On 8/8/my doorbell rings, and rings, I was not expecting visitors therefore I did not respondI looked out and there was a man, with a folder/clipboard, or such, standing at my doorI 'assumed' they had the wrong residence A few minutes later my phone rings, saying it was 'Jay from Craftsmen Home Imp, and was in my front yard for my 7:p.mappointment for my patio door estimate, and if I wanted to reschedule to call the officeI DID NOT REQUEST THIS APPOINTMENT OR CALL!!, for this visit, estimate, never ever heard of this company and in no need of a patio door I called the police to see if they had problems with this happening in my area because this really concerned me how they had my address, phone, number, etcand they had had problems with a home improvement company (they did not mention the name) that had been knocking on doors without a permit I called their office a couple days later to see who initiated this action..all I got was one lie after another, said my daughter in law, or son, has called, neither live with me, and my daughter in law has been deceased for over years They never could give me a legitimate answer on how they got my name, number, or address Mind you, this is a company STATING they had an appointment with me!!! This is majorly deceptive I asked how they knew I had a patio door without trespassing on my property...no clear answer there either, said they probably saw it in while 'canvassing' my neighborhood, which is not true, as my patio door is in the back of my house While I appreciate, and respect, companies needing sales, and sales leads, I find this highly unethical, lying for a sales lead, and 'spooking' a potential customer This would be the very last company I would ever contact for a home repair, or improvement If they are deceptive in obtaining sales, how are they going to conduct business afterwards? I am extremely upset at the way this was handled...did they 'really' think I was going to believe I had called for an appointment when I knew I had not? I don't understand how, or who, that would work for I left the conversation by advising them to never contact me, or come near my residence again, or I would call the police on them...and I stand by that Crazy way to conduct business, in my opinion Who is going to be convinced they made an 'imaginary' appointment...cannot believe they were knocking on my door for 'my' appointment NOT COOL!! Sketchy at best

After agreeing to allow company to quote on a repair to my home They solicited me
Appointment was not kept When finally contacted me regarding the problem, I was
told that many attempts were made to contact me by phone to reschedule This is not
true since my phone records all incoming calls whether a message is left or not Do their
untruths, and unfounded reasons I would not use or recommend them

Description Of Work:

In Sept 2014 we contracted with Craftsmen Home Improvements to install new upper & lower cabinets, quartz countertops, and a new sink in our 1990-ish kitchen. (We bought the house in 2012.) We planned to have them installed after the first of the year (for IRA/tax purposes). Our salesperson/[redacted] helped us design the layout and helped us select cabinet style/color and countertop. He also kept us apprised of the delivery status of materials throughout the process. [We did all of the demolition of the old kitchen cabinets/Corean countertops and prep work (replacing the insulation on exterior walls, rewiring the electric, tearing out soffit, and replacing drywall), prior to the cabinet delivery.] We met with the cabinet installer in our home in mid-December for a pre-construction meeting to iron out any details/questions. [redacted] kept in touch with us during the entire installation process and was very helpful in resolving some minor issues with the cabinets themselves. We paid them yesterday and are VERY pleased with our new kitchen.

Member Comments:

We completed our demo & prep work on Jan 15and had previously arranged with [redacted] to have the cabinets delivered on Jan 19 The installers (a subcontractor named VIAGROUP) arrived with the cabinets bright & early on the 19th (a Monday) and were done that Friday (the 23rd). VIAGROUP (a father & son team of professional handymen) out of Camden, OH did an absolutely fantastic job. They were both extremely professional, punctual, highly organized, and very meticulous. On top of that, they were very personable, considerate, and eager to answer any questions we had as the work progressed.

We had one minor problem after the cabinet work was completed and we tried to move our refrigerator into the space allotted for it. Our fridge was slightly bowed out on the sides and exceeded the tolerances allowed for it by about 3/8 inch. We notified [redacted] right away and, within a day or two, VIAGROUP came back and reconfigured the corner cabinet spacers to provide enough room for the fridge. Fits great now!

We also had dents and dings and chipped paint in some of the cabinet doors (a factory issue; not Craftsmen or VIAGROUP). We notified [redacted] and he contacted the cabinet maker who sent out a factory rep right away. The factory rep agreed to have the doors repaired/refinished as needed. Within a few days, a Professional Furniture Service (Amelia, OH) technician came to examine the cabinets. He made minor repairs to several of the cabinets on-site, but had to take some of the doors back to the shop to properly redo the paint job. He brought the doors back, after about two weeks, on Feb 27 and reinstalled them. They look great!

Throughout these very minor "setbacks", [redacted] was very responsive and kept us informed every step of the way. We love our new cabinets!

We love our new quartz countertops as well! Craftsmen's subcontractor/[redacted] delivered and installed about 30 feet of countertops (along with our new sink) within a couple of hours. They fit perfectly against the walls and the corner seams are virtually invisible.

Craftsmen Home Improvements is aptly named. They and their subcontractors are true craftsmen and experts in their respective fields. And [redacted] was highly professional, personable, and very responsive to any of our questions or concerns. He oversaw the entire project to a very successful conclusion. My wife & I would definitely Craftsmen Home Improvements for any home improvement project.
