Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:I appreciate the fact that DrPacifico took the time to
elaborate on all of those points in his responseI am also a little unsure of
where he is getting his numbers regarding account balances, neither here nor
there that is not the issue at this point
Here are my thoughts on the issue:
I believe there were issues highlighted in the response that
were unnecessary, and did not focus on the issue of the complaint
As the patient it is my right to choose or refuse any type
of treatment, and is my right to choose where I have those treatments
preformed
The complaint is, I had an implant started at Pacifico
Dental, and am choosing to have it completed at another practiceTherefore,
since I have paid up front for the complete implant process, and am not having
the complete implant process done at Pacifico Dental, it would only seem
logical that I am owed a refund for the work that this facility has not
completed
I have a complete treatment planned that was given to me by
Pacifico Dental, for work not yet completed, and it states for tooth (the
implant site) ‘Implant Supported Crown’ with the price being $1,and ‘Prefabricated
Abutment’ with a price being $
These two items have NOT been completed, nor will they be completed by Pacifico
Dental, therefore, there is no reason that a refund has not been given
I know that the estimate for insurance to pay is $940, and
that is for the whole implant process
I will say again, if a refund is/was given to me and the
estimate for what insurance is going to pay is wrong, I would be more than
happy to pay a bill for the work that was done
The last conversation that was had between DrPacifico and
*** ***, DrPacifico said that he had put in a request at the office for
at least a partial refund of the work that was not completedAccording to the
response that DrPacifico gave that would have been on 9/30/(since that is
the last call that he lists having talked to *** ***.) Today is 11/6/and
I have yet to receive any type refund
I have come to the point where anything that is told to me,
verbally or in writing, will be cause for me to question the validity of what
is being told to meIn my personal opinion this is a very unprofessional way
to handle a business/health care facility
I will not view this complaint as closed, from my side,
until I have received a refund for the work that was not completed by this
facility

Date: 9.9.201 5Hi [redacted],I am in receipt of the above captioned complaint. I have contacted record archives to get the notes on [redacted] and will respond once receive and review,Sincerely,Michael *. PDMD, Owner

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved]
 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:I appreciate the fact that Dr. Pacifico took the time to
elaborate on all of those points in his response. I am also a little unsure of
where he is getting his numbers regarding account balances, neither here nor
there that is not the issue at this point.
Here are my thoughts on the issue:
I believe there were issues highlighted in the response that
were unnecessary, and did not focus on the issue of the complaint.
As the patient it is my right to choose or refuse any type
of treatment, and is my right to choose where I have those treatments
preformed.
The complaint is, I had an implant started at Pacifico
Dental, and am choosing to have it completed at another practice. Therefore,
since I have paid up front for the complete implant process, and am not having
the complete implant process done at Pacifico Dental, it would only seem
logical that I am owed a refund for the work that this facility has not
completed.
I have a complete treatment planned that was given to me by
Pacifico Dental, for work not yet completed, and it states for tooth 19 (the
implant site) ‘Implant Supported Crown’ with the price being $1,345.00 and ‘Prefabricated
Abutment’ with a  price being $600.00.
These two items have NOT been completed, nor will they be completed by Pacifico
Dental, therefore, there is no reason that a refund has not been given.
I know that the estimate for insurance to pay is $940, and
that is for the whole implant process.
I will say again, if a refund is/was given to me and the
estimate for what insurance is going to pay is wrong, I would be more than
happy to pay a bill for the work that was done.
The last conversation that was had between Dr. Pacifico and
[redacted], Dr. Pacifico said that he had put in a request at the office for
at least a partial refund of the work that was not completed. According to the
response that Dr. Pacifico gave that would have been on 9/30/15 (since that is
the last call that he lists having talked to [redacted].) Today is 11/6/15 and
I have yet to receive any type refund.
I have come to the point where anything that is told to me,
verbally or in writing, will be cause for me to question the validity of what
is being told to me. In my personal opinion this is a very unprofessional way
to handle a business/health care facility.
I will not view this complaint as closed, from my side,
until I have received a refund for the work that was not completed by this
facility.
Regards,
[redacted]

To whom it may concern,This letter is in response to the above captioned complaint. I will address her concerns in the order presented.(1)...

Summary of services provided for [redacted] came to our office for the first time on 5/6/15, and had subsequent visits on 5/7, 5/14, 5/18, 6/15, 9/14 and 9/24. For the services performed/ products purchased on those dates her charges totaled $3,263. So far her insurance has paid $60, she's paid $97 on a Visa card, and by check she paid $2,820, for a total $2,977. This leaves her current statement of account showing a balance of $286 owed us.(2) Treatment being "pushed" on her...[redacted] came in and presented with numerous areas of decay, which she found hard to believe since she states she's been going to the dentist regularly. Dr Joe spent 40 minutes showing her and her father the x-rays, explaining what he saw. I had two doctors review her X-rays and then used our [redacted] (decay) Detection System, the only FDA approved Xray analysis software to diagnose decay that has a 99%+ accuracy. The second doctor and the [redacted] system both confirmed Dr Joes initial diagnosis and treatment recommendations. offered to have her come in and we would be glad to show her the results of this computer analysis but she refused (see comments below re phone calls). also mentioned this to her father in hopes that he could get her to come in and see the remaining work she needs to have done.(3) Insurance claims...We do a significant number of implant cases like [redacted]'s and have found insurance companies difficult at best with their payment policies, hence our need to ask for payment up front. Once we billed the insurance we received no further response from them, either denials or requests for information. This is not an uncommon delay tactic we've seen with insurances. We contacted the insurance company and have re-submitted for the second time (a total now of three submissions) the information they wanted, despite our submission of this information previously. We have yet to hear back from them. Again, this is not atypical of insurance company behavior. We have also called her insurance and have been told (twice) that the claim is being processed.(4) Phone calls...[redacted] states that messages were left for me, implying that I did not make an effort to address her concerns. This is just not true. I pulled my [redacted] phone bill and found the following:Calls to [redacted]...on 9/13/15 at 8:46PM there is a 2 minute call to [redacted], where called and left a message for [redacted] to return my call. on 10/5/15 at 3:22PM there is a 1 minute call where again left a voice mail to Call. on 10/5/15 at 3:59PM there is an 11 minute call, during which I explained her treatment, including the review of her X-rays by two doctors and analysis via the [redacted] system previously mentioned. also reviewed the financials, explaining that at this point the total amount for the services we provided for her exceeded hers and insurances payments by $286. also assured her more than once that as soon as we receive payment from her insurance that would put her account in a positive credit situation I would gladly refund her any amount that was over what she owed us.Call to [redacted]'s father, [redacted], who also called me about the account, and I called him back as follows...on 9/30/15 at 12:36 PM there is a 7 minute call. During the call explained to him what explained to [redacted] re: 2 doctors reviewing her X-rays, the use and offer to have him and/or [redacted] come in to show the results of the [redacted] analysis, and the situation with her account/insurance/balance. I also assured him, as did [redacted], that once we received any insurance payments and there was a credit balance with us would be happy to refund her money. At this point cannot justify refunding [redacted] any money since she has an existing balance. Once the insurance pays (IF they pay) will be more than happy to refund every penny of credit due her. Given the number of times that I told [redacted] and her father this information I am surprised and disappointed she proceeded to file a complaint with the Revdex.com.If documentation is needed re: account charges/payments, copies of phone records, etc please advise and will be happy to provide them.SincerelyMichael *.
