Better Homes was contracted by Mr*** to install a roof. Mr*** provided the shingles and stated he had sheets of 7/OSB if needed to be installed. Upon removal of shingles we determined the decking was 3/of an inch thick so Better Homes purchased and provided nine (9) sheets
of 3/inch OSB and also had to shore up several roof raters that had rotting to make for a sound deck for the new roof. It is now and has always been Better Homes' policy to provide the first sheet of OSB free and charge $per sheet thereafter. All of which is noted on the quote Mr*** signed. Better Homes provided nails, ice and water shield, and cap shingles for the installation of the roof. The installation of the roof was done as required per building codes. Please find attached a copy of the quote and also the contract, both of which are signed by Mr***. The only additional charges over and above the original quote was for the eight (8) sheets of OSB at $per sheet as stated on the quote and repairs to the rafters. The additional charges were in the amount of $for eight sheets OSB and $for the rafter repairs. The only item not listed on the original estimate is the repairs for the rafters. As of today Better Homes has not been paid for any of the work, we do work in good faith, requiring no down payment prior to the work being completed
In regard to ice and water shield, per State of Ohio building codes, ice and water shield is required and was installed prior to applying the shingles. Our Field Supervisor stated there was no conversation regarding the installation of drip edge nor is it listed on the Estimate of Repairs provided to the customer. We charge extra to install drip edge so it would have been in our best interest to provide this service had the customer made the request. Mr. [redacted] met with the Field Supervisor after the work was completed and he appeared to be happy with our work. Upon request for the payment he had forgotten his checkbook so arrangements were made to meet in several days to collect payment. The second meeting did not happen, he text us to say he could not meet with us due to unforeseen circumstances. That was the last correspondence from him. When attempting to call Mr. [redacted] we receive the message “not accepting messages at this time.” The last message our Field Supervisor text was another attempt to resolve the issue. He stated that our Operations Manager had review the Revdex.com complaint and asks if the drip edge issue was the reason for withholding payment. He apologized for the confusion and stated it was not his intention to mislead or confuse on what work was to be done. Again he asks for Mr. [redacted] to call him so it could be resolved. We have made numerous attempts to meet with the customer and resolve the issue so payment can be made. As of this date we have received “0” payment.
