PROFESSIONAL TRANSMISSION: ORIGINAL TRANSMISSION, IN MY1999. ***, NEEDED REPLACING. VEHICLE HAD 128.000 MILES ON IT. I TALKED TO MY MECHANIC, ***, HE OWNS ***'S *** ON WHITESBORO STREET, UTICA NY, I TOOK VEHICLE TO ***, JUST AS I SAID THERE WAS NO REVERSE. HE CALLED PROFESSIONAL TRANSMISSION AND SPOKE TO JOE GI, TELLING HIM, THAT, HE HAD A CUSTOMER HE WAS SENDING OUT THERE TO HAVE HIS TRANSMISSION CHECKED, BECAUSE THERE IS NO REVERSE. 7/31/2014, there were 128,000, had problems with original transmission I DROVE VEHICLE OUT TO PROFESSIONAL, AND JOE GI TEST DROVE IT, AND SAID IT WOULD NEED TO NEW TRANSMISSION, HE SAID TRANSMISSIONS GOTTA BE REPLACED. SO I ASKED HIM FOR A PRICE HE QUOTED ME, $1850.00 PLUS TAX, THE TOTAL WOULD BE $ 1973.00., HE SAID THIS IS A REBUILT ONE. SO MY IMPRESSION OF A TRANSMISSION REBUILT IS, THEY TAKE YOUR TRANSMISSION OUT OF YOUR VEHICLE AND REBUILD IT. HE SAID NO USUALLY WE HAVE ONE ALREADY REBUILT IN STOCK. SO I SAID YOU MEAN IM GETTING SOMEONE ELSE'S TRANSMISSION? HE SAID YES, AND I ASKED WHAT IF THERE ARE PROBLEMS WITH THE ONE YOU PUT IN. HE TOLD ME YOU HAVE 2000 MILE WARRANTY, OR TWO YEARS WHICH EVER COMES FIRST. SO I DROPPED IT OFF NEXT DAY, AND HE CALLED ME A WEEK LATER, AND SAID YOUR VEHICLE IS READY. I SAID SO HOW DOES IT DRIVE. HE SAYS DRIVES LIKE BRAND NEW, VEHICLE. SO I DROVE IT WORKED GREAT, I WAS SO HAPPY. THEN AFTER DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 1,888 MILES TRANSMISSION STARTED SKIPPING. I CONTACTED *** SO WITH *** AND TOLD HIM WHAT WAS GOING ON. HE TOLD ME TO DRIVE VEHICLE TO HIS GARAGE, AND LET HIM TEST DRIVE IT. SO I DID. HE SAID"THERE IS SOMETHING DEFINITELY NOT RIGHT WITH THIS TRANSMISSION. HE FIRST CHECKED THE FLUIDS TRANSMISSION OIL VERY PINK, AND AT THE LEVEL IT SHOULD BE, THEN HE TOOK IT FOR RIDE. WHEN HE CAME BACK, HE TOLD ME ITS SLIPPING OR SKIPPING. I SAID I TOLD YOU. HE GOT ON PHONE WIT JOE GI TELLING HIM WHAT WAS HAPPENING WITH VEHICLE. JOE TOLD HIM TO HAVE *** DRIVE IT OVER HERE NOW, SO HE COULD TEST DRIVE IT. I DROVE IT OVER THERE, JOE TOOK IT FOR A RIDE AND SAID TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING. I SAID WHAT, I SAID YOU JUST PUT THIS TRANSMISSION IN. I HAVEN'T EVEN DRIVEN THIS VEHICLE 2000 MILES. 1888 TO BE EXACT. HE SAID WELL THERE IS PROBLEM WITH THIS TRANNY GOT TO BE REPLACED. I WAS VERY UPSET, ALL THIS MONEY I JUST PAID, AND NOW I NEED TO PUT ANOTHER ONE IN. I SAID WELL YOU GOTTA MAKE IT RIGHT, WITH NO COST TO ME. HE SAID BECAUSE IT WAS PAST WARRANTY, I SAID BUT ITS UNDER THE MILES, HE SAID I WILL PUT ANOTHER ONE IN FOR $800.00 WILL NOT CHARGE YOU LABOR. SO I AGREED TO HAVE ANOTHER ONE PUT IN THIS IS SECOND ONE PAID HIM $800.00 DOLLARS. I TOLD ***, HE TOOK IT FOR TEST DRIVE AND SAID "ITS NOT SHIFTING RIGHT" THIS HE SAID THIS IS REDICULOUS. ON 4/26/17, 140,646 MILES, THIS TRANSMISSION STOPPED WORKING CORRECTLY, NOW I AM INFURIATED. AGAIN *** CALLS JOE, AND JOE SAYS I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY,THEN HE WAS ASKING *** ALL TYPES OF QUESTIONS LIKE DOES HE HOT ROD IT, OR ABUSE IT? *** SAID NO HE DOES NOT. HE TAKES CARE OF HIS VEHICLE, AND BESIDES JOE, ALL FLUIDS WHERE THERE SUPPOSE TO BE,FLUIDS VERY PINK. BROUGHT IT BACK TO JOE, HE DROVE IT AND SAID" I CAN'T DO ANYTHING TODAY, BUT DROP IT OFF ON MONDAY. SO I DID. I BROUGHT IT BACK OUT THERE, HE CHECKED IT SAID, THEY DID SOME WORK ON IT, YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE ANY MORE PROBLEMS. I SAID" ARE YOU SURE, BECAUSE I AM SICK OF THIS NONSENSE. SO I DROVE IT FOR AWHILE IT DROVE GREAT, THEN IN DECEMBER 2019, IT STARTED ACTING UP AGAIN, WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR, WOULD NOT MOVE, HAD ME STRANDED FOR BOUT 20-25 MINUTES WHERE I HAD TO PUSH IT JUST TO GET IT OUT OF THE ROAD. I TURNED ENGINE OFF. THEN I LET IT COOL DOWN KNOWING THE TRANSMISSION AGAIN. