I recently attended a Pritchard Auction in DundasThe auctioneer, Steve Pritchard, couldn't have been more than or minutes into the auction and was progressively reducing the asking price on a small item trying to get a bidIt was the usual $50, ok how about $25, no? how about $etcA young lady put up her hand and said $to which the auctioneer said "sold for $10"The young lady spoke up politely and said I actually bid $for the item not $ I was aghast when, in a tirade, he chastised his patron saying that "he, and only he, set the prices" and that "if she didn't like it she could leave"He was literally that abruptHe was unnecessarily harsh and rude to this patronI think the whole audience was stunned at the auctioneers hostilityAfter we thought about it for a few minutes, we got up and left in disgustKeep in mind, we were only the ones who witnessed this auctioneers rudeness, not the ones his rudeness was directed towards, but we will never go back to buy anything from this auctioneerI should also mention, the auctioneer had no preamble regarding any rules of the auction before the sale
