Attention Prospective Car/Truck Buyers***
If you're looking to purchase a vehicle just to get around, take you from point A to Point B: Save your deposit and save your money. You're better off going to DriveTime or someplace else where the company HONORS their word.
Promises, Promises, Promises and warranties that were agreed upon are never placed in your contract. Purchased a vehicle from this company in early 2020, vehicle had problems. Reached out to car salesman (no answer -incommunicado). It was evident the person was "ducking & dodging". I asked them about the warranty, they don't remember putting it into the contract. Now, they have "selective amnesia". After speaking with one of the owners, he's unaccountable for his salesman actions and chooses to disregard an agreement.
If you don't want to experience THIS...THIS!!!! I implore you to look but don't touch. Matter of fact, don't even look. Keep driving and take your HARD EARNED MONEY elsewhere. You'll be glad you did.

Went to go get a vehicle from prize auto saturday January 18th 2020. Gave all my information. Chaz the employee said I got approved asked for an down payment got all my bank information social security card bank statements ect. Processed my downpayment. Then told me I need insurance on truck I was purchasing. I went go insurance on truck. He tells me let's be safe to make sure everything falls through with bank and come pick up vehicle monday January 20th 2020. Didnt think anything of it because it was an weekend but was confused because I got insurance on truck made my down payment and all. So monday comes I sit in there for 4 hours he tells me waiting on bank to call. Bank finally calls and the other worker tells me bank called and also just sent over the check. Okay cool. Chaz comes out of his office about 30 minutes later and says everything will be set and ready to go on Tuesday January 21st. Call me by 1. Call I get no answer all day finally I spoke to a female and she says your denied by the bank.
Wouldn't give me no reason. Went up there trying to figure it out he said bank denied me and he will refund me. This business is very very poor made me wait multiple days with no answer. Spending my money with them wasted 310. On car insurance on a vehicle that I never owned.

Dear ***,

In regards to the complaint submitted by the customer *** (Revdex.com ID: ***), I really wish it was vetted before being forwarded to us. Obviously, *** needs to cancel his insurance and get his full refund back since the vehicle was never registered under his name, neither was any Bill of Sale issued that would obligate him to have an insurance on the vehicle. And if the insurance company fails to grant *** the monies, he can then address the complaint against the insurance company.

Unfortunately, there is no way we can be held responsible for any monies collected by other institutions. I understand *** might feel irritated that he had to give us a visit a couple of times and wait on our premises, but again, unfortunately, the decision to finance *** on any given vehicle is not given by us, but by the financial institutions based on ***'s credit worthiness, provable financial standing, his work history, etc. All the factors that do not depend on us.

I hope the information above is helpful. Should you need further details of the events, or should you have further inquiry, comment or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us.

We expect you to clarify this matter and get back to us with confirmation,

Sincerely, Sean G.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:
The reason I got insurance on this vehicle was because the sales person named chaz told me I got the vehicle that the loan that I received required me to have insurance on my vehicle before I left the lot. Then for 5 days ignored my call to where I had to go up to prize auto and sit round for hours because the sales person lied to me about everything. If I didnt get accepted for a loan why lie to me for 5 days make me put car insurance on a vehicle I am not getting. I was unable to cancel my policy.
Also I have been working steady for 4 year making 4,000 dollars a month there reason for not accepting me is all lies. I reported this company because I feel as if they are scamming people.
They had me in the office told me the bank sent over the check and everything will be ready . Then told me come back the next day. That's not how car selling works. You get accepted the first time your there not wait round 5 days. This company needs to be looked into. Ok ll accept the fact that I wont be getting the car insurance money. But this company needs to be looked at more. Thanks for your business.Regards

Dealer refuses to honor the 90 warranty to repair anything wrong with the car. It’s been in the shop 2 times without fully fixing the car. The AC has been recharged 3 times but it needs a new compressor and line. The doors set the alarm off and don’t lock and unlock properly. The check engine light turned on the day it was driven home after purchase. We took it to get diagnosed at *** and they said it needs new O2 sensor & thermostat sensor. We notified them right away and have been playing run around games ever since. They are trying to push us off until the 90 days run out so they don’t have to fix the car. They have nothing but excuses about how the owner is out of the country. Every time we go in there’s always new employees that don’t know anything. They are playing games and not honoring the warranty to fix the car. Please help me. I’m 23, disabled and this is my first car.

