First, the vehicle owner had a $deductible and had not purchased rental insurance withhis insurance policyHe had decided to rent a car while the repairs were being done and he would pay this out of pocketThe daily rate for this rental was $per day.The original estimate to repair his
vehicle was for $An estimate is an estimate of the repairs and the time it should take to completed those repairsIt was originally scheduled in theshop for working daysThe owner was told this and was also told that we could and probably wouldfind additional damageOnce that happens we have to contact the insurance company for approval and then order the needed parts, wait for the parts and then get the vehicle back into production.Repairs were scheduled for Monday 2-20-I made arrangements to meet the vehicle owner on Sunday evening, 2-19-17, to get into the rental as vehicle owner had to be to work early Monday morning. The vehicle was pulled into the shop 2-20-All parts on the original estimate had been received the week beforeOnce the vehicle was torn down we found a lot more damage and missing partsWe had to figure out what parts were needed (the front bumper and everything attached to itwas missing from the accident). The supplement was sent to the insurance company on 2-22-We waited days for authorization after making several phone callsThen we had to order and wait for the additional parts. There was an additional $to this claim.Once we received approval and the parts we were able to continue with the repairs. The owner was kept updated throughout the repairs. My response to the owner’s comment that he was paying for rental while “he takes his good old time” is…1) It was the owner’s choice not to pay for rental to keep his insurance costs downNot my fault.2) I did not wreck his vehicleMy job is to put it back together to pre-accident condition.3) We do not take our “good old time”Time is moneyThe sooner we complete repairs, the sooner we are paid so we can pay our bills.4) I was able to get the owner a discount rate for his rental saving him $to help him out.5) The owner stated that he feels I should pay for half of his rentalAgain, it was his choiceto exclude rental from his policyThis is not my responsibilityRental insurance is notexpensive.6) The vehicle we repaired was not an ImpalaIt was a Jeep Patriot.I do not feel the owner has any complaintI tried to help him out as much as I could with the rental. With $10,damage to his vehicle twenty days of rental is not extensive. Please contact me if you need any more information.Sincerely,Mark * F*President