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT HOME AND PARK IT. SO MENTALLY ANGUISHED I CALLED *** AGAIN. HE SAID I'LL CALL JOE, I SAID IM REALLY SICK OF THIS *** I REALLY AM. AGAIN JOE TOLD ME TO BRING IT BACK WHICH I DID. JOE SAID HE WENT INTO TRANSMISSION BY PASSING SOMETHING SO I COULD AT LEAST DRIVE IT, I SAID YOU ARE PUTTING A BAND AID WHERE YOU NEED STITCHES. WHEN I DROVE IT, IN THE LOWER RPM, OF FIRST SECOND GEAR IT BUCKED AND SHIFTED VERY HARD. THE NEXT DAY I BROUGHT BACK TO *** HE DROVE IT GETTING SAME RESULTS I GOT IN THE LOWER RPMS, I SAID YOU NEED CALL THIS GUY AND GET MY TRUCKED DRIVING CORRECTLY. JOE SAID HE DID SOMETHING BY PASSING PART IN TRANSMISSION, AND I COULD DRIVE, I TOLD HIM I WANT THIS DAM PROBLEM FIXED. SO I WA DRIVING ON ARTERIAL, SAW WHERE OVER DRIVE LIGHT CAME ON STARTED FLASHING. I GOT TO WHERE I NEEDED TO GO, THIS TIMEI CALLED JOE AND I SAID" IM PISSED IM SICK OF THIS *** ALL THE MONIES I HAVE PUT IN THIS DAM TRANSMISSION, AND ITS STILL NOT RIGHT. THUS FAR JOE SAYS I HAVE TRIED MANY TINGS, BUT UIT DOES NOT SHIFT OR DRIVE CORRECTLY. I SAID "WELL YOU NEED TO GET IT RUNJNG THE WAY IT SHOULD. IM LOSING IT WITH THIS GUY, GETTING ANGRIER ALL THE TIME. I HAVE BEEN PATIENT, CONGENIAL, DIPLOMATIC AND I AMSO FREAKING FRUSTRATED AND ANGERED OVER THIS. FEB 5 2020 I CONTACT JOE I SAID I PAID YOU GUYS TO GET MY TRUCK RUNNING AND RUNNING AS IT SHOULD, AND IM STILL HAVING PROBLEMS. HE SAID *** I KNOW YOU ARE UPSET,I SAID YOUR DAM RIGHT I AM. HE SAID GIVE ME LITTLE MORE TIME, I HAVE BEEN ON THE COMPUTER, I HAVE ORDERED A PART, NO CHARGE TO YOU. WELL HE TELLS ME THEY SENT HIM WRONG PART. AS OF FEBRURY 6, 2020 MY TRUCK IS STILL DOWN THERE LOOKS LIKE THEY DID NOTHING TO IT. I CALLED HIM 5 PM THIS IS WHAT HE SAID. WELL *** I HAVE TRIED TO DO SEVERAL THINGS, AND ITS STILL NOT WORKING CORRECTLY. I HAD IT DRIVING THE WAY IT SHOULD,THEN IT STARTED SHIFTING HARD AGAIN, I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT HE IS SAYING WHEN, HE TELLS ME THE FOLLOWING. MUST REBUILT UP, TRANNY HAS WEAK SPOT, BY PASSING REROUTED CIRCUIT, FEEDS TO VALVE BODY, COULD NOT GET IT TO WORK RIGHT.HE SAISD SOMETHING ABOUT A CROSS LEAK, I SAID I HAVE NIO IDEA WHAT YOU ARE TALIKNG ABOUT. HE SAID ONE OF HIS TECHS ON THE COMPUTER RIGHT NOW, TRYING TO LOCATE THE PART. 2/7/20 JOE SAID I'LL CALL YO. U TOMORROW. HE SAID HE IS TRYING TO RECTFY WITH OUT BUYING NEW TRANSMISSION. FEBRUARY 11. I CALLED JOE, AND SAID YOUY HAVE HAD MY TRUCK THERE FOR ABOUT A MONTH, I DO NOT EVEN HAVE VEHICLE TO DRIVE, WHAT HECKS, GOIN ON? HE TOLD ME HOW IT WAS CHEAPER TO BUY ANOTHER USED TRANSMISSION, INSTEAD OF CONTINUOUSLY WORKING ON THIS ONE. THE COST $750.00.HE SAID I WOULD HAVE TO BUY IT, AND HE WOULD PUT IT IN. I SAID THERE'S NO WAY. