Prospect Car Wash & Oil Reviews (4)

Review: On November 5, 2014 I had a an oil change at Platinum Car Wash and Oil in [redacted] The manager there is [redacted]. The following day, November 6, 2014 my oil light came on, and my car made funny sounds. I had to pull over. When I attempted to start the car it failed to start. I had it towed to [redacted] in [redacted]. On Friday November 7 my father, [redacted], [redacted] and [redacted] the service manager at [redacted] inspected the car and it was determined that the problem was a faulty oil filter. [redacted] took the filter to have it inspected. [redacted] took a picture of the filter. Approximately one month later I recieived a report from [redacted] of ** located in [redacted] that states the filter was not at fault. The photos of the filter presented with the report appear to differ from the photo [redacted] took. On December 26, 2014 I had my engine replaced with a rebuilt engine. [redacted] replaced the engine. Total cost was $3,968. I later sent a letter to Platinum Car Wash and Oil on January 7, 2014 asking for reimbursement. I have received no reply.

Bottom line a simple oil change should not have resulted in a ceased engine. I am looking for reimbursement because the work was done by Platinum Car Wash and Oil. All photos and documentation will be faxed to the Revdex.com.Desired Settlement: The repair has been completed. My desired outcome is reimbursement of the cost of the repair.

Response:

[redacted] submitted a complaint against Platinum Car Wash & Oil saying we put a faulty filter on his car, My mechanics did everything correct the complaint should be against the filter company, also like to add that we went above and beyond to have the filter tested and gave [redacted] all the correct paper work stating there was over pressure in his 2006 [redacted] with 148,000 miles on it. so I believe the complaint should not be against Platinum Car Wash.

Review: I brought my [redacted] for a routine oil change. While there, I was shown the car air filter, and asked if I wanted a new one.(I declined). Within hours, I started to experience car trouble (car was acting as though it was going to stall). It began to sputter and the service engine light turned on. My car lost power and I was unable to start my car. I had to have my car towed to the nearest [redacted] dealership ([redacted]). I was told by the [redacted] service department that the problem with my car was "the housing retainer clip for the air filter was missing so debris got into the car and damaged the mass air flow sensor-which needs to be replaced". This would suggest that the air filter was not re-installed correctly. The estimated cost to repair was $494.00. Platinum Car Wash and Oil were contacted three times, gave different information each time, and did not return phone calls as agreed-we had to call them back. When we called the third time, the employer claimed the owner takes no responsibility and that they have evidence that the air filter was properly reinstalled. I do not believe this to be the case given the description of the problem from the dealer and they were the last ones to work on my car.Desired Settlement: I would like Platinum Car Wash and Oil to take responsibility and reimburse me the cost of the damage/repair ($494). I should not have to pay $494.00 because of their mistake.

Review: I have been a customer for several years getting my oil changed and car washed. I moved out of the area and in nicer weather I go out of my way to get my car done there because I loved the car wash service. I sent my husband in April 2014 and when he came home it looked like it had not been washed inside Or out. I called and spoke to a manager that said next time I was in area to come in. I went back about a week later and explained what happened and I always loved the service prior. The girl said to me she would personally tell the guys make sure they wash it better this time. As soon as my car was done I noticed soap spots on the windows and doors. Glass was dirty inside, mirrors and poor vacuum job again. I called over the manager and showed him the car was dirty and explained I was dissatisfied. The manager did not care and said I didn't pay for a car wash it was free and if I wanted a better detailing done I needed to pay for it. I told him he would be losing a customer and he responded go! I don't care! Shortly after I left I called and asked for the owner. I was told he doesn't work normal hours, doesn't take customer calls and bounces around 4 different stores. I requested a call back regarding my complaint, I also called the other 3 locations to see if I could locate him which each store had the same story he's there when ever he shows up and doesn't take calls. I left my name and number at all four locations it's been 7 days I have not received any follow upDesired Settlement: Full refund of entire service.

Response:

Customer had only been twice in 18 months and car was far beyond just vacuuming and typical car wash. We rewashed vehicle and spent quite a few extra minutes redoing it trying to make the customer happy, windows were clean, door jams, etc. unfortunately the car was in such a dirty state that it needed a detail service to bring it to the quality the customer was looking for. In a nutshell she wanted a steak at a hamburger price and we even gave her a second hamburger when she wasn't happy.

Response:

The horrible attitude just gave more reason to never return. The car had no garbage on the floor, the car was not dirty Like they are stating. I even pointed out to the manger the windowes were not cleaned I watched the entire time. They simply don't care about customers I am so disgusted by the response I will surly share with EVERYONE !!! This company shouldnt charge you for a steak and give you a hamburger if they don't want complaints. I can get a car wash and oil change with MUCH better service anywhere else.

Review: In early February I drove into Platinum Car Wash to have the snow and salt washed off my vehicle. As I drove up to the attendant to pay, I noticed there was an issue with the car in front of me. The bumper on a woman's car was falling off, and she and the attendant were engaged in duct taping the bumper to the car. The woman was trying to determine whether it was better for her to back up and leave or just take her chances that the bumper would stay in place, and go through the car wash. The attendant was concerned about having to back up the line of cars that had formed while waiting for the woman's bumper problem to be solved.

When the attendant finally came to my window, I told him I wanted just a basic wash. He told me that for $30-something I could come back for the month any number of times I wanted. Since it was February and the weather was bad, I thought that would work to my advantage. The attendant did not tell me that I was signing on for an ongoing monthly charge. I returned in February for one or two more washes. I did not return after the end of February because I was not aware I had signed up for a ongoing car washing service.

My husband pointed out recently that our credit card had been charged for the months of March, April, and May. I was outraged to hear this. Those few car washes have cost me about $45+ EACH.

I want to be reimbursed for the months of March, April and May.

The attendant should have made it clear to me what I was agreeing to. I believe that he did not because he had been very distracted by the car in front of me. Either that, or the business routinely makes no attempt to clarify to customers that they offer these plans as ongoing plans; this would be a deceptive practice in my mind.

Today I stopped in to Platinum Car Wash to make sure the service was discontinued, and I was told that I could not be reimbursed.

If I knew that I had an ongoing plan, you can be sure I would have had my car cleaned many times over. Actually, I never would have agreed to an ongoing plan anyway because I don't have my car washed that often and I don't live nearby. I did not go because I was under the impression that the deal was for ONE MONTH ONLY—FEBRUARY.

If this issue is not resolved quickly, I plan to file a small claims suit against the company. If they lose, I understand they will have to pay my filing charges—$90—plus other expenses incurred.

My NOT showing up for car washes that I never knew I was paying for has not cost them anything. Therefore, it seems they have nothing to lose by reimbursing my money.Desired Settlement: Refund in full amount for the months of March, April, and May.

Sorry our program wasn't explained to you better, we try to do our best and have signs explaining the program throughout our site. Just come down and ask for a refund. You had no need to go to Revdex.com. We can track through our system to see that it wasn't used and will reimburse you for all months that were not used. This has always been our policy and always will, our goal is not to take advantage of customers but to offer them a great deal, unlimited car washes, at a fair price. Please ask for a manager on your next visit and he will look up your vehicle, make sure you are discontinued on our program and reimburse you for any unused months.
