When reviewing their website - you can click on this site ([redacted]) which provides a false advertising of what they can provide. Clicking on the "view" as stated in their response does not state or given any additional information that they have. If anything it falsifies what they can provide but do not have the capability of doing so. They do not have an easy access website that shows the true amount of information that they have. Their website does not provide in advance an accuracy of what they are selling and what they can offer. They have on their preview page of financial reports of the Houston Texans of years going back to 2003 which was not provided in the report given. The website provides false advertising through their claimed "view page". It is not acceptable or good customer service to provide a false sample of a private company reports and provide an actual report that lacks the data that their website actually provides. No where on their home page states to call in advance to verify information before purchase or on the screen page to make purchase. Attached is a screen shot of the page of when selecting to make a purchase stating all information that will be given in report. It does not state if and only if they have such information available. If they are to post amazing reviews then should provide amazing service. Regards,[redacted]

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

As a first time user (and probably last), there are many mixed signals from the website (see attachment).  The term "Company Financials" indicated in several places (including the checkout screen attached and the sample report link) would clearly indicate or imply to most professionals much more data than sales, total assets, and total employees.  It is their business and they can adopt whatever pricing model they want to but their price is the same for a full report vs. financial tidbits?  Whether intended or not, the deception worked.

We thank the customer for presenting their concerns and we would like to address them: PrivCo sells reports on privately-held companies, and always includes the information we claim to provide on a company-by-company basis. The point being made by the customer is the exact reason that we have...

the 'View' field -- so there is no confusion between what will be available on any individual company report once purchased. There is no limit to the number of previews a customer may have with any report, so every customer knows before purchasing any report, exactly what to expect. If you look at the number of 'View' fields available in the company preview for the PrivCo report on the Houston Texans, shown to the customer before purchasing, there would be nothing less in the actual report than the available information shown, furthermore there was no claim of full financial statements for this company. If the information the customer is looking for was not available, the report may not have been for them. We offer the 'View' feature to be as transparent as possible so the customer would know exactly what the report would contain prior to the purchase. The customer would be made aware of all available data fields, without the specific values/amounts in the preview version. It is very uncommon for us to receive notifications of this type because all customers can preview exactly what will be available on a report-by-report basis before the purchase of any report, as we sell thousands of dollars worth of reports per day, and our customers all seem to be very satisfied with the information they obtain. What many customers do -- and what we would suggest next time -- is to call the main office before making the purchase to confirm what fields will be available. This is very common, and any PrivCo representative would be more than happy to go over exactly what to expect in any report.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved becauseAgain, the check out page does not direct the customer to call to verify that what is claimed in the view section is what will be given. What is shown in the "view" is and example of what can be provided. The first initial report given did not contain the information that they claim to have in the "view" section. Anything that is has been updated since then is of no use since that information was needed the day of. No where does it state on their site to call in advance of purchasing such reports to guarantee that the information bis available. It only states to call, but does not state that they can or will give an honest response in stating what exact information that they have.

The 'View' field is available for each individual report to show what exact data points will become available once the report has been purchased. We suggest that a customer calls to verify that certain additional information will be available in the report, if they are looking for certain data points beyond what is not shown with a 'View' hyperlink in the company report preview. We state on the company report preview page that each report will be available within one business day, so that our analysts may provide quality assurance to make any updates to the report during this time. In addition, the customer is able to access the report for up to one year if any additional updates become available. We provide the main office phone number numerous times on each page of our website, which a customer may call if they are looking for specific information in the report, to verify whether this information will be provided or not. Any of our PrivCo representatives would be more than happy to go over exactly what information would be available in the report though this really should not be necessary because customers are shown exactly what will be available for each individual company short of giving away the actual values in the data fields for free.

Review: This company is a total sham. They sell overpriced "private" reports that DO NOT include the information they claimed to be providing, including full P&L/BS/CF for several companies that I wanted. They make you "buy" the report before you can see it. And it did not include what was promised.Desired Settlement: They receive bad marks on them and people know this company is not providing the services they claim.

