Pro Diesel has not taken responsibility for misleading quotes They do not give written estimates as a practice and bragged about itI have a recorded statement from Charlie stating quoted prices are not honoredThat he does it all the timeThat is not honest business practice. My complaint is simple, Pro Diesel has charged me $to diagnose what I already knewIts absurd to give an estimate for a " head gasket replacement" and charge the customer for a diagnosisI knew very well before I even called them that my head gasket was faulty. They stubbornly insisted that my head gasket was fine and performed other work that I approved before ever driving the vehThat was terrible communication between the service writer and the owner/ mechanicOnce the owner finally drove the van he knew MY diagnosis was correctPro Diesels poor communication cost them double work and put them upside down on the jobThey simply refuse to take responsibility for this. Thanks again for your efforts, Mark ***

Complaint ID [redacted]Mr. [redacted] called my Service Manager Darrell for a quote for a head gasket on a 2004 Dodge Sprinter Van 2.7 liter diesel engine and per Mr. [redacted] Darrell is not a Tech.  Darrell quote him $ 1,400.00 for a Head Gasket Sight Unseen.  When we received the vehicle, we...

suggested to do our own diagnostic because if we install a head gasket and that is not the problem, he would be up set with us.Mr. [redacted] did want the water pump,  T stat and fan clutch replaced at that time.  He did OK the diagnostic.  He also said he had 2 other Mechanics tell him it needs a Head Gasket.  I replied why he didn't have those Technician install a Head Gasket, he replied they are not Diesel Mechanics.  We continued.  Mr. [redacted] was kept in the loop at all times.  The Tech and I continued to diagnostic pressure tested the cooling system 3 different times after the leaking water pump was replaced, fan clutch and T stat was replaced. The cooling system held pressure every time which we called and told him so.  He insisted that when he drives up I17 to Black Canyon City up the Hill, the vehicle over heats.  We were not told that it had to be driven up hill Black Canyon City until this point.  I took my time trying to help Mr. [redacted] resolve his concern.  I did verify the cooling system builds pressure and pushes past the Rad Cap he had installed.  His Cop was a 14 Psi and the vehicle takes a 20 Psi.  With that said, we put a 20 Psi Cop and under pressure engine still pushes past the Rad Cap.Finally verifying the concern with the head or head gasket having a problem, Mr. [redacted] was quoted $ 2,800.00 head gasket, water pump, T stat Rad Cap all together.  Frustrated he refused the price and stated that was to much money and offered to let us do the job for $ 2,000.00.  I told him I could come down to $ 2,500.00 nothing less.  He was also sent a copy of the estimate.  We proceed as he OKed the price.  Doing this job was costly for us as we did bye specialty tools at no charge to Mr. [redacted].  The injectors sized themselves in the head and have to be pulled out with a special tools.  All this time Mr. [redacted] was in the loop of what removed and inspected.  The head gasket showed no sign of leaking.  We contacted Mr. [redacted] to see if he wanted to proceed and put a head gasket on or send the head out and have it checked for cracks or if it was worped.Mr. [redacted] picked up the head and had another machine shop check and mill the head returned it to us.  We proceed to reinstall head and gaskets, all new head bolts, reinstall injectors, coolant and retested.  At this point the vehicle starts and runs fine, test drive upon 3/4 acceleration.  The engine would stall, We could restart and continue but stall again, upon further testing and trying to get information on this particular vehicle.  The information is very hard to find, also contacting a Dodge Dealer that we work with testing needed more tools which we purchased to do this job. Mr. [redacted] was contacted and told where we are with this job and trying to get info for this vehicle. Mr. [redacted] looked up info that he could find to help.  The tools to test the return rates on the injectors showed that one injector failed and 2 others are on the edge of failing.  Mr. [redacted] was called and his immediate statement was it was not like that when he brought it to us.  I replied that anything can happen, the vehicle has over 220,000 thousand miles and the injectors had to be pressed out of the head.  Mr. [redacted] was very well aware of what needed to be done, we replaced the failed injector, we charged for the injector no labor, cleared all codes retested the vehicle ran great.  The bill for this job should have been $ 5,000.00 to $ 5,500.00 dollars and we tried to help him at $ 3,077.47.Please see RO to see what was tested.  We also repaired AC concern under the seat at no charge.  Please see all attached copies.Sincerely,Charles A. I went to pro diesel, and they were very professional. I have a 2003 LB7 that needed new injectors. They replaced these without issue and at a very fair price. I would def. do busniess with them again.

It was that time again, the yearly license renewal which required my [redacted] to also be emissions tested. For the first time it failed. Though I've been to many repair shops over the years this first experience with the staff and subsequent repair work was the finest. And since they also work on all gas vehicles they will get those when work is needed. It has been a month since the work was done and though the truck may be old and ugly its engine rumbles and runs like it was new.
