My wife and I rented a 3 bedroom apartment from Promontory Point for 2 years, We moved in October 2013 and moved out November 2015. When we first moved in it was great, management, maintenance and landscaping were great. Ever since the New Management took over, this place really went down hill quick. People in office are rude, maintenance was just there for a paycheck and the landscaping was neglected. For whatever reason, the apartment manager would never get on the phone, (very shady person, must be hiding something) Due to all that and because they were raising our rent, (supposedly that apartment was in "demand") Is the reason we moved out, (the apartment is still not rented out, 2 month later). The main reason for our complaint is because of the way we were treated and ripped off upon move out. We had 1 dog and 1 cat when we moved in, We paid Pet Deposit ($250.00) and Pet Rent each month ($25.00 Cat, $35.00 Dog). After living there 1 year, our dog passed away, so we only paid $25.00 Cat rent for the remaining year. So basically we paid $1020.00 for Pet Rent and a Non-Refundable Pet deposit of $250.00 = $1270.00 total just for our pets. When we gave our 60 Day notice to move, which was a requirement, we were told to make sure the carpet if professionally cleaned with a receipt for proof and make sure the apartment is cleaned to "move in ready", which we did. Actually the apartment was cleaner then when we moved in. Nothing was broke, everything was clean as agreed on because we wanted our $250.00 Security Deposit back. When I tried to call and schedule an appointment for the final walk through "which was a requirement" I was told they don't schedule the walk through, we would just have to show up and hopefully the "maintenance manager" would be available. Very inconvenient since I was trying to do this over my lunch hour. I showed up to do the walkthrough, turned my keys in and met the "maintenance manager" at the apartment, all he did was immediately changed the locks, walked in the apartment and didn't look at anything and stated that they automatically charge $90.00 for cleaning and that they will have to have the carpet cleaned again because we had pets. I told him I already had them professionally cleaned and gave the receipt to the office with they keys. He said doesn't matter, it still has to be done, I told him that isn't correct and I am not paying more. He then told me that I need to pay it or it will get sent to collections. Im pretty sure I don't need any Credit Advice from a maintenance man! approx. 1 week later we received an itemized statement that basically took our whole Security Deposit (even though we lived up to our promise) that also had extra charges on it that did Not apply to us, Late Rent Payment $75.00, We weren't Late, $25.00 Service Fee, Have no idea what that was for, our final Utility bill, and the extra charges for them to Re-Clean the carpet $260.00. I called and confronted them about the Cleaning fee, Pet cleaning fee, additional charges etc. They basically said we are stuck paying those, there isn't anything we can do about it and if we don't pay, they will send it to collections. After not getting anywhere with the office staff and the chicken %$#% manager that avoids phone calls, I reached out to the corporate office in California. After multiple phone calls and no answer, I looked up their website. Sent an email and received a response that the person I was trying to reach doesn't work there anymore. So I then sent 3 more emails trying to get someone to contact me back, all about 1-2 weeks apart, without any success. About 2 month after we moved out and while I was trying to resolve this issue with their Corporate Office, They had sent the bill to a collection agency. So of course we didn't want our credit damaged by this irresponsible company, so we had to pay the bill. So just to have 2 pets, that caused no damage at this apartment, it cost us a total of $1620.00. The worst part about it and what proves that this company are thieves is that we still have friends over there, we still have access to the apartment area and we know the apartment is not rented out and since the window binds are up, we can see in, The apartment complex replaced the carpet, they never cleaned the old carpet like they told me they HAD to do because of our pets. My warning to all potential Renters is Turn and Run, you will not have a pleasant experience renting from this property management company. They will keep All of your deposit and will come up with extra charges at the end and they will not hesitate to send the bill to collections.

I also plan on posting many other reviews on the internet to warn people before they get ripped off like we did. Greenleaf Promontory Points apartments will take advantage of good renters. Buyer Beware, Bad Company!!!!!!
