I hired ***, owner of Primetime Construction, to install a cement walkway around two sides of my home. The contract included the following:
1) Dig down 4 inches & remove earth across the rear of the house and down one side.
2) Put a base coat of crushed stone which homeowner has.
3) Put down two inches of concrete.
4) Install grading to prevent cracking.
5) Pour in final amount with cement.

Mr. assured me he could professionally install a cement walkway. Upon arrival from work, I discovered my home (cedar shingles, painted shingles and doors, outdoor table, deck box, and hose box had been splattered with cement. It was uneven and poorly done. He informed me he had hired “a kid fresh out of rehab to help him out”, which he apologized for and admitted was a bad idea. He had another one of his employees come in to finish the walkway. They used ***, which was not what we had agreed on. It covers the bottom shingle of my home, which will cause significant damage (water damage & rot). The walkway was doubled in height in order to correct the first job, and poses a fall/tripping/injury risk as it is much higher than my grass level. My young child cannot play in the backyard due to safety concerns. I told Mr. that I was not satisfied and he stated he’d “promise to make it right” in the spring. When I contacted him in the spring, I was told he did everything he could, and went “above and beyond” for me. The walkway has cracked over the winter in multiple places; a clear indicator that grading was not used. This construction worker caused a great deal of grief and caused an extensive amount of damage to my home.

To whom it may concern,

I did a walkway for ***, before doing so, I informed her that her backyard needed to be back filled because she explained to me that she had a pool that was improperly filled with debris and was caving in. She insisted on continuing with the walkway and I informed her that when we were done that the walkway may crack because her yard is sinking which is also why you see that one side of the walk way is visible, The yard drops down 10 inches or so. As far as hiring someone right out of rehab, I have no idea where she got that information from. I even made her a fire pit with the stone removed from her old walkway. I went above and beyond for her. She didn't like the fact that cement was on her house so I painted her house for free after the fact and above all she loved it. I asked her to go over the job before paying me as I do with every customer. She informed me that she was happy with the job and the work and she signed off and paid me. I feel as though she is not entitled to a refund.

Thank you

With respect

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # ***. Please add your rejection comments below.

My backyard did have an inground pool and was filled in and loam, seed & fertilizer were placed. I did not intend to use any additional soil for my yard, as it would cause rainwater to enter my home and cause serious damage. This is completely untrue information that is being provided by this alleged professional business owner. Prior to *** starting the job, I cleared rocks that made up my previous rock walkway. *** did NOT construct the fire pit as he claims; it was created entirely by me. His claim is a blatant lie. I have included pictures, and can submit them alternatively, showing a time stamp prior to the jobs start. The walkway is clearly incorrectly done. Is is uneven because it was done incorrectly, and *** had to hire another guy to pile on bags and bags of ***. It is an embarrassing and unsafe mess. I was informed by my neighbor that *** solicited then, asking them to give him a good referral, as he “really needed the job and the money”. My neighbor refused, but he continuously mentioned them, claiming to be friends. My neighbors later approached me to apologize and said they couldn’t refer him, as they barely know him. *** said the job was completed, but I was unhappy, and informed him. He called numerous times, left messages, and arrived without notice at my home, begging for the remaining money. He was abrasive and aggressive, saying he needed to feed his family and “his guys”. I agreed to pay him, and he agreed to return in the spring to correct his sloppy work. I contacted him in the spring and he refused to return, stating that he went “above and beyond” for me. I made it very clear that I was extremely displeased. ***’s egregious claims that he painted my house for free and created a fire pit for me are absolutely false.

Regards