Regarding the customer's concern -- PrivCo does not claim to have "full P&L/BS/CF" for any company if the data is not available. Review: Company indicated it provided "Company Financials" for a single access report and provided a "Sample Report" that provided complete financial statements. The report they actually provided included only Sales, Total Assets, and Number of Employees. If their definition of "Financials" is select tidbits of financial data that is deceptive advertising.Desired Settlement: Please provide full financial statements or return $199 payment.

Review: I am looking for financial statements for a privately held company, specifically an NFL team Houston Texans, for a strategic management report and found information via [redacted] however, I needed more specific information and their website advertises that it had such. The report provided was a joke, there was more information on [redacted] website than what they provided and the numbers they had did not match what I had seen prior.Desired Settlement: The business needs to be clearer on their website and must reach out to customers when product is purchased to provide accurate information otherwise money is wasted that could have been used for other means. This is absolutely poor customer service on their end.

Review: - The Website advertises the sale of Research reports on Privately owned companies

- The website displays sample of reports that customers can expect with very detailed financials - including detailed revenue and cost breakdown etc. --> and you have to pay them ahead of receiving the report

- I ordered a report on 'Shapeways', that came up with a quasi-empty financial section ... and when I reached out to privco to ask for more complete financials info similar to the one advertised on their website, I never got a reply.Desired Settlement: Provide a complete financial report or return my money

Business

Response:

The level of information available in one PrivCo report versus any other can vary significantly, the free sample report customer is referring to is intended to show the maximum capabilities of PrivCo. Our organization, compiled of private company research experts, certainly understands the variable amount of available information across the private company universe and thus implemented transparency measures from the start to avoid complaints like this. Before making any purchase or submitting any personal/payment information whatsoever, users have the ability to see a pre-purchase view of any PrivCo report. This is done countless times each day so visitors to the site know exactly what they will receive with a given report before making any purchase. These pre-purchase views of our reports replace any specific names and numbers with the word ‘View’, showing precisely which fields will be available on that specific report once unlocked and updated via a report purchase. The Shapeways report in question clearly showed which fields would be available once purchased/updated, it is very clear and apparent that all lines from the particular company's financial statements would not be available. Revenues, expenses, profits, employee counts, and productivity figures are available for the years indicated: [redacted] We are always happy to explain what would be available with any report before any customer makes a purchase, our support staff does this on a daily basis. For this particular inquiry, there is no record of the customer emailing [redacted] Our team is extremely responsive and emails to Support are always answered.

Review: What they show as a sample report and what you get after subscription is nothing alike.I have ran 3 reports on companies I was interested and the amount of information on the report is less than 1% of the sample report. ITS FALSE ADVERTISING AND BAIT AND SWITCH FRAUD. COMPANIES LIKE THIS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOW TO MARKET! IF THEY JUST ALLOW USERS TO SEE VIEW ONLY REPORT ON COMPANIES CUSTOMERS ARE INTERESTED, IT WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM. IN MY CASE, I WILL NOT PAY A PENNY FOR SUCH JUNK. I HAVE ASKED THEIR CUSTOMER REPRESENTATIVE TO REFUND MY $599 + TAX FOR ONE MONTH SUBSCRIPTION WITH NO RESPONSE. I HAVE ALSO ASKED [redacted] TO STOP THE CHARGE AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO DO SO DUE TO THEIR DECEPTIVE SALES METHOD OF HAVING CUSTOMERS SIGN A LONG AGREEMENT PRIOR TO ACCESSING THE DATA.If no refunds can be made, I want other know that this company is a fraud and change their practice to protect customers.Thank you!Desired Settlement: Just return my fee of $599+ tax. And stop them from using this same tactic to defraud customers seeking real information.

