Did not address warranty issue within the manufactures warranty period of 5-years,so the labor costs are not covered and materials are prorate.
KP was contacted several times well within 5-year GAP shingle Algae discoloration warranty, but didn't elevate this to GAF, which was covered in their warranty. KP told me there was nothing that can be done about the shingle discoloration. As the condition continued to worsen. I decided to contact GAF myself, 5/2017 (2009 installation date) after evaluating the shingles, GAF determined they were defective and honored their warranty, but since the claim was submitted after 5 years of installation, labor is not covered and the shingles are not covered 100%, only 72%. In addition, the workmanship is shoddy, some shingles have came loose and separated from the flashing. This also was brought to KP attention, nothin has been done.

Desired Outcome

According to GAF, this roof must be replaced as the shingles are defective, GAF is willing to replace the shingles at 100% if KP pays for the labor and other associated roofing costs.

We installed the roof on January 13, 2009 with a five warranty which ended January 12, 2014.

On December 15, 2011 Mr *** called the office after he found a piece of scrap shingle in the yard. A salesman responded and inspected his roof. There were no missing shingles from the roof. There is no record of complaint about discoloration and I was not contacted by phone.

On July 20, 2017 Mr *** called our office requesting a removal of shingles for him to send to the shingle manufacturer since he had filed a claim of algae on the roof.

I was never contacted about the algae problem during the warranty. The roof has never leaked after replacement. First, My warranty requires written notification. My notification from Mr. was by email on July 18, 2018 (4 years and 6 months after the labor warranty expired & 9 years and 6 months after installation). Secondly, it is a manufacturer's issue, not a labor issue. Thirdly, He never paid the invoice in full

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
On December 15, 2011, I contacted Randy C, an employee of KP regarding roof flashing that required attention after the new roof was installed. During his visit, I pointed out the shingle discoloration that was very apparent after only 2 years, suggesting having them cleaned to improve the appearance. He did not encourage this, as it would void the roof warranty, mentioning it was algae and there was another that can be done to improve it. As far as I'm aware of, all the invoices has been paid in full. Randy being an employee of KP, I didn't think it was required or necessary to submit a complaint to KP in writing since I Brough this up to Randy in person, thinking he would excallate this to his management, which wasn't done until several years later, leading up to this situation.
After finally contacting Keith directly In July, he visited the residence to see the discoloration and some shingles that required re-fasioning. He also suggested to have the shingles cleaned using a professional service. This was completed on 8/29th with successful results.

The shingle manufacturer has paid to clean the roof. The customer has stated to Revdex.com the results of cleaning were successful. We installed the roof on January 13, 2009 with a five warranty which ended January 12, 2014.

Roofing installed a new metal roof for my parent's home about 2 years ago. The ridge cap never had a screen mesh installed.
The correct installed of a metal roof will have a screen mesh or a breathable foam strip that is supposed to go below the ridge vent cap. This allow warm air to escape roof, but keeps leaves and debris out. I asked *** about this when he installed it, and he said it would be fine. Well, it's not fine. We now have lots of leaves and debris falling through the ridge vent down on Mom and Dad's new insulation. *** sent guys to clean all the leaves off one time, but never fixed the problem. We will have more leaves and debris this fall if not fixed correctly. I have photos and email correspondence. I have left multiple emails and calls with no response for 6 months. I need this fixed correctly, or I will hire another company and KP Roofing can reimburse me.

Desired Outcome

KP Roofing needs to either fix the problem, or reimburse me for another company to fix it correctly.

Pritchett Roofing Response

It was not in our contract, neither was Mr *** originally charged for this product. Note that there are no leaks from the roof, but tiny pin oak leaves blowing up under the ridge . Primarily from the trees overhanging the home. At Mr ***'s insistence, We sent guys to clean the leaves out of attic and install closures on the ridge vent. He stopped them and stated he wanted another kind of closure. We have since agreed on a closure we will purchase and install at our expense. Mr *** was NOT originally charged for this and we agree that he will not pay anything.
