I am rejecting this response because: it does not resolve or address any of the vehicles damages

Prodigy Car Audio stands by our original statementAll modifications we did to the car are quality work and are up to industry standards

Company states: We informed the consumer that the SH&H is charged only after 30 days. Manufacturers will not cover customer damages to sub woofers but since I have a good relations with them, they are able to honor a replacement but the consumer has to pay the SH&H of $25.00. This is a...

are steps involved that include cutting the carpet. If you get your car lowered or lifted, you expect them to adjust the suspension, if you replace or add things to your stereo system, people usually expect customization as well. Customer did not like how the speakers looked, I offered to replace them for different ones. Customer in turn tried to blackmail me and wanted a whole new expensive system put into his car for free. I even offered to order the customer an amp at my cost and he refused. I tried to help him and fix the problems but he refused to work with me unless I paid for a brand new system for him that cost way more than what he originally came in here to do. The customer never paid for an antenna for his Corvette. On a side note, the desired settlement was cut off and I was not able to fully read it.

Review: I came to this business to get my stereo installed. They charged me three hundred and forty nine dollars. After I had my stereo installed I was having many issues with my car battery. I brought it back to their store to see if they could find the solution to the problem. According to them it was my battery so I went to go purchase a new battery for about two hundred dollars. Then the same issue occurred again to where my car battery would go completely flat leaving me stranded where ever I was. Once again I brought it back to them and they said it was something wrong with my car and had nothing to do with my stereo or the installation. I drive a vw jetta so I took my car in for a diagnostic to see what the issue was. I paid one hundred and sixty-five dollars for them to tell me that the radio was the cause of my battery dying that it was not properly installed. Then I brought it back to the store with proof that it was their stereo did they finally decide to look at it and diagnosed it was the radio and replaced it with a new one. The problem occurred again so now I have to pay two hundred and twenty dollars to get it fixed. The neglected to check their work, they would not help me pay for any of the losses and damages to my car, it was extremely unprofessional and wrong.

Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Refund

My desired settlement would be my full refund of three hundred forty nine dollars, my battery cost of about two hundred dollars, the diagnostic refunded to me of one hundred and sixty five dollars and the fee of two hundred twenty dollars to get it properly installed. My desired settlement then would be nine hundred and thirty-four dollars.

Initial Business Response

[redacted] brought his car into us. He had just purchased the vehicle. The vehicle did not currently have a stereo and had a salvaged title. We installed a stereo and his own personal amplifier into the car. [redacted] returned a week later saying that the battery was dying on him. I took a look at his car, noticed there were check engine lights on in his car and plugged in my diagnostic machine in it which said that the car had a short wiring problem with the engine and suggested for him to have a mechanic take a look at it. According to my diagnostic machine, it had nothing to do with the install. He came back a few days later, just said that he got the problem fixed but there was something still draining the battery. I took the stereo out, looked at the stereo and it was wired correctly, and the amp was wired correctly as well. [redacted] then took the car to a mechanic who said that the problem was the stereo. I knew the stereo was not the problem, and to show [redacted] I replaced the stereo with a different one. I noticed his battery was charged at 60% and told him to charge the battery for a whole day. He came back 1 week later and said the car was still doing the same thing at that he bought a new battery and was still having the issues. According to my diagnostic machine, the problem was a short wiring problem in the engine. The car did not have a stereo from the time he bought it, probably because there was electrical problems with the car. The mechanic supposedly told him that he had a faulty stereo, we replaced it and the car still had the same problems. [redacted] bought a brand new battery, something that I didn't not advise him to do. The car has electrical issues, but we did a perfect installation and put 2 different stereos in his car.

Final Consumer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

They said german engineered cars are completely different type of car there fore it is more difficult to install stereos into thus saying it confusing and something there are not accustomed to working with. I also never said the car was salvaged I have the title of the car which I can make a copy of and show you and the original price of the stereo is not even $80 Prodigy audio sold me the stereo for $120 and the mechanics at VW say their are no problems with the electrical besides the wiring and installation of the after market stereo I received which, I also have written proof of. The mechanics are even willing to testify to that and are willing to help me in resolving the problem. If their was nothing wrong with the stereo why did the installers give me a new radio and had said that the deck was faulty. I am willing to negotiate the refund but $80 dollars is barely one fourth of what I paid. Not including the cost I spent from the dealership to test all the electrical things of my car which finally lead to the faulty installation of prodigy audio. I have been running my car just fine without the stereo and have had no electrical issues or engine issues so its obvious prodigy audios installation was the problem and the VW dealership along with myself have proof of this.

