Prompt Electrical Service

Review: On/about June 9, 2013, called Prompt and told them about our roof attic fan motor needing replacement. Just the motor, etc-nothing wrong with the roof vent and motor holder. Woman told me that it would be $99.00 for the house call . I requested confirmation it would be $ 99 plus "parts and labor" and told "yes". June 12th 'Will' came by to fix the fan. He had been told it was a 'ceiling fan' -- I had clearly used the word 'roof' and 'attic' on the call. He went and got the new motor and fixed it. He presented me with a whopping bill of $ 491.00 ($391 base plus $ 99 house call) that was totally outrageous & unexpected. He agreed to take $20 off and so I was charged $ 471 to my [redacted]. said that the price of these motors at Lowes and [redacted] was between $69 and $120. Told him that I would call the home office to complain.Turns out that right on the bill they left with us they categorize repairs into preset prices from 1-10 that goes from $ 64 (doorbells etc) to $1,111 (wiring a hot tub).SO THIS FIRM KNEW IN ADVANCE WHAT IT WOULD COST AND NEVER TOLD ME. PROMPT ELECTRICAL SET PRICE FOR AN ATTIC FAN ON THE BILL IS $ 391--HAD THEY TOLD ME THAT ON THE PHONE I NEVER WOULD HAVE AGREED TO THEM DOING THE WORK. On/about June 13th, I called the company back to complain about the huge bill. think I spoke with [redacted]. asked for [redacted] who was not available. She asked what I thought the cost should be and I said $200-250 absolute max. On June 14th. 'Allison' called back &told me that they could knock off $ 116.00 because there were coupons and including a [redacted] coupon. Why did they not tell me that on the phone when I placed the request ??? Bill ended up at $ 355.00 which is still outrageous.SHE SAID WOULD CREDIT OUR [redacted] ACCOUNT.AS OF THIS DATE JUNE 29TH 2 WEEKS LATER, MY [redacted] HAS NOT BEEN REIMBURSED FOR THE $ 116.00 THAT THEY STATED WOULD BE REMOVED.Also for company identity, the $471 charge on my [redacted] account online lists two different names but not "Prompt Electrical Service" It lists 2 others:1."One Hour Electical Heating "2."Doing Business As [redacted] "Desired Settlement: I would expect the company to reduce the price charged to $ 250.00 at the most and credit my [redacted] accordingly.

We do go over pricing prior to proceeding with work and that would be the place to address concerns or questions. As a service contractor our prices need cover overhead such as wages, insurance, gas , office vehicle and the list go on. We do use up front pricing, the price that is given covers the repair no matter how long the repair takes or surprises encountered., there should be no questions prior to the authorization of work. As a customer concession we have addressed customers monetary concern as requested.
