Progressive Waste Solutions Reviews (11)

In regards to the letter sent on Monday, September 11, complaint id: ***We have credited the customer's account per their request for one week where we did not service themWe apologize for the inconvenience, and the hold times in our call centerWe have been dealing with the local
phone company on their side of the problem leading our customers to have difficulty reaching us.Regards,
*** ***

I have been a customer of Progressive Waste Management for about 5 years in Whitesboro, Texas. For the first three years everything was fine, but the last two years have been hit and miss. They are suppose to pick up our trash every Thursday but once a month, they skip us. When you call, they get defensive and start making excuses. I pay $85 a month for them to pick up my trash and for them to not be customer friendly is inexcusable.

I may add that I contacted the company today and they said they didn’t pick up our trash this last Thursday because it was too wet and they were afraid they would get stuck. The dumpster is in the same exact place it has been for the last 5 years. It was originally placed parallel to our rock driveway. They have moved it facing sideways just off of the driveway for the last two years. It has never been a problem until today. I asked them when they plan to pick up our trash and they said next week, maybe. They didn’t pick my trash up but plan on charging me for this week. I probably will be looking for an alternative trash company.

I cancelled my service early and I haven’t received my refund. When I call the office they say I’m due to receive $47 back and transfer me to acct dept. I have to leave a message and they never call back. I was told in June they would cut me a check in July. Well it’s now Aug 10th and no money. Today a gentleman or excuse me “ a man” cuz he was rude tried to transfer me again to acct dept and I told him no cuz they never call back. He hung up on me. I guess they will never pay me and as far as I’m concerned they have stolen my money. If I didn’t pay on time they want to cut you off but they don’t want to refund your money when you cancel. My next step is to announce this to my community on Facebook to warn other people not to use them. I live in an area of military families who get transferred and I’d hate to see them have their money stolen too or anyone else’s.

Hello [redacted]- your normal service day is Thursday. We ran last week as normal, did not observe MLK holiday, so if you placed carts out on Friday you would have been missed, but not to any neglect/failure of our employees. Billing is done from the corporate office, not locally, but I can pass the...

message on to them to remove the “D” from [redacted].     For future reference here are the holidays we observe- New Years(unless falls on a weekend), Labor Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas(unless falls on a weekend).   Thanks- [redacted]

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me; although this doesn't explain other previous incidents where they failed to pick up on time. I will insure that my trash is put out every Thursday, regardless; and see how it goes, going forward.
Regards,
[redacted]

I have been with progressive waste for quite a while. I came home today and found my can gone. Called to see what was wrong and was told I didn't pay an invoice I did not receive. Talked to one of the stooges in Shreveport and was told it was sent out in Aug 2017, I checked and it was paid in Aug 2017. Then I was told it was sent by mail in Aug 2017 although I was on electronic invoicing. None was received. Then I was told it was sent out in Sept 2017 by mail. Guess they haven't figured it is supposed to come electronically even yet. Called to pay invoice and was told it was 58.17. They couldn't seem to get the card to go so we called the bank and the banks end was ok. Called back and tried to pay the invoice and they ask if I wanted to continue service. I would have but then they wanted to add $20 to redeliver the can that they shouldn't have picked up in the first place. They said they couldn't call me at a number that has never been mine. If I ran a business like they do it would have to be a trash business because that's how they handle theirs.

Review: I am the president of a small condo association. I entered a contract with Progressive in December 2012 for trash pick up twice a week, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Since mid-December, Progressive wholly stopped picking up our trash unless I called to ask them to pick it up. I called approximately 30 times within a 5 week period -- nearly daily trying to get our trash picked up. Since mid-December, Progressive picked up our trash without these phone calls only once, and they picked up our trash 1-5 days late, if at all. We had about 5 missed trash days. As mentioned, I constantly called, and I repeatedly requested to speak to my supervisor, [redacted] called me once, on January 6th. After that conversation, we still did not get pick up without calling. Our contract with Progressive provided that if Progressive was breaching the contract (which they were), I could send written notice of the breach, and if Progressive did not cure within 10 business days, I could cancel the contract. The contract did not specify the form for "written notice." On Monday, January 19, 2015, I sent written notice (with a caption saying "Notice of PWS' Breach of Contract") via fax and certified mail, using the fax number and address listed on my contract. I have the fax receipt, and the letter receipt, which shows the letter was received on January 22nd. In this time, I also called daily to get pick up, and I asked to speak my supervisor, who refused to speak with me. I did speak to [redacted] and I informed him I sent a written notice of breach. I sent follow up notices of breach on January 22nd and 26th via fax. Progressive missed trash pick up on January 31st, so on Monday, February 2nd, I sent a letter canceling via fax and certified mail (received 2/4). I left a voice mail with my supervisor ([redacted]). I've since spoken to [redacted], [redacted] and [redacted] asking them to pick up their cans. Today, [redacted] said they have no record of my cancellation and I needed to talk to [redacted] (who won't call me).Desired Settlement: I would like Progressive to acknowledge I properly canceled their contract, effective February 2nd, and to pick up their property (their three trash cans) immediately. I also will not pay for any further service.