These pre-purchase views of our reports replace any specific names and numbers with the word ‘View’, showing precisely which fields will be available on that specific report once unlocked via a report purchase or subscription. For example, if a company has never received funding, there will simply be no “Funding” section in the pre-purchase view of that company’s PrivCo report. In the same light, if that company had received funding, the pre-purchase view of the report would have the funding information and replace the specific amount of funding with ‘View’ until purchase (in which case that user could see the exact amount/figure). Any visitor has the ability to check the pre-purchase view of any PrivCo report before creating an account and purchasing, there is no limitation or restriction. This ultra-transparent practice is the maximum length we can go to before giving information away for free. If the customer viewed the pre-purchase versions of the reports in question prior to subscribing, they would have been shown exactly what would be available after purchasing access. Because PrivCo offers this extremely transparent option to every customer, the company cannot issue any type of refund once unlocked information is viewed and downloaded from our member area.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I have read the response from my complaints from the company representative. I agree that having the "View" report for the company you are searching is helpful but only when a customer can compare to what is available on the sample report. If all the fields that were available on the Sample report - [redacted] was laid our showing fields which the data is available for chose company, a customer can easily make a distinction between what Privco can provide for the company he or she is interested in obtaining data. If you compared the number of fields available for Capital Access Network, or Merchant Cash & Credit (two of the companies I have searched) to [redacted] (Sample Report). Taking out obvious public info such as name, address, SIC code etc, THE NUMBER OF FIELDS WITH DATA ON [redacted] VS. THESE COMPANIES IS 100 TO 1! On financials. Sample report has detailed breakdown field by line item. Real report on CAN or MCC has one line - annual turnover!PLEASE HAVE THE PRIVCO MAKE IT CLEAR TO CUSTOMERS THAT THEY ARE GETTING A ONLY ONE FIELD FILLED OUT COMPARED TO 100s OF FIELDS BEING FILLED OUT IN THE SAMPLE REPORT. OR SIMPLY, DO NOT MAKE REPORTS ON THESE COMPANIES WITH OBVIOUSLY INCOMPLETE INFORMATION AVAILABLE ONLINE TO BE PURCHASED. A minimum P&L, B/S data should be the cutoff line. It would be interest to know how many request for refunds are made by customers who had similar experience as me. Sincerely,[redacted]

Response:

We thank the customer for presenting the additional concerns below and would like to address them: The point being made by the customer is the exact reason that we have the 'View' field available -- so there is no confusion between what will be available on one company report versus another. The sample report is extremely thorough which is why it was selected as the sample -- there is a lot of available information and show's PrivCo's capabilities when that type of info is available. There is no limit to the number of previews a customer can get with any report, however, and viewing the purchased report prior to purchase would indicate a different level of information from the sample. If you compare the number of fields available for Capital Access Network or Merchant Cash & Credit (as mentioned by the customer) to those of [redacted], yes -- the [redacted] report would have significantly more fields -- but customers could have determined this on the report preview page very simply before purchase. If the information they were looking was not available, the report may not have been for them. We offer the 'View' feature to be as transparent as possible. Regarding the customer concern "On financials" -- I reiterate that this was made clear and is always made clear to any customer prior to purchase. You will know if you are getting full financials, just revenues and employees, revenues, employees, net income, # of locations, or any other set list of line items -- this is not hiddenCustomer requests PrivCo "make it clear to customer that they are getting a only one field filled out compared to 100s of fields being filled out in the sample report". PrivCo honestly feels like we have made this as clear as possible without giving away hard-to-find information for free. If you look at any one of PrivCo's reports, you will know what you can expect at the minimum once purchased and accessed.Regarding the suggestion for "A minimum P&L, B/S data should be the cutoff line", we appreciate the suggestion but that would change our entire business model. We offer customers as much information on private companies as possible. If we have P&L and B/S data, that will certainly be available and the customer would know this prior to purchase. It is not common that we receive refund requests in this type of situation because the customer can preview exactly what will be available on a report-by-report basis before purchase and we sell thousands of dollars worth of reports per day. Our customers all seem to be very satisfied with the information they obtain. What many customers do -- and what I would suggest next time -- is call the main office before making the purchase to confirm what fields will be available. This is very common.
