Prime Auto Sales Reviews (2)

I bought a VW Passat 2012 from this dealer in Jan 2014 through [redacted].
I asked for the CarFax report before purchase and the seller provided a Carfax report which said the Car had minor collision damage on Jan 13, 2013.
In December 2014 I wanted to trade this car in for a new one through a VW dealership. I provided the dealership with my VIN number, and they stated my car had been rebuilt according to the Carfax report that they ran at that time. After hearing them say my car was "rebuilt", I paid to have a CarFax report run for myself, and found that report said "Total loss vehicle" dated on Jan 13 2013 (this was the same date of the minor collision damage that was listed on the CarFax provided by Prime Auto).
I reached out to Prime Auto Sales and asked for clarification and they said "Carfax is not updated in a timely manner". After further comparison of the CarFax report that was given to me by Prime Auto, and the CarFax report I paid for through CarFax directly, I realized that there were other inconsistencies, and I assume or doubt that Prime Auto had manipulated and changed their CarFax report so that it excluded major vehicle history. It is just my assumption so my assuption could be wrong.
Their “doubtful” manipulation of this report resulted in me paying more than the car was actually worth, and the significantly decreases the amount of money I can expect when I go to trade it in or re-sell it. If I had known that my car was in a serious accident resulting in total vehicle loss, and had to be rebuilt, I would not have purchased it.
They use the excuse that CarFax is not updated on a timely basis, and the vehicle is from an auction but at the time I purchased my car, the missing information on the CarFax report was about an incident that had happened 12 months prior. Additionally, there were other details that were omitted, such as “Title or registration issued to insurance company” which is likely related to the rebuilt title and the insurance company totaling the car out for its previous owner.
My complaint through Revdex.com did not go further as my complaint was more than 1 year from the transaction, but at least I wanted to let every potential customers know Prime Auto Sales is not trustable at all according to the experience which I had with.

Review: On Friday, [redacted], 2014, I made a final payment, towards the purchase of a 2004 [redacted] which totaled in the amount of $4,274.65, to "Prime Auto Sales" located at [redacted], New Jersey. The nature of the purchase was, "As is."

When shown to me for sale, the vehicle was in an operable condition. The salesman, "[redacted]" and owner, [redacted], testified as to the reliability and "great" performance of the vehicle. As the vehicle was functional and appeared to be in good condition during the test drive, I agreed to the sale price. I arranged for a series of payments to be made to the dealership, while they retained ownership and possession of the vehicle.

Upon final payment for the vehicle, I had arranged for the vehicle to be towed from the dealership to my residence, because I had not secured insurance to drive the vehicle off of the dealers lot. When the tow company and I arrived to pick up the vehicle, the salesman, "[redacted]," went to retrieve the vehicle from the dealers inventory. While "[redacted]" was preparing to deliver the vehicle, it became inoperable (the vehicle had lost "reverse" power). At that time, both the salesman and the owner, Mr. [redacted], where unsure as to what was wrong with the vehicle and said that it was "working fine earlier that day."

As the vehicle had become inoperable while in the dealer's ownership and care, I declined receivership and ownership of the vehicle (both vehicle and keys remained with the dealer). The vehicle had broken down, before complete delivery was made and was a serious road hazard. The owner attempted to spray the automatic shifter with an oil lubricant, "WD-40" but failed to make the vehicle operable.

After a series of failed attempts by the owner and two (2) hours, I requested a full refund of my money paid ($4,274.65), which the owner refused to do. I telephoned the local [redacted] Police Department and visited their headquarters regarding the matter. They advised that the dealer had to return my money, as it was within a 72 hour window and I had not taken "ownership" of they vehicle. Additionally, they advised me to file a formal complaint with the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission, Dealership Division, and the New Jersey Revdex.com.

I am seeking a full refund of the money paid, $4,274.65. I also would like my horrible buyer's experience to be recorded against this dealership and owner, "Prime Auto Sales" and [redacted].Desired Settlement: I am seeking a full refund of the money paid, $4,274.65. I also would like my horrible buyer's experience to be recorded against this dealership and owner, "Prime Auto Sales" and [redacted]
