Prospect College Reviews (1)

June 3, 2014Dear [redacted]: I am writing to respond to your inquiry dated May 27, 2014 regarding consumer [redacted]s complaint. We have left a voicemail message on **. [redacted]s number (###-###-####) asking her to contact us so we can respond to her concerns as stated in the letter. As...

instructed, the following is our direct response to your letter. The highlighted section on the section Customers Statement of the Problem are from Federal Regulations that govern our business. The reason it appears to be unorganized is that someone has copied and pasted the information from our web page (we are required to post them there) or other published sources. There are information there though which I must agree with **. [redacted] that may cause confusion. As one example, under Federal Regulations we must report the total Cost of Attendance (called COA) which includes meal and housing. It is true though that our institution does not charge for these items, but they must be disclosed to prospective students. We plan to invite **. [redacted] to talk to our Financial Aid and Business offices to explain this section in more detail.
The top part of the letter (not highlighted) contains information specific to our insti In the interest of time, Ill provide a brief and concise response.tutions policies.
This School is stealing money from the students. The president is very rude and obnoxious. No response.
Students are being told they get transportation stipends in the amount of 75.00 but are really getting 23.00-24.00 dollar even if they attend class all week. The advertisement states transportation but the School is taking 50.00dollars from the student to repay the loan from the school. TLC is among very few schools nationally that has a policy (not mandated by any state or Federal regulations or organizations) to reimbursethe students with good attendance for their transportation expenses. The use of the word stipend is incorrect as this is a reimbursement. We promote good attendance by reimbursing students with this expense that has been increasing (Metro, buses, parking).
It is also true that we have a component of the tuition that requires student paymentof around 43 per week. This is a weekly payment that is separate from any loans or grants that comprise total student tuition, and is due on a weekly basis. In cases where a student does not make their tuition payment, the school reserves the right to deduct it from any transportation reimbursement funds that may be available. If the student pays their weekly tuition on time and attends all scheduled classes, then the student will receive the entire $75 weekly transportation reimbursement. The assumption that a student must receive transportation reimbursement while skipping classes (being absent) and not pay tuition is unacceptable at any educational institution.
This is an option that the student has to choose but during enrollment after the school receives the federal money they are still requesting the student reapply to and for loans for what? This school is taking advantage of students that dont know about loans and grants process but want a better life to they apply to TLC. . There is no such thing as reapplyingto receive additional loans. Our disclosures are higher and more transparent than most other schools. Our refund policies favor students so much that we are reminded by Federal regulators about our option to keep more tuition fundsthan we do.
Then TLC see makes money of teaching with outdated materials and equipment that is not being used in todays clinics or hospitals. TLC [redacted]? Will not give the students information regarding the loans and grants once the School get the federal money. We follow all Federal and state regulations in the area of Consumer Disclosures.
Maintaining the public trust and the support of all local organizations including the Revdex.com is of utmost priority to our management. I am also enclosing pictures of posters in our Financial Aid Department highlighting the promotion of consumer awareness and transparency at our institution. Please note that there is no Federal requirement for us to post these types of material at our facility. Please do not hesitate to contact me at ###-###-#### if you have additional questions.
Regards,
