Received car with brakes that were not done, as [redacted] said the car would be checked over from top to bottom before delivery. On test drive of 2005 Jetta, I noted to Mr [redacted] that the car seemed to "shake a bit". Mr [redacted] informed myself and my daughter that car will be sent out for a complete inspection, including any mechanical issues such as tie-rods, brakes. Purchased car 3 days later and brought to my personal mechanic for a full check. Mechanic called and said brakes are so unsafe they needed to be done ASAP, and exhaust clamp sleeve was rusted off and broken and would not pass inspection. Since we live a distance away, I told my mechanic to make the repairs as I would not drive the car back to Prime as I felt and was told by mechanic it was unsafe in braking. Called Mr [redacted] on 6/23/14. Said owner would call back. Called Mr [redacted] on 6/25. Said he or owner would call back. Left message 6/26/14. No call back. This car was never sent out by Prime "for a check" because there is no way these issues could have been missed. I have the rotors in the trunk to show Prime, as well as exhaust clamp. No response.Desired SettlementI want reimbursement of what I had to pay my mechanic of [redacted]Business Response the 05 vw jetta was sold the customer test drove the car, liked it put a deposit on it, then came back and paid for it in full, few days later I got a call from ms [redacted] stating she had the rotors and pads replaced on the vehicle, she only called after the fact. she did not call me when the mechanic was checking the car only when the work was done and a bill for $[redacted].how do we know the work was done, if she had called us first before the work was done we could have got the car back to us and have the work done for a fraction of what they had it done for, about [redacted] for parts and 1 hour of labor.plus the car was on sale for [redacted] with a [redacted] tittle fee and $ [redacted] doc fee that would have been [redacted] they bought the car for [redacted] they saved $[redacted].just like another customer brought in a slip for a battery for [redacted] we buy the batteries for $ [redacted].we could not stay in business if we sent out checks and paid retail prices for parts. thank you Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)My mechanic, who is trustworthy, would be very glad to speak with you. I also have the parts to show you. Also, Mr [redacted] told myself and my daughter that the car would be checked over from top to bottom when I mentioned the "shaking" and any issues would be fixed which is the key point here. There is no way the car was checked over, as the exhaust clamp that was rusted off was an easy find/fix and would have caused us to fail inspection. AND, my mechanic very emphatically cautioned against driving the car with the brakes in the state they were in. His words were "there is no way I would let that car drive off my lot, nor would I let my daughter drive it". That means a lot to me.The price of the car does not matter, as I took Mr [redacted] work that the car would be checked over. You failed to do so.You also didnt have the decency to respond 1 phone call, which alone says a lot about your business practices. I have documented everything. My mechanic will testify in court, so we will see you in court as you not only put myself in danger, you put my daughter in danger by not checking the car as promised.Thank you.Final Business Response the customer should have called us first before the work was done, we would have had the vehicle brought back to us and the repairs be done only by us or our mechanic, if we had every customer have there own work done and send us the bill we would be out of business, thank youFinal Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)No. The work should have been done when the car was supposedly "checked over" as PROMISED by Mr [redacted] before us taking delivery of the car, especially when Mr [redacted] told us what the process was, and before we drove that car off that lot. The car was obviously never checked over, and I specifically asked Mr [redacted] on pickup what was done to the car during the check over process. I was told "oil change and light bulb change". The brakes and rotors were so bad, (and I have these rotors along with the rusted off exhaust clamp that would have caused the car to fail the inspection) sitting in the trunk waiting for your call that never came to text pictures or bring to you for your inspection of them) that my mechanic said that he would never allow anyone to drive that car as you gave it to us with those brakes and rotors. YOU failed to deliver what was promised. You also put myself and my daughter's lives at risk with such brakes because of not delivering what was promised. We arent talking about a regular brake job. This car shouldnt have been driven off that lot and my mechanic will testify to that. Does Mr [redacted] actually think that I would drive the car back to Worcester from Gloucester with those brakes for work that should have already been performed, especially when they failed to provide what was promised in the first place, especially when Mr [redacted] told me directly upon my questioning that all it needed was an "oil change and light bulb change"?Also, Mr [redacted]' figures on the cost of the car, etc, is incorrect.

I purchased a vehicle from Prime Automobiles on 8/24/2013. The car was not road safe and I declined the purchase. the dealer kept part of my money. On 8/24/2013 I purchased a 2002 Honda Accord with 98,625 miles on it. the purchase price for the vehicle was 5,995.00 plus 205.00 document preparation fees. I paid $3,000.00 downpayment with check number XXXXX from my credit union (Digital Federal Credit Union)locatedin Marlboroug, MA. On 8/29/2013 I went to pick up the car and I drove it around before paying the rest of the money to the dealer. I tried driving the car up a hill and the car was dying on me. Car the was stalling and shaking. It was not safe to drive and I told the salesman([redacted] what had happened and he tried to convince me that the car was fine. I told him that I did not want the car and that he should not try selling to anyone else until the car was fixed. he told me that if I backed out I was going to lose my deposit and the $205.00 document processing fee that they charged me. I told him that it was not right what they were doing trying to get me to buy a car that was not safe to drive and pushing people around so they can keep their money. He told me that there was nothing he could do and I told him I was going to call back. I tried calling several times but he would not answer my phone calls. He kept ignoring my calls and I had left him messages to call me back and he never did. I had a firend of mine call him from his work phone and then [redacted] answered. My friend told him that I was requesting all my money back because in the contract it stated that if I was not happy with the vehicle that I was entitled to receive the money back. [redacted] talked to the [redacted] and I was told that I would get all my money back. I was told to wait a few days for them to process a refund to my credit union. I got tired of waiting and I tried calling them again several times but [redacted] refused to answer the phone. I left messages again and on 9/8/2013 they finally refunded $2800.00 of the $3000.00 I gave them for deposit. The service I received was the worst I have received in my life. the way I was talked to by this car dealer when I complained about the issues with the car was humiliating. I felt like they were trying to make me feel like I was commiting a crime. When I was at the car dealer and I asked for my money back they even tried to keep the copy of my contract, and I demanded that it be returned to me. this people should not be allowed to conduct business. I have a limited income and for them to try and take the little money I have in the way they have is criminal. Desired SettlementI want the rest of my money back. $200.00Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted]Contact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXXContact Email: [redacted]@verizon.neton 8/24/13 MR.[redacted] CAME TO PRIME AUTO TEST DROVE THE HONDA ACCORD, AFTER THE TEST DRIVE HE SAID IT NEEDED NEW ROTORS AND PADS,WE TOLD HIM THAT WE WOULD HAVE THE REPAIRS DONE AND HE CAN PUT A DEPOSIT ON THE VEHICLE TO HOLD IT,HE WENT TO DCU FOR A LOAN HE GAVE US A CHECK FOR $3000.00 WE WAITED 48 HOURS AND MADE SURE HE STILL WANTED THE VEHICLE,WE TOLD HIM THAT AFTER WE STARTED THE REPAIRS THE DEPOSIT WAS NOT REFUNDABLE.AND HE AGREED TO THAT.
