We arrived on the job, removed the old alternator to find it was not the same as the one the customer purchased. The casting and the bolt alignment was completely different. It would be like putting a square peg in a round hole, it was just the wrong one.  See Attached: (Exhibit A shows the...

alternator the customer purchased. Exhibit B and C show the correct style of alternator that was removed from the vehicle.) [redacted] couldn't find a listing for the correct alternator under a 2005 Mercury Sable until they went back to a 2000 model. This is not uncommon, different year models often carry the same replacement parts. In hindsight, we would not have mentioned it to the customer because it just bred confusion and led them to believe we were incompetent.  Although, [redacted] did not have the application for this particular alternator or the employee couldn't find it....The fact is that we did cross reference the 2005 and 2000 alternators with [redacted]. There are two applications for the for the 2005 Mercury Sable the one the customer purchased (Exhibit A) and the one that was removed from the vehicle (Exhibit B). They are both for the 2005 Mercury Sable. The one the customer purchased just so happened to be the wrong application. We also cross referenced the 2000 model specifications to find they are in fact interchangeable. (See exhibit B and C.) Also, (See exhibit D) which shows two alternator applications for the 2005 Mercury Sable. We did our due diligence prior to installing the alternator. The correct alternator was installed in the vehicle. A 12 volt 130 amp alternator.
 
The father called us back and explained there was an issue. We told him that we would come out and take a look. The daughter was supposed to contact us to schedule an appointment and she did not. We also told the father that if the alternator wasn't the issue then we could find out what the issue was and a diagnostic / service call would be $85.00. We do not charge customers to double check our work.  If the alternator was bad out of the box we will never know. If you look at the facts and understand the attached documentation you will find that the alternator returned was incorrect and the alternator installed was the correct one whether or not it was a 2000 or 2005 part number all the specifications are exactly correct. The father and the daughter were very nice people. It is our understanding that the mother is the person implementing a slander campaign across the internet prior to getting our side of the story or picking up the phone to resolve the matter. On the sales receipt (Exhibit F) it clearly states the following:
 
"On site repair services carry a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty on workmanship (unless otherwise specified). Parts are warrantied as specified by the manufacturer. Any warranty claim must first be raised with ProMobile Automotive. We do not reimburse customers for duplicate work or corrective work performed elsewhere. For more information visit [redacted]"
 
We have no reason legally or otherwise to reimburse this person.