Final Business Response

[redacted] had told us his car was salvaged. We did not say VWs were confusing cars therefore we were having issues, we said that electrical issues were common in them. The reason the car did not have a stereo to begin with is probably because the car had electrical issues. The stereo was installed correctly and it was not a defective stereo. I am still willing to refund [redacted] the $80 for the actual stereo.

Review: I have a 2014 Silverado which I brought to Prodigy Car Audio to upgrade my audio system. I was told, the speakers that I was sold and the amplifier that I had brought in would work great. When I asked him about the amplifier I brought in, he gave me the thumbs up.Upon arriving to check on my trucks progress, I found his employees had cut into my truckscarpet and insulation in the rear behind the back seat to install the amplifier without consultingme. (See Estimate for Repair)I also found the trucks original speakers sitting on their faces on the shops cement floor. There are 6 speakers total that were removed from the truck and of those, only 2were not damaged or ripped. The other 4 were damaged completely. The truck is only 1 months old and the speakers were new and I was going to put them intomy other truck. Upon further inspection I noticed that the speaker grills were pushedout, bent, and dis-colored due to the installation of speakers that were too big. The grills are part of the door panels and cant be ordered separately they are all in one. Which are listed in the Estimate for Repair. I should have been called and told this, so that we could have made a change and put the correctSpeakers in, instead of forcing them in and bending the grills. Upon returning home in the truck a humming noise was audible coming from the speakers. The HD Channels no longer worked. The vehicles door ajar bell was now amplified through the trucksspeaker system. None of these changes were explained prior to installation. I was told that the speakers and amplifier were supposed to sound better than the original stock stereo and speakers but in turn, it sounded terribly worse. My other vehicle is a 2002 Corvette and I had a stereo installed in it and a black antenna was purchased and suppose be installed by Prodigy Car Audio which I paid for but never received.Labor and material for the trucks damages = $3,600.00Prodigy Car Audio Stereo Installation = $ 700.00 (not including the $300.00 I paid for the installation of my stereo and antenna in the 2002 Corvette).Total = $4,300.00Desired Settlement: I spoke to the owner Tuesday, September 6th, 2014 and asked him if he believed in quality and pride in his work. He stated, Yes, of course. I told him I was not happy with the installation of the speakers and amplifier. I told him to come out to the truck and to take a look. I turned on the stereo for him so he could listen. He agreed that it sounded terrible as well. Then I told him about the humming noise, no longer having any HD channels and showed him the damage done to my vehicle. I told him that this was a $40K truck not a $2,500.00 piece of junk. I told him that I didnt get my antenna. He told me that his guy couldnt find one, but he still charged me for this. He said he would take care of me and give me new speakers that were called Rockford Fosgates and fix the damages. He said to bring in my truck the next day. I arrived the next day to talk with him and show him the estimates that I had for the damages on the vehicle. He then in turn showed me some speakers t

Review: I went to the prodigy shop 2 times this year the first time my friend and I bought subs and speakers for 300 dollars more than the normal price literally anywhere else it would have been cheaper they ordered them from their supplier and 1 sub didn't work the whole time we were busy so we figured we would wait a while to return it then we go to return it with my receipt and 2 year warranty and they wanted to blame the speaker not working on me which meant I had to pay 25 dollars for a replacement on something that never worked when I got it so when giving them the sub to replace it I didn't agree to their terms my mom came in and said yes but didn't pay for it in the first place so she cant and the guy accepted her saying yes to paying the 25 even though I shook my head no and now I am stuck paying 25 dollars for shipping for a new sub and all this happened because they pretended like we should have turned it in the first day it didn't work which is not part of the warranty I read all of itDesired Settlement: I do not wish to pay 25 dollars shipping for something they get shipped from los Angeles or closer to Manteca considering they gave me a broken one in the first place
