Extremely professional, and a job well done. Quality work, for a good price. [redacted] kept me up to date along every step of the way, everything was cleaned up and well taken care of.

Review: I want to report Mr. Larry Bivens, [redacted], Pulaski, Va 243O1 for job not satisfactorily completed. On 8-20-2013 Mr. Bivens gave us an estimate for work on our home at [redacted] Radford, Va. consisting of.

Metal roof installed

construct 16" overhang around roof

Install new soffit on new overhang

Install trim to match [ridge caps, outside corners, drip edge, ice stops]

lnstall new boots on vent pipes and seal

General clean up

Copy of estimate included.

This work was done appearance wise and paid in full on 11-05-2013 to our knowledge it would not leak as soon as we had a few rains.

By January our closet in one bedroom was full of black mold ceiling, walls, along with several items in the closet.

We contacted Mr. Bivens in January he just kept putting off doing anything about it saying he would look to see what the problem was. He came and "looked" at it and then we hear no more from him. Many more calls no response. On 3-19-2014 I called Mrs. Bivens at her job to ask her if she could get him to fix our roof and by this time we have black slime running down the outside siding and the soffit is all nasty as well from whatever the problem with the roof not being installed properly. [I had just paid to have the siding cleaned when the roof was installed. After calling her he came by that afternoon and " just looked again and promised first nice day he would come put new underlayment under the metal".

Around the last of March {don't remember exactly when} his main worker came and installed attic vents {wall type} to replace original ridge vents that were removed. Then it was beautiful sunny days March-31, April-l,2 ,3,4,5 and 6th sunny and around 70 all those days and he never came by or even called. I called him again. He finally comes around the 9th of April and replaced the underlayment under metal.

At this time he was told again we needed the closet torn out replaced and painted {due to black mold}. Also the outside siding and soffits cleaned from the black slime that was running down them due to the problem with roof. Also he still needed 6 (six) ice stops that he keeps saying they are having trouble getting that color from factory. After fixing the roof we are now short 9 (nine) ice stops. Don't know

what they did with the other 3 (three) that were installed on there. Also {at time of original install} we told them we wanted enough of the extra metal left for [us] to install on our new basement entrance so would match roof and they agreed to leave enough for this. When leaving They proceeded to cut the big strips of metal up and hauled all off. He still has not replaced / furnished our metal for the basement entrance and we have asked many times for it.

After many more calls to him of which he won't answer his phone, so we leave voice mail he won't return the call. He finally comes abt. 29th of March and replaces the boards in closet. I called his wife May 30 2014 again at her job to please make sure he got the message that I left that morning at 6:30 AM. That I was going to turn this in to Revdex.com if we didn't get this work completed.. She said I will not

discuss this on my job call me this PM at home in which I called at 7:15 PM no answer, left message still no return call. He sends one of his men to paint the closet May 31 2014. There was / is no way to know the roof was / is going to leak until a few rains { "appears" to be ok now }.Desired Settlement: To resolve this we still need:

(1) Metal only for basement entrance. {He is not responsible to install this}.

(2) 9 ice stops and installed.

metal for entrance and ice stops {in Hawaiian blue} matching roof.

(3) Clean the soffits and siding. Front and back.

Mr. Bivens has promised to do all this from when problems noticed , but it's 4 (four) months from work start and full payment made and needs to be completed.

Response:

In response to the complaint from customer, to begin with the mold in closet was nothing more than a small water spot that had ran off of the heavy plastic that was covered with black dust from the attic. No where else in the house did this happen. There is a stave pipe that runs through the attic and through the roof. This pipe sweats when in use, I am not responsible for this occurance. As for the roof leaking, I found no sign of leakage when checked at two different times. I then found that the underlayment that I put down was not being used by the metal company anymore and they switched to a better brand which I purchased and changed for the customer. The metal panels for the basement door is another thing that I knew nothing about until asked when I was there and I said I would ask at the metal company if they had any extra pieces that weren't picked up for use. The extra panels that were left were actually used to roof the customer's garage by an employee and he cleaned up, I had nothing to do with the garage work. As for the mentioned "slime" that runs down the soffit, all I could see was maybe a few dust streaks from the dusty attic. This will be taken care of shortly. The metal company said their supplier was having a problem with the blue paint that was used for painting the metal, and would get them as soon as problem fixed. I now have them and will get them installed asap. I have already torn our the entire closet (although only one water spot) and replaced and painted it. As far as calling my wife at work, she has nothing to do with the working part of my business and told the customer that and not to call her at work. Another thing, I replaced several pieces of siding that were already cracked from age at my own cost. Everything will be completed within thirty days from today.

Thank you

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Mr Bevins sent one of his employees Tuesday July 1, 2O14 to Power wash the slime off the house and install the 9 ice stops; which has been completed. But he still has not brought the Hawaiian blue metal for our basement door as he promised he would do. We do not expect him to install only bring back what was cut up and hauled away to sell.

We want this metal for the door and then the job will be satisfactory providing no future leaks.

Regards,

Business

Response:

Although this is not in my agreement, the metal is being made and will be delivered when processed. This will end my dealings with this family who wants everything for nothing.

Review: Still having leaks after new metal roof installed, including damage to one of the ceilings. Part of bathroom floor had to be replaced due to leaking pipes in bathroom. No access to bathroom plumbing. No flashing around chimneys or drip edge.Desired Settlement: I would like to be reimbursed for money spent repairing all the damage that has been done, as well as what still is in need of repair.

Business

Response:

This work was done app. 9 years ago and have been back several times in the past to repair some problems around built in chimney which constructed of rock. It was properly sealed at the time. Over the years there have been numerous people working on this house. A new kitchen was build next to the bath and this blocked the pipe access and this kitchen roof was also attached to the bath roof causing water to leak inside. I changed the kitchen roof to stop the water at the time. These other folks created a valley that held water. I also replaced an entire ceiling. All this was done at no charge. I have no idea of how many other people have worked on this house over the years. I have contacted my attorney about this matter.