I bought a car May 3, 2019, The next day the engine light came on, I reached out to the dealer via email and phone. I was told to bring the car back so that they could look at it. I took the car back they checked it out and it needs a catalytic converter, they mechanic said that its covered under the warranty. I asked him how come they didn't know something was wrong with it and he said someone must have erased the code. On the Maryland state inspection report which was done 4/22/2019 at *** in waldorf says that the catalytic converter passed the inspection. I have been trying to get the car fixed for a month now and they keep giving me the run around. Every time I call or go up there they say oh we ordered your part we are just waiting for it to come in. I have been trying to get the car fixed for a month and nothing is happening

On March 31st,2019 I purchased a vehicle qith prizo auot signing the paper work and everything with the loan being approved. Ive had the vehicle for 2 months. Within these 2 months I have been contacting the dealership in regards to my previous conversation qith the bank. I called the financial company to see when ny first payment would be recieved and the bank told me that, they are still waiting on the dealership to send the rest of my information. The dealership has contacted me to send them several documents which I have done. After doing so I called the dealer repeatedly trying ro get information on the status of this loan being as though they fasley gold me I was approaved. At this time I go to the dealership where they then try to get more money out of me for a car thats not up to standards and shouldnt even be put on the lot for a sale. The vehicle they told me I was approves for and I drove off with is a 2016 ford escape. Where the registration is in my name and the insurance. The dealer took my temporary tags off my vehicle and said that they would report the car stolen. So they called the cops and the cops made it clear. That I have the right to take the car because its in my name and its insured with my insurance company. The dealer has been callinh and harrasing me about reporting the vehicle stolen when its not. When the cops came the manger told the cops that I came in that same day to test drive the vehicle and refused to get out of it. The cops realized that the dealer was lying. And reporting false statements. The owner of the comapny wants the vehicle but refuses to refund my down payment. And want to charge me fir driving the car. The guy I was dealing with name is regie. And the lady name is Liz.

The initial approval for the deal is given 100% on the information’s provided by the customers related to their income, job, address etc. After that, the financing company reserve the right to verify this information’s. If they prove not to be accurate they can return the deal to the dealer and refuse to fund the deal. In such a case we have to repossess the car from the customer and he is supposed to pay for the expenses occurred.Going to the particular case of ***, she provided wrong information’s about her job and income. As a result the deal was not funded and we had to recover the car. Finally we refunded the full amount of the down payment to her (even she used the car for 2 months and we was entitled to charge her for the miles she put on the car, more than 7,000 miles). We are in this business to sell cars, and we are doing our best to help the customers get vehicles because this is the purpose of the business.I attached a copy form our system with the communications between us and the financing company, proving we did our best to get this deal funded. If you take a look you will see there was more than 1 month 02/12/2019 and 03/14/2019 where was completely silence, because *** was not able to provide proof of employment and proof of income. We tried almost every day to get in contact with her but she was not answering on phone or email. Finally she failed to provide proof of income so the deal was returned to us.If you have any questions let me know.John NManaging Partner

I have a host of complaints. I purchased a vehicle in December 7, 2017, but I have had to rent cars for $295.00 weekly due to startup up issues with the vehicle. I took the vehicle back to Prize for them to service, and they had the vehicle for over two weeks and the issues still exist today 1/16/18. I now have expired tags from Prize on the vehicle and the vehicle is unable to pass inspection, but I am being told to drive it anyway. The vehicle is financed and I put down $4,500 on the vehicle. The vehicle is unable to pass Maryland state inspection due to a cracked screen and no wheel lock being in the vehicle for it to pass inspection. The sales agent Hannah promised a full tank of gas would be in the car at pick up, but she lied the vehicle was on empty once again. Then, Hannah called me an "uneducated bh" and hung up on me on 1/16/18 at 2:45 pm, she such a courteous worker. Then, Lisa the title clerk who did not explain the title process, when asked, throws me on hold knowing I am unable to pass inspection. Then, when I asked for the owners name to file a formal complaint, I was hung up on. I feel threatened, because I was warned by the service manager Richard Ad, that "he, is trying to help me but he is busy" but if I file a complaint, I will not be assisted and the vehicle issues will not be resolved, and I can have my state handle the matter, but since I see no resolve to date, and its been a month, I needed documentation and I am seeking a suitable solution. They are unprofessional, rude, disrespectful, and they are scamming customers out of their hard earned monies and I need you help to fully resolve this matter.

