Review: Painter placed plastic cover over artificial turf in back yard to keep it from getting painted from the sprayer. When the plastic was removed several days later, the artificial turf was all curled up, faded, and discolored where the plastic had been. Where the plastic had not been, the turf was still it's original green. Artificial turf vendor has examined the turf and advises that the turf has been destroyed beyond repair and needs to be replaced.Desired Settlement: Artificial turf vendor advises replacement costs are $4650.00

Dear Ashlley,

RE: complaint # [redacted]

Please note that Progressive Painting contacted me immediately after your inquiry. They have settled this matter to my complete satisfaction. The issue was a failure to communicate. I am hereby withdrawing this complaint. The issue is settled.

Thanks for your help.

I was pulling into my driveway and noticed a van from Progressive Painting, LLC in front of my house. Once I parked and exited my vehicle I was approached by a representative from this company saying they work in this area and wanted to give me an estimate for the painting of the exterior of my home. That should have been a red flag to me, but I was foolish and accepted the job.

Once I accepted, I was called about choosing the product and was told that 100% acrylic paint would cost more. I responded with the fact that the contract said the house would be painted with 100% acrylic paint. I was then urged to buy another upgraded paint. Should have seen another red flag, but again, I was foolish.

My house was pressure washed the next day (Saturday) and the crew that did so were very polite. However, several electrical outlets have not worked since.

On Monday, the crew showed up on time (6:15 am) and began painting. By the time I arrived home from work they were near completion. The fact that they were near completion immediately raised a red flag. There is no way an entire 2100 sq ft house could be painted in one day, not without prep work, and definitely not without priming necessary surfaces. In fact, when I pulled up, they were spraying directly over the old coat of paint on the trim. I walked around the house and noticed they did do a fairly good job on the body of the house, but the trim (all wood) was not sanded or primed. It looked horrible. I assumed that they'd be back another day. I was then asked what color my garage door was to be painted, I told the crew it was to be painted the same color as the trim. Those instructions were ignored and they painted the garage doors with the paint that was supposed to go on the rot-iron fence surrounding my pool. They were then told again that it was the wrong color. By this time the alarm bells were raging in my head and I had to call the owner.

I called Ken and with music blaring in the background he answered the phone. I stated that the job was lackluster and his response was immediately alarming. "EXCUSE ME?!" - Was the response given by Ken. I stated my reasons saying the trim was not sanded or primed and looked just as bad as the previous paint. He responded in a combative manner and raised voice (loud enough that my wife could hear) that they do not sand all wood, only where necessary. I said that is all fine but 1) The house was not sanded at all and 2) The contract stated "Sand all wood." The response I was given was "My guys put a lot of effort in this house, I went by personally." I did not question the effort, I questioned the quality. I was then told that he could tell that this "was not my first rodeo and that I expected my house to look brand new.." I guess he was implying I was a con artist and No, I did not want my house to look brand new but to look newly painted would have been nice. No, I am an average dude who just happens to be somewhat handy as well. He then stated that he'd be back the next day, but his tone overall left me nervous for my family, and by the end of the job I had still not talked to him in person.

The crew did come back the next day and my wife questioned the lack of sanding and primer and she was told that if they sanded it would ruin the wood so they did not sand and that the paint had primer mixed in and not to question the job as they have 35 years of experience. I then returned home and asked about the sanding and priming and was told they did sand (after telling my wife they couldn't) and that no priming would cover up the wood and the wood needed to be replaced. Fine, I had 3 separate reputable contractors give me bids prior to this job. Not one said the wood had to be replaced. To be fair though, the crew was friendly. Another coat was applied and it does look better, but nowhere acceptable. But due to the combative nature of the owner Ken, I no longer wished to speak to him. Matter of fact, I will be paying another company to do the job right.

At the end of the job, we were told that they only accept cash or check made out personally to the owner, Ken (not Progressive Painting). That was not in the contract and that clearly shows they are aware of the scam they are pulling. I am sure I will be contacted and threatened by the owner for this review. Bottom line ...stay away and don't welcome this company on your property.

It's was my lucky day when I found a flyer on my door for Progressive Painting llc.
Ken came out gave me a very fair quote and in three days my house was power washed, repaired where needed and painting with a high duration paint. It looks better then original paint. I have and will recommend them again.
