direct correlation with instruction and cooperation from both [redacted] and Price. We have received no further offers for service and no additional communications from Price.Current issues with doors:*Bottom of the door is uneven going across, you can see outside light, and outside air/drafts are coming in from underneath.*Weather stripping/door sweep keeps tearing, most likely caused by the unevenness.*Outside air/drafts and outside light are coming in at the hinges.*Hinges are rusting.*Lack of adequate contact with the insulating strip resulting in poor insulation properties.*Retractable hinge/pull for glass that can be raised on the screen door is broken.*Gap around the inside jamb; A 4-1/2" depth would have fit much better in our home, and apparently it is an option for mobile home doors; WRONG size doors installed. We have experienced terrible issues with poor quality products, wrong size products installed, lack of service and communication, and not adhering to the warranty originally advertised (we have a copy).Desired SettlementWe have taken time off work for initial installations and numerous door issues. We have had a delay in our project (not only the door portion of our project, but also other improvements that have to be done after the completion of the doors). We have had increased energy bills due to the inadequate seal and insulation of the doors as well as gaps. We have wasted time and effort trying to resolve the issues with Price Mobile Home Services directly. AT THIS TIME, we are seeking a full refund of what we paid to Price Mobile Home Services for the products and installation. We will be happy to provide the [redacted] doors to Price after the full refund is received. If this cannot be settled through the Revdex.com, then we will carry this complaint further.Business Response The only warranty we(Price Mobile Home Svc) offer is on the installation. The warranty on the door is through [redacted], the manufacturer. When the homeowner called with a problem with the front door, we went out and made sure the door was level, plum and square. The homeowner informed us that he had removed the storm door from the casing and had also removed the interior core door to replace the door sweep. I checked with [redacted] and was told that taking the door apart voids their warranty. If the [redacted] rep told them to replace the door sweep on their own, then that is between the homeowner and [redacted]. You don't have to remove the storm door to replace the j-channel or siding, so I'm not sure why the homeowner did that. We will not refund the money for the door since the door warranty is through [redacted]. The doors were installed correctly, so that money will also not be refunded.Consumer Response Installation issues:1. The wrong size doors were installed, both front and back doors. Upon encountering several issues with the doors and not receiving any communications from Price for some time, we did some investigation and found that a 4-1/2" depth is available for mobile home door replacements. The 4-1/2" size should have been ordered and installed by Price. We have had additional home improvement providers inspect and give recommendations on the situation, and the new provider will be going with the wider depth.2. Price would be correct in stating that j channel would not have to be removed to ONLY place some j channel at the BOTTOM of the door. However, as we stated to Price when we obtained j channel from them for the correction in November 2014, the j channel on the sides had to be replaced because it was cut too short to begin with during the initial installation. The j channel on the sides were screwed into during installation, so it would have to be unscrewed to replace it with a longer piece.3. The j channel was completely missing at the bottom on the front door. We are only speculating, but we suspect this is why Price did not notice the sides were too short and there would be gaps between the pieces. We were able to recycle a short side piece to place across the bottom and use new full length j channel for the side pieces.4. The caulking that is required in the [redacted] on-line installation instruction video to prevent leaks at the bottom threshold, was not done.*Initially the communication and cooperation was fine, and the Prices seem like very nice people. We had the impression that the Prices were sincere about doing the job right. We are not sure why it took such a turn, maybe because all the issues are just exhausting. We were depending on the mobile home experts to do the job we paid them for, correctly. We realize that mistakes will be made from time to time, but we should not have to suffer loss for it. We would appreciate the Prices abiding by the advertising on their website in reference to providing quality parts and professional installation and doing what it takes to make the customer happy. We tried to resolve this with the Prices alone, to no avail. We do not desire to proceed any further with the Consumer Protection Agency. We are still hoping that this can be resolved through the Revdex.com.(Pictures and video cannot be attached at this site.)