In regards to complaint submitted by the customer *** (Revdex.com ID: ***) please be advised that this matter is addressed to us in an error. We are not the institution that this customer had business with.

Please check your records and confirm this with the customer. We can only assume that the customer is referring to the following institution:

Prize Auto

Alexandria VA ***

We are a separate entity in a different state. We operate in the State of Maryland whereas the institution that the customer is referring to operates under the Commonwealth in Virginia.

I went here in need of a SUV. They didn't Maryland inspect it and had us take it to Virginia to get inspected. They were going to fix it so it would pass and never did. In the mean time they was working with my fiancée and I on the down payment. I used my Navigator has a trade in they gave me $700 for and we also post dated checks for them to cash for the down payment. They never put the checks in on the dates we agreed. And they didn't ever call us to try to fix the problems. One day the Receptionist Lauren came to my house and demanded I bring the truck back so I told her it would have to wait until my fiancée got home. She agreed and left. Next thing I know she came back and ripped the paper tags off the truck and still demanded I bring the truck back. I called the police because I was not driving a vehicle on state roads without tags. When the officer called her she told him the contract was messed up and they needed the vehicle back. She came with dealer tags took the vehicle and got rude with me. Needless to say they wouldn't give my money or checks back and they would not give back my navigator. She said due to the contract. BUT the contract was voided due to they messed up.

This letter is is reference to complaint submitted to the Revdex.com by *** (ID #***).Attached to this letter, you will find the following documents: Original letter received by Revdex.com (2 pages)After 3 preliminary investigation into this case it was discovered tha*** initially contacted us on June of 2016 with the intent of purchasing a vehicle. She wanted to finance her next car. Her Navigator and additional cash amount was accepted as the down payment. However, as it is the general, rule, failure to provide legitimate documents proving the buyer's identity, income and residence or failure to take the first payment due to the financing institution will cancel the financing contract. Any claim or request to have the down payment returned will be left to the goodwill of our institution. And placing such a claim a year after the events will not have any grounds since I am sure that her case was looked at a year ago and a decision has been made to not accommodate such a request.I am looking forward to your consideration and further feedback or this case. Should you request additional investigation into this case, please return us a follow-up inquiry and allow us up to 30 days to open up our archives.

Owner refuses to honor implied 30 day warranty because he gave me a discount.

Prize Auto of Waldorf Response

We understand that our business depends on the quality of the vehicles sold and the customer provided the sale. Hence, we accommodated *** in our premises multiple times, attending to the issue that was discovered after her purchase. We conducted the diagnosis on the vehicle free of charge for her. Based on our findings, we recommended her to visit official *** dealership to have the vehicle inspected and services since the *** that she has purchased is still under factory warranty for emissions components. She declined to have the *** dealership to attend to her vehicle because, and I am quoting her here, "the dealership wants $125 for old diagnosis."

No matter how hard we try to satisfy our customers in order to earn their return business and positive word-of-mouth advertising, certain times we are unable to accommodate all their wishes. Unfortunately, the case with *** is one of those cases. We have done all within our abilities to serve another happy customer (i.e. discounted price, extended customer service, free diagnostics, etc.). However, we are unable to serve all her needs, especially since they are above our reach.

I hope *** decides to follow the correct path which would be to take the vehicle to an official *** dealership to have them diagnose the vehicle and implement the right remedy. I would like to stress this out one more time that her vehicle's emissions components are covered by the factory warranty until 80,000 miles odometer reading or the year 2021.

I am looking forward to your consideration and further feedback on this case.

Sincerely,

Ziad A

Customer Response

replaced the part that needed fixing at no charge because it was still under warranty. I just believe that Prize Auto should have treated their customers better and not sell them cars that they knew needed work on them. It only costed a few hundred dollars for the part, I just don't know why Prize Auto just didn't fix it before seeing it. They knew the part needed replacing because when I brought it there the mechanic turned the check engine light off, the next day it came back on. I believe the shop has been turning off the check engine lights knowing there is something wrong with their cars and still selling them which is foul and puts their customers at risk. That's just running a bad business. I just hope they realize that and don't do that to anyone else. I am still awaiting my tags and registration for their car I purchased after that there is no longer any issue I have with prize Auto. I just want them to fix their cars before selling them so no one else has to go through what I did. Thank you.
