Pro Roofing contracted to put CertainTeed shingles on my roof with Stainless nails that I agreed to pay $300 extra for. They violated the contract.
My wife and I had to refinance our home to finally be able to pay for the roof replacement on our home at ***. We accepted several quotes from various roofers in the area and went on the internet to get an education on "the best" roof that we could afford. In short several professionals, including Heath at JGA Beacon, a major source of roofing supplies for the Melbourne area and incidentally the supplier of the supplies for my roof, who all stated Certainteed Landmark Pro shingles were the best. Online, a very compelling article about research that was conducted by The University of Florida entitled ***" (http://cdnassets.hw.net/6e/ea/d3e979f84711a5a4ffef71a26d35/uf-fbc-3-2-16-fasten...⇄ explained how Electro-Plated Galvanized nails failed early especially in areas near the ocean. On March 27, 2018 I met with Cal T a salesman for Pro Roofing about his Proposal in my home and we modified his original quote of $10,010 to deduct a $500 coupon we had from Hometown News and to add the $300 increase for using stainless steel nails. We also specified Certainteed Landmark Pro shingles(the word Pro was omitted by Mr. T as well as other things he had promised). The workers came and tore off the old roof and made a huge mess in my attic and garage from the falling debris. I was then charged for 27 sheets of plywood and 36 man hours to repair my roof in addition to the agreed price of $9,800. When the roof was being installed, my wife noticed the shingles were GAF not Certainteed even though the color was correct and I noticed the nails weren't stainless after the install. I tried to reason with them about the screw-up because I thought at first it was accidentally ordered wrong. But it occurred to me that in order to get the color correct that had to look and the contract which also contained the specification for the nails and Certainteed shingles. You'll see from my certified letter that I am willing to settle for a minor discount as opposed to wanting them to redo the job but they have been so arrogant and have never bothered to even try to make the claim that their act was not intentional.