Business

Response:

This complaint has been resolved as this contract was cancelled and containers are scheduled to be removed today.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 10434456, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Regards,

The cans were picked up on February 6th. However, I also received an invoice on February 7th for last month (which was paid), and for this entire month. Not only did I receive an invoice for this month, but there was an increase in the amount owed, from $80 to $90.70, without any prior notice or reason for the increase. I want to confirm that no more amounts are owed on the account.

Business

Response:

Yes, this invoice was sent out as it was already generated however it will be reversed and there will not be a balance.

Review: Hi I am complaining about Progressive Waste Solutions because of the way they are handling business. Back in March and on other occasions I have called them to pick up a small dumpster at my place of business. I had decided to go with another company because they would come dump when they seen fit not when you needed it. I always had to call them. Unfortunately accounting did not realize we were not with the company anymore and I was paying them from October 2013 to March of 2014. I have called and spoke to a couple of people asking for a refund and they refuse to give me my money back knowing very well no dumps were being made at my business. Its not my problem they did not come pick up the dumpster after multiple times of asking them to pick it up. I am asking them to be fair and give me my refund or a credit for future use of something else. It is hard to believe they will not refund my money knowing I was not using there service. I am asking them to review this and do what is fair as a business and do the right thing. Thank You, [redacted]Desired Settlement: I would like them to pay me from the months of October 2013 to March 2014 for what I was charged for each month. The amount comes to $901.44. Thank You.

Response:

Good Afternoon,

I attempted to reply to the attached complaint online but I was experiencing some difficulties. Therefore, I decided to send the information to you and have you process it for me, per your below email.

After reviewing the records we have on file concerning Mr. [redacted]’s complaint, I do not believe we owe Mr. [redacted] any money. On June 16, 2012, Mr. [redacted] signed a month-to-month contract with our company, Progressive Waste Solutions, for garbage service. Our customer service clerks, accounts receivable clerk, & dispatchers all post notes on each customer’s account for every call that they handle. The last notation we have on Mr. [redacted]’s account in the year 2013, was on August 14, 2013 when Mr. [redacted] contacted our office concerning an ETA on the dumping of his garbage container. The next notation after that was on February 19, 2014, when our driver went to empty the garbage bin, he noticed another disposal service container in the place of ours and could not find our bin. Therefore, our dispatcher contacted the customer, Mr. [redacted], which stated that he no longer wanted our service and had signed an agreement with another garbage service provider. Because of this, our dispatcher noted his account as a cancellation notation on February 19, 2014. On February 28, 2014, in error, we billed his account for March services because our billing cycle bills in advance. However, this amount will be credited due to the cancellation notation in the month of February. This credit will leave his account with a zero balance.

Due to the above stated reasons, we feel we do not owe Mr. [redacted] any money because his cancellation notification was in February and his contract was on a month-to-month basis.

If you should need any further information, please feel free to contact either myself or Mr. [redacted], our District Manager.

Review: I pay Progressive to pick up trash at my business--a cafe--twice a week and with much frequency it doesn't happen. I call they say they're going to send someone and often I don't see anyone until my next pick up day. Trash was supposed to be picked up this past Friday--no one came. We called and were assured it would be taken care of-- it's Monday evening and there are days worth of trash sitting outside of my business. It has happened so many times now it's almost ridiculous.Desired Settlement: I want out of my contract. If you can't perform the service I'll find someone who will.

Response:

After receiving the information above, I called Ms. [redacted] back to discuss the service issue. I asked a few questions in regards to the stop, as it is serviced twice a week on Tuesday's and Friday's on two different routes due to areas of service on those days. I reassured Ms. [redacted] that this issue would be addressed with both drivers. I will need to further look into the issue as to why the missed pickup ticket was not resolved, but to eliminate any further problems I gave Ms. [redacted] my field operations supervisor phone number as wellas my contact number to make sure that she gets the service that she is currently paying for. The stop was picked up today, its normal day of service and cleaned up as well. Sincerely,Eddie W[redacted]Operations ManagerChalmette, La.

Review: I am handicap with a handicap sticker on my trashcan. Progressive waste refuses to pick up my trash can in my driveway. It has been five pick up dates that they have not emptied my trash. My trash is starting to smell has maggots in the trash and overflowing. I have listed down on paper that I have called 27 Times in a two week period and they keep telling me that they will be out that day to pick it up and they never show up to pick it up. They will not give me a supervisors name and a supervisor does not call me back like they said they would. I need to take legal action or do something about this issue.Desired Settlement: I need my trash picked up on the schedule days it is to be picked up

Business

Response:

After having my supervisor [redacted] investigate the situation, it was determined that missing of this handicap stop was due to changes in personnel on that route. We have implemented a list of special stops that will be attached to all route sheets as well as specify each address needing the special services that will require that each driverrecord the time the cans were serviced as well as sign off verifying the pickup. My supervisor has given [redacted]s his direct phone number as reassurance to him that we are handlingthe issue at hand.
