Pride Originals, Inc. Reviews (1)

Review: We approached this business for a quote on our existing drawing for our kitchen. The owner offered an estimate. We agreed to do business with him. He used words like "we can have what we want", "his quality is better as he uses 3/4" plywood and not pressed board" and we liked that. Problem - We did NOT get the custom cabinets he said he would make for us, instead we got what he decided we should have. We are very disappointed needless to say. INSTALLATION ISSUES: 1. He hired the installation out and gave them no instruction or clear drawings. They installed the west wall incorrectly. When this was flagged to him, that day, he became very unpleasant to work with. We agreed to accept this even though we were not pleased. 2. Upper Cabinets were installed to the ceiling. We learned that he did not make the 42" cabinets we ordered and were up-charged for. When this was brought up to him much later in the process as we did not realize it until after the electrician installed lights. He said they were installed incorrectly. He stated that they were supposed to be down an inch and the 2" trim would have covered the gap. We knew nothing about this at the time of installation, nor was that what we ordered. He did not correct it with the installers at that time even though he knew they were not installed as he had planned. He let the job continue, and had no discussion with us, and just modified the trim. Note: When calling the installer on March 16 after we were told this, the installer confirmed that this was known but decided to not fix the cabinets but instead modify the trim. Now in order to fix this we would need hire the electrician to move lighting, as well as new trim and three new cabinet backs for the electrical boxes. We are left with cabinets 1" higher than standard, exposing the prior cabinet screw holes. QUALITY ISSUES: 1. Cabinets incorrect size. - he obviously did not transfer our drawing to his system correctly. He made several changes to our plan that we were not even aware of. When he was called in to see some of the problems, namely a 24” on one side of the window and a 21” on the other side which was not on our drawing. We got a story that he did this on purpose. Later that night he sent an email stating he was incorrect on part of his statements. He came to get the cabinets to fix them and is now expecting us to pay for his error. Note: He himself reinstalled them to the ceiling which he knew was not correct basis his plan. 2. Particle Board was found in several locations. Given our unpleasant experience with him on previous quality issues, we chose to let it go. 3. Cabinet doors - He first brought the wrong ones. He admitted that he hired out the wrong doors to be made. We told him we wanted what we ordered. He said it would be an additional two weeks. Note: We were told he makes everything except the drawers when he gets busy. 4. Door Quality - Staining - The staining is poor, it has bumps in it like there was dirt particles in the stain. When this was brought up to him he said to take paper and rub the bumps out. This not only does not work, he made scratches when he did it. 5. Door Scratches - When this was brought up he said "I could take them and try to get the scratches out" He made it pretty clear he was done with our job and we just needed to accept it. 6. Finishing - he seemed annoyed when we brought filling in the nail holes on the wood trim to complete the job. BILLING - 1. Tax - He does not consistently keep labor separate from materials. So he is trying to collect more tax than is correct. 2. Charges for his errors - he is billing for his errors of transferring our drawing to his system. 3. Charges for things not delivered. He is trying to bill us for the 42" cabinets that we did not receive. Note: Once this was flagged to him. He changed the invoice to say 41" cabinets with the upcharge. There are many other issues and concerns with this business we have. We just tried to highlight some of the major ones. We have compiled more details and photos of these issues should this complaint proceed to litigation. FINAL PAYMENT - We sent our final payment flagging several of the issues above. We have now received another invoice in the mail. Causing us to file this complaintDesired Settlement: He accepts our last payment as final and complete.
