I used ProCheck Engineering for our home inspection and was extremely impressed with the company and Alan G [redacted] in particularAs a custom home builder, I've met several home inspectors in the past that tend to focus more on the cosmetic items and miss the more important structural issuesThey tended to generate more of a "punch list" than an accurate assessment of the home and created alarm where none was warrantedNot AlanHe was thorough, practical, and reasonable
I have used procheck engineering twice for my home inspections before purchasing a homeThe first time I used procheck, Alan G [redacted] was the one who conducted the inspectionMy wife and I felt very comfortable after the inspection, so much so we used him a year later when we bought another homeAlan has done a fantastic job for us both times and the company was very easy to work with for scheduling the inspectionI would recommend this company to anyone in need of a home inspection!
We follow up on every complaint and do not release our insurance information In this case I discovered Mr [redacted] harassed our inspector for six hours during and after the inspection in order to influence his findings As a wealth manager he understands the quickest path to easy money is through an insurance settlement The document he signed during the inspection is clearly marked as a legal contract which prescribes dispute settlement procedures This type of agreement is standard in the industry and protects us from unreasonable claims There is no mention of insurance in the contract No dollar figure was discussed in his conversation with [redacted] and all correspondence was handled as quickly as possible Mr [redacted] does not mention the many defects included in the inspection report which he undoubtedly used in his negotiations with the sellerWe are offering to settle this dispute by refunding Mr [redacted] 's inspection fee of $which should cover the minor repairs he mentions According to the ASHI Standard of Practice the inspector is not required to identify or report cosmetic imperfections that do not affect the component's intended function This house is years old and a certain amount of wear and tear is to be expected

We had to have a structural engineer evaluate the foundation of a house we were purchasingVery hard to find one and ProCheck has oneThey were substantially cheaper than the other two I had foundDid a great job! Had to have him come back to do a re-inspection after a repair was made and they were reasonable cost-wiseI was told it would be a week before it could be re-inspectedTre adjusted his schedule so he could do it the next day as this was holding up my closingHighly recommend!!
Person who inspected the condo I am purchasing was very polite and professionalAfter the inspection he reviewed with me the areas that needed immediate attentionLater that day I received a full printout of the report that was easy to understand
Alan was on time, thorough and knowledgeableWe also had the termite and radon inspectionsThanks to his findings, we were able to negotiate with the sellers to have several repairs done
Had Procheck inspect home in late JanuaryInspector was pleasant and did a reasonably good job except that he completely missed a number of windows with defective glass seals and rotted out window sillsIn process of repair/replacing glass and sills we have already incurred over $2,with cost likely to exceed that when finally completeProcheck offered to return my inspection fee ($if I sign non disclosure agreement)Asked about claim via E & O Insurance......but no response from Procheck$is nowhere near adequate compensation for this inspection failureAt this juncture I cannot recommend Procheck
