Auto shop failed to repair brakes properly, never provided a receipt, and then lied about the work that was done. Brake job was incomplete. The work that was done was incomplete and inferior and this resulted in brake dysfunction and additional repairs while on the highway. Rotors were resurfaced to the point that they were nonfunctional when they should have been replaced right away. Mechanic admitted this, then lied about it later stating that "client was advised he needed new brake rotors" when in fact this was never stated and the mechanic admitted he didn't take an adequate test drive to notice the damage that was caused from over-resurfacing the rotors instead of replacing them. Mechanic also lied about the costs, never provided a receipt at the time of payment, and then lied about the actual charges in a receipt that was sent to the credit card company. Desired SettlementI am seeking the full cost of the work that was improperly done in the amount of $256.07. There were additional costs including breaking down on the road, more repairs, and time spent missing work that are not included in this complaint.Business Response In response to complaint filed against Pro Auto Repair LLC, case #XXXXXXXX. Client brought vehicle in on 2/26/14 for a brake system evaluation, stating that there was a vibration in the brake pedal whilst braking, that he was leaving town and wanted his brakes serviced before the long drive. The brake system evaluation revealed normal wear on both front & rear brake pads, as well as scoring on the brake rotors, most likely caused by over-heating of the brakes, resulting in warped brake rotors. We recommended replacement of front & rear brake pads and replacement or resurfacing of front & rear brake rotors. Client was advised that resurfacing of rotors MAY correct and resolve the vibration issue. We offered to resurface the rotors, at no cost to the client, and if the vibration persisted, we would then replace the brake rotors. The client agreed with our recommendation, the brake pads were replaced and the brake rotors were resurfaced. During the repair, our computer system started malfunctioning, not allowing our printer to function. The client was kind enough to help us resolve our computer issues. Unfortunately, our computer system had to reboot and the client did not want to wait for our software to come back online. The client paid for the services rendered, he DID receive a receipt for the CC transaction and we informed him that we would contact him as soon as his invoice was printed, so he could acquire his copy. Roughly 10 minutes later, the invoice successfully printed and we contacted the client. He stated that he was still experiencing a vibration, as well as a "Burning smell" from his brakes. We let him know that even though it was passed our scheduled closing time, we would stay at the shop so he could bring the vehicle back for brake rotor replacement. His response was that he would "Bring it in tomorrow" (2/27/14). The following morning we contacted the client, to schedule a time for him to bring the vehicle back to our shop. The client's response was, "The smell is gone, I think everything is okay." We emphasized that he should still return for a reevaluation, especially considering he was preparing to drive 4+ hours the next day. The client chose to disregard our advice and NOT return to our shop before leaving town. The next day (2/28/14) the client called, stating that he was about 60mi away and that the vehicle was shaking on the highway. Again, we advised him to return to our shop before continuing his journey, so we could properly resolve this issue. We even offered to replace the brake rotors at NO LABOR COST. Once again, the client chose to disregard our advice and continue driving to the mountains. The client has also falsified his statements to both his bank and to the Revdex.com. The client stated that the rotors were "Too thin to function," which is false, considering his vehicle never lost the ability to stop. He stated that he has attempted to resolve this issue with us directly, which is clearly false. The client disregarded our advice to return to our shop before leaving town, and has refused to answer our calls or return messages since 2/28/14. The client also stated that his vehicle broke down on the highway, but was somehow able to continue his journey. He has not provided a receipt from a towing company, nor an invoice from another repair shop to us, his bank or the Revdex.com. The client stated that we did not provide him with a receipt, when he is well aware that he helped us resolve our software issues and chose not to return to acquire his invoice, though he WAS issued a receipt for the CC transaction. The client also stated that there was time spent missing work, when he was clearly planning a trip to the mountains, whether we serviced his vehicle or not. We could go on, pointing out that almost every statement this client has made is false & slanderous to our business. To what end, we are not sure, but clearly his statements do not add up. In conclusion, we do not offer refunds, we fully warranty our parts & labor. If there is a problem with the parts we provide, we replace them at not cost. Even though the client was advised that resurfacing MAY correct his vibration issue and we did NOT replace his rotors on 2/26/14, we were willing to replace them at NO LABOR COST. Since the client refused to return to our shop, left town BY HIS OWN CHOICE, is STILL driving on the parts we provided, has not shown us an invoice of services rendered by another shop, has falsified his statements to his bank and the Revdex.com, and most importantly, has NOT attempted to resolve this matter with us directly, we consider this matter closed.
