To start off with, the customer purchased a motor from a junk yardEveryone should know when purchasing a part of any type from a junk yard they are taking a gamble Her engine that she purchased was indeed bad and the salvage yard refunded her money for that engine That warranty has nothing to do with usMost salvage yards supply a short warranty (usually days) on the part only If we supply a part then we provide a warranty on labor but we are not going to do labor for free do to someone buying a bad part from a junk yardThat had nothing to do with us and we will not take the cut for it.Next, what she has failed to mention, I did tell her that if she decided to install a second motor that I would help her out on the second labor charge by discounting it That was not even something that I had to do, I strictly did that out of kindness to help her in her unfortunate situation She did not tell me that she wanted to save the old motor and it has been months At this point we weren't even sure if she would ever even settle up and get her vehicle or if she had abandoned it because she did not pay the original bill when she was suppose toInstead she stuck us with itThe original work was done at the end of OctoberShe did not come back until the end of January, she then made a partial payment on the bill She did not return to pay remainder when she was suppose to We called her from time to time to check in We finally got in touch with her in May She came on May 28th and gave me a post dated check that she asked me to hold until June 2nd SO technically the bill still is not clear until then We are a small facility and do not have space to save junk forever Once we have too much scrap pile up we have to have it disposed of If someone wants their old parts they are more that welcome to get them in a timely manner, not months later We do not even benefit by disposing of these parts It costs me almost as much in labor and expenses to load them and haul them away as I will get for a trailer load An engine only brings about $at scrap yard! It would not be wise to reinstall the original engine anyways even if it was running at the time it will eventually quit due to the damage from running hot If it went out a few weeks later then she'd be out even more money and in the same boatI understand that she is upset due to her unfortunate luck with the engine and that it caused a financial strain, however, as I stated before, we were not at fault beings it was a junk yard motor that was bad yet we also took a financial strain from it due to her not paying her bill I had to pay my mechanic and parts the week that the job was done even though I did not receive paymentI have also ignored other policies in order to prevent putting more strain on the customer Usually there would have been a daily storage charge of $after a vehicle is left too many days That would have been significant over months I also did not follow our day policy in which I send out a letter on abandoned vehicles to the owner and lien holder and provide a day warningIf the vehicle is not paid within days our company would have legal rights to sell the vehicle for parts and labor Instead, I ignored these rules and stored the vehicle for months in order to give the customer time to during her time of downfall I feel I have took the shaft so to speak and been very patient with her

To start off with, the customer purchased a motor from a junk yard. Everyone should know when purchasing a part of any type from a junk yard they are taking a gamble.  Her engine that she purchased was indeed bad and the salvage yard refunded her money for that engine.  That warranty has...

nothing to do with us. Most salvage yards supply a short warranty (usually 30 days) on the part only.  If we supply a part then we provide a warranty on labor but we are not going to do labor for free do to someone buying a bad part from a junk yard. That had nothing to do with us and we will not take the cut for it.Next, what she has failed to mention, I did tell her that if she decided to install a second motor that I would help her out on the second labor charge by discounting it.  That was not even something that I had to do, I strictly did that out of kindness to help her in her unfortunate situation.  She did not tell me that she wanted to save the old motor and it has been 7 months.  At this point we weren't even sure if she would ever even settle up and get her vehicle or if she had abandoned it because she did not pay the original bill when she was suppose to. Instead she stuck us with it. The original work was done at the end of October. She did not come back until the end of January, she then made a partial payment on the bill.  She did not return to pay remainder when she was suppose to.  We called her from time to time to check in.  We finally got in touch with her in May.  She came on May 28th and gave me a post dated check that she asked me to hold until June 2nd.  SO technically the bill still is not clear until then.  We are a small facility and do not have space to save junk forever.  Once we have too much scrap pile up we have to have it disposed of.  If someone wants their old parts they are more that welcome to get them in a timely manner, not 7 months later.  We do not even benefit by disposing of these parts.  It costs me almost as much in labor and expenses to load them and haul them away as I will get for a trailer load.  An engine only brings about $15 at scrap yard!  It would not be wise to reinstall the original engine anyways even if it was running at the time it will eventually quit due to the damage from running hot.  If it went out a few weeks later then she'd be out even more money and in the same boat. I understand that she is upset due to her unfortunate luck with the engine and that it caused a financial strain, however, as I stated before, we were not at fault beings it was a junk yard motor that was bad yet we also took a financial strain from it due to her not paying her bill.  I had to pay my mechanic and parts the week that the job was done even though I did not receive payment. I have also ignored other policies in order to prevent putting more strain on the customer.  Usually there would have been a daily storage charge of $15 after a vehicle is left too many days.  That would have been significant over 7 months.  I also did not follow our 30 day policy in which I send out a letter on abandoned vehicles to the owner and lien holder and provide a 30 day warning. If the vehicle is not paid within 30 days our company would have legal rights to sell the vehicle for parts and labor.  Instead, I ignored these rules and stored the vehicle for 7 months in order to give the customer time to during her time of downfall.  I feel I have took the shaft so to speak and been very patient with her.
