ProStar Builders, Inc. Reviews (1)

To the Dispute Resolution Team:Prostar Builders, Inc(“Prostar”) has an A+ rating with the Revdex.com, and we work tirelessly to maintain that accreditation by providing the highest quality construction service possible to our customersOften those services relate to a claim for
property and casualty insurance benefits, and our professional staff ensures that we assist our customers with their claim and provide thorough and accurate information to the insurance companies. In 2015, Prostar assisted *** *** with a claim for a new roof due to hail and storm damageWe successfully negotiated with her insurance provider, ***, to get the claim approved, and we contracted with Ms*** to replace the roof on her residenceIn October, 2015, we replaced the roof, and her insurance carrier paid Prostar after inspecting the work. Shortly after the roof was installed, Ms*** reported a leak, and Prostar immediately responded. Prostar corrected the roof leak, and replaced flooring and other materials in the *** home, including flooring requested by the ***s that was not damaged by any water intrustion, at Prostar’s expense.Ms*** was happy with our work, and actually filmed a video testimonial for Prostar in which she praised our services and the work performed on her house. It was not until two years later, and in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, that she started vocally complaining about our company in attempt to obtain money from it.After Hurricane Harvey, Ms*** called Prostar complaining that her roof was leaking after experiencing monumental rains and wind over a very short period of time. As soon as the roads to her house were reopened, I inspected her house and talked to Ms*** about her leak concern. Upon inspection, I found that the roof was not leaking, but water was entering the house through cracks and holes in the siding, which was very old and rotting in places. The siding was never part of our scope of work when we replaced the roof in 2015.Despite the fact that the siding was not within Prostar’s responsibility or scope of work from the roof replacement, Prostar replaced the siding and reworked the roof where it met the siding as a goodwill gesture at no charge, but at a cost to Prostar of approximately $4,Nonetheless, Ms*** continued to complain and began demanding that Prostar pay her insurance deductible on the Hurricane damage claim that was approved by ***. At that point, she became more and more demanding and the relationship deteriorated to the point that we could do nothing further. When Prostar did not agree to give her that money, she filed this complaint with the Revdex.com.I have fully read Ms***’s complaint and disagree with substantially all of it, particularly those portions regarding the manner in which Prostar did its work and the quality of our work. Among other things:While Ms*** makes reference to obtaining inspection reports criticizing Prostar’s work, we have never been provided with any such report. It is our understanding that *** found that the damage sustained by the ***s in was storm related and not the result of any faulty work performed by Prostar. *** has paid the ***s for their damage claim following Hurricane Harvey. It is our understanding that it would not have paid the claim if the loss was due to faulty work by Prostar as homeowner’s insurance policies do not cover loss from a contractor’s faulty work.*** paid for the roof replacement in 2015. We have received no complaint from *** that we did not properly install the roof that it paid for. Had there been such a complaint we would have addressed it and performed any necessary corrective work at no charge. We have received no documentation indicating that *** has denied the ***’s storm claim for damage to personal property because the roof we installed was poorly installed. We are not aware of the work performed by Mike *** on the roof or the reason for it, but have been informed by the manufacturer of the roofing materials, Classic Metal Roofing, that it paid Ms***$2,to obtain a release in light of her insistent complaints to it as that amount was far less than the cost it would incur in defending against her complaints. While everyone at Prostar was saddened by the tremendous loss felt by the City of Houston resulting from Hurricane Harvey, we simply cannot take responsibility for all of our customers’ losses from a natural disaster as devastating as Harvey. If there is documentation from independent and qualified sources pointing to some deficiency in our installation of the roof on the *** home in that resulted in unacceptable water intrusion into the *** home, then we will, of course, re-evaluate the merits of Ms***’s complaints. However, at this time, we have not been provided any documentation establishing that our work two years earlier was defective and the cause of their loss from Hurricane Harvey. Very Truly YoursRoss ***