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR ANYTHING, THIS IS THE SECOND ONE YOU HAVE PUT IN, AND NOW YOU ARE TELLING A THIRD ONE I NEED TO BUY. HE SAID WELL THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE CRANK OR SHAFT INTERNALLY. I SAID WHATS THAT GOT TO DO WITH ME. THE LAST ONE I BROUGHT I HAD TO PAY YOU $800.00, NOW YOU ARE TRYING TO TELL ME, I HAVE TO PAY $750.00 FOR ANOTHER ONE? I SAID LISTEN THE ONLY REASON I EVEN BROUGHT MY TRUCK TO YOU IS *** RECOMMENDED YOU. I DID NOT KNOW YOU. I SAID THIS IS VERY POOR BUSINESS. I TOLD YOU HOW MUCH I PAID FOR THIS TRANSMISSION, AND HE SAID THERE HAD TO BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH IT, I SAID I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY YOU AGAIN TO MAKE THIS RIGHT. I TOLD EVEN MY MECHANIC, AND EVERYONE ELSE I HAVE SPOKEN TO, SAID SAME THING. E SAID HE WAS WITH CUSTOMERS, ANDI SAID" WHO AM I NOBODY"? HE SAID HE WOULD CALL ME BACK. ITS NOW 145 PM, I STILL HAVE NOT HEARD FROM HIM. THE LAST THING HE SAID TO ME IS MY MECHANICS DO NOT WORK FOR FREE, AND HE WOULD NEED TO TALK TO HIS PARTNER. HE ALSO SAID HE WAS GOING TO CALL *** TO SEE WHAT HE WOULD DO. I SAID I'LL TELL YOU WHAT *** WOULD DO HE WOULD MAKE IT RIGHT, NO CHARGE TO ME. 2/13/20 10AM I CALLED PROFESSIONAL TRANSMISSION, TALKED TO JOE, HE SAID HE CALLED ***, AND *** NEVER CALLED HIM BACK. JOE TOLD ME I BUY TRANSMISSION HE WOULD PUT IT IN. LABOR COST MONEY, AND I SAID I HAVE ALREADY SPENT WITH YOU,$2772.00 AND MY TRUCK STILL IS NOT RIGHT, NOW YOU WANT ME SPEND ANOTHER $750.00 TOTAL OF $3,522,00. HE SAID WELL I DID EVERYTHING I COULD WITH THIS TRANSMISSION IT HAS AN INTERNAL LEAK. ALL THIS MONEY IN 3 YEARS ON TRANSMISSIONS, AND THIS WILL BE THIRD ONE. NOW I COULD SEE I WAS NOT GETTING ANYWHERE WITH THIS GUY. SO I SAID LETS LOOK WIN/WIN, YOU PAY HALF, AND I WILL PAY HALF./ HE SAID NO, IM NOT PAYING ANYTHING. HE SAID YOU BUY IT, ILL PUT IT IN. HE TOLD ME I COULD PICK UP *** AND DRIVE IT THE WAY IT IS. Well I went to pick up my *** Joe had some one take all snow and ice off vehicle, and here was ice on top of snow, and freezin rain and about 5" OF SNOW. SO WHEN I GO OUT TO START MY VEHICLE I NOTICE THE WIND SHIELD IS CRACKED, NOW iM INFURIATED. I HAD JUST HAD THIS VEHICLE INSPECTED, BY *** BRAKE, AND I THEN TOOK TO PROFESSIONAL TRANSMISSION. I HAD NOT EVEN DROVE IT IT WAS THERE ABOUT A MONTH. I DID AT ONE TIME GO THERE TO GET SOME PAPER WORK I NEED OUT OF ***. THERE WAS SNOW ON IT, AND IT SEEMED AS IF THIS VEHICLE WAS NEVER MOVED. SO I GOT IN AND STARTED IT UP. iT STARTED, I NEVER MOVED IT. I LOOKED AROUND IN VEHICLE WINDSHIELD WAS NOT CRACKED., BUT WHEN I GO DOWN THERE TO PICK IT UP, AFTER IT WAS CLEANED OFF, I WENT IN TO GET JOE, AND SHOW IT TO HIM. HE TRIED TO SAY WE DID NOT DO IT. I SAID LISTEN I HAVE NOT HAD THIS VEHICLE AT ALL, IT WAS NOT CRACKED WHEN I BROUGHT IT HERE, NOW THE WINDSHIELD IS CRACKED. HE SAID WELL I DON'T KNOW HOW WE DID IT. I SAID WELL I'LL TELL YOU, WITH ALL THAT ICE, AND SNOW ON THIS VEHICLE, WHOM EVER YOU SENT OUT THERE DID THIS, YOU COULD NOT JUST BRUSH SNOW OF BECAUSE CAR WAS COVERED IN ICE AND SNOW, AND ICE AND SNOW. NOW HE WAS UPSET, BUT NOT HALF AS UPSET AS I WAS. HE STROMED BACK IBN THE BUILDING TELLING ME HE WOULD TURN IT INTO HIS INSURANCE, WHERE I RECENTLY HAD IT FIXED, AND HE WAS BILLED FOR IT. HE SAID I WILL FIX THE GLASS BUT IM NOT FIXING THE TRANSMISSION.

