Two AC Units on my home.Filled one system with wrong r407 instead of r22,filled up other without leak testing and it all leaked out immediately
I am formally addressing the owners and service providers at Prosper Air, *** and ***. We need immediate service to try to salvage our main HVAC system. We believe it is at risk because of the following information listed within "Issue" in the Service Call 1 section.
We are also seeking a full refund for the second service call due to the circumstances. An HVAC system should not lose all of its refrigerant without a serious leak. We believe the leak should have been detected during the second service call so that all the refrigerant added by Prosper Air was not released into the atmosphere. Prosper Air offered no leak test on either unit. Bill Joplin was called in to fix what Prosper Air is clearly not qualified to do.
Service Call 1
Reason for Service call: Main HVAC Unit - Air from vents warmer than normal, house not cooling well
Date of Service: 7/20/2018
Actions taken: Remaining r22 (freon) evacuated from hvac system, replaced with r407c. Leak fix added
Issue: r407 refrigerant should not be added to an r22 mineral based system without adjusting the system (see below).

Solution: Refund at a minimum....my hvac system is now at risk to failure due to the wrong refrigerant (r407) being added to a mineral based compressor.
Cost of service call: $600.01
Service Call 2
Reason for Service call: Upstairs HVAC Unit - air from vents is warm upstairs not cooling.
Date of Service: 8/7/2018
Actions taken: r22 (freon) added to "empty" hvac system with leak fix.
Issue: System did not cool overnight as expected. Customer sent Prosper Air a text message @ 7:21am on 8/8/2018 to state the unit was still not working properly and it continued to blow hot air. Prosper Air responds they can stop by later. Prosper Air does not respond.
Bill Joplin HVAC services were called to review the issue. The technician discovered a major leak in the schrader valve. All r22 freon added by Prosper Air was lost.
Solution: Full refund for invoice 6448. Refrigerant was added to HVAC system without any refrigerant according to Prosper Air. At this time Prosper Air should've determined where the leak was, fixed it, then charged the system to test just like Bill Joplin did.
Cost of service call: $445.11
Prosper Air isn't qualified to perform additional service on my equipment. Full refund for both service calls requested directly to Prosper Air and denied.
We charged the downstairs unit as required by the EPA. The EPA has phased R22 refrigerate out and 407A is the best substitution. We performed a vacuum as required to replace the refrigerate per EPA guidelines.
We found the upstairs unit empty of refrigerate. We performed a leak check at the condenser and found none at the time. We informed the customer that he had a leak and the refrigerate was not guaranteed
to not leak out again. We received a text from the customer the next day saying the system wasn't cooling. We told the customer that we would be there later that day to find out what happen. The customer was on our schedule and 30 minutes before the customer called another company and that company told him that the refrigerate leaked out again and that they found the leak at the service valve. He told us via text that the company also told him the compressor was bad and the coil needed to be replaced. If the customer would of let us return and we would of found what the other company found we would of fixed the leak and not charged the customer for anymore refrigerate. Once another company touch the unit, we have no proof what happen and why. With dishonest companies out there, we don't know if they didn't cause the leak when they put there gauges on it. We informed the customer that since the refrigerate was not guaranteed that his invoice would not be refunded.
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Prosper Air's logic is flawed. For the upstairs unit with zero refrigerant, why not stick around to make sure it's cooling after filling it? This is common sense to ensure something is working properly. Also, HVAC systems don't lose all refrigerant without a serious leak. So when they showed up, they should've been responsible enough to offer and find the leak prior to leaving. It's an r22 system, the gas is detrimental to the ozone. Prosper Air reportedly filled the unit, I did not witness it but trust they did, and then left. The air coming out of vents upstairs was hot after they "fixed it". That means the leak was still present. They did not offer me nor provide adequate leak detection but yet charged me for a gimmick product "leak fix" liquid they put into the hvac system for $125.
With HVACs, you ALWAYS perform a leak test like Bill Joplin did when they came out. They go through a process to discover the leak through a series of tests, guess what, it was the schrader valve which was easily/quickly detected. Bill Joplin stuck around long enough to diagnose the issue and fix it then validate it was cooling. Took all of 5 minutes to send cool air the room once the shrader was fixed and the system was holding pressure.
Look, Prosper Air just needs to acknowledge their mistakes. Not a big deal, just learn from it and do what's right for the customer.
I am thankful not all companies operate like Prosper Air, if they did no homeowner could have their issues fixed! Imagine if reputable companies of the world said "no we wont return your calls or come out to discuss this with you because you called someone else". Ridiculous to say the least.
Do what's right