We would like to introduce ourselves, we are Joseph G and Richard M
from Professional Transmission & Converter Corp.It has been brought to our attention that a complaint has
been filed by Mr. ***, complaint number ***. We at Professional Transmission &
Converter Corp. take pride in our work and go above and beyond working with
customers. We staff 25 employees with a
location in Massachusetts as well. We provide
*** to over 100 transmission shops throughout the northeast. On July 31, 2014 we did rebuild a 1999 *** 2 wheel drive
transmission for ***’s *** and ***’s *** paid us for the work
that was completed. The vehicle at the
time had 127,998 miles. This vehicle was
owned by Mr. but brought to us by ***’s *** Service. Our rebuilt transmission warranty is 12
months / 12,000 miles whichever
occurs first and covers both parts and labor. This has been our warranty policy since we
started in business 38 years ago. On January 3, 2017 two
and half years later, Mr.
was beginning to have transmission issues again and asked us directly to check
the vehicle. The mileage on the vehicle
at the time was 138,983. We explained
to Mr. that he was no longer covered under warranty even though he had
put 10985 miles on the vehicle, the time of more than one year had lapsed. To show good faith, we offered to put another transmission
in the vehicle for $800.00 including all parts and labor. Again he was given a 12 month / 12,000 mile parts and labor warranty whichever occursfirst. Now, it has been nearly 3
years since the second transmission and Mr. is beginning to have
transmission issues again. He is no
longer covered under warranty with us due to the lapse of time. Although we tried to show good faith again
with Mr., there is no quick fix. In this case, we have a 2 wheel drive light weight vehicle that is close
to 20 years old in the northeast. These
vehicles rely immensely on consistency of the electronic and computer
systems. The computer controls all shift
points and pressures of the transmission. Input and output readings from sensors throughout the vehicle are
crucial, furthermore, if you have been in the northern environment for an
extended period of time, you have certainly experienced 2 wheel rear drive
transmission issues in the snow and ice. The busiest time for any transmission repair facility is in
snow storms and cold weather. Rear
wheel 2 wheel drive transmissions are very vulnerable in these conditions. All major vehicle manufacturers have moved to
front wheel drive traction control systems and all wheel drives to help eliminate
these problems. Also due to the age of
this transmission, major auto part
manufacturers no longer make updates or fixes to help eliminate the problems
that reoccur over time. The rear wheel
drive transmission in this vehicle is a version of the *** transmission
and is very small and in our opinion undersized for this *** Explorer. If workmanship was an issue here, the
transmission would not have lasted more than 2-4 weeks. When Mr. came to pick up his vehicle, he informed us
that the windshield was cracked and that this had happened while it was parked
in our lot. We paid for another
windshield for his vehicle and had it installed.We are deeply disappointed in the complaint but we have
honored our warranty at all times with Mr. and we do not feel obligated
for any further restitution.
