Review: I hired [redacted] to install a 6ft wooden privacy fence - 140 linear feet. He quoted me $3,250. Contract included a 5 yr warranty. Contract stated 1/3 down, 1/3 when posts go in, then full payment when the job is complete. Contract was signed 11/5/14 and I paid $1100. The cost including all labor, materials, sealing, and staining was $3250. On 11/19/14, he installed the posts. He received another check for $1,100. 11/20/14 he advised me that he made a mistake. He stated the cost was off by $600. I ended up having to pay an additional $300 that was not part of the contract. The cost of the fence rose to $3,550. On 11/22/14, he stated he was not able to complete the job because he had insufficient funds to purchase the remaining material, etc. He requested a check for $150. He received the check for $150 early on 11/22. He returned later and stapled the boards to the rails. The fence shook quite a bit. Proud said that was "normal." He asked for full payment and promised to come back later and finish the job. He stated he was in trouble with another individual for cashing the same check twice and the individual was threatening him. He stated he needed to get to the bank before it closed. I paid him another $1,100 (total paid $3450). Shortly after he left, the bank, [redacted] called me to verify that Mr. Proud was not committing check fraud. On 11/24/14, the fence caved in on three sides. Several boards popped off. The staples used were not the correct length. The holes for the fence posts were only 1 ft deep instead of 3ft. The posts were placed more than 8ft apart in several locations (standard is maximum 8ft). Posts were placed 116", 117", 120",114", 111", etc. apart (I have all the measurements). The posts were placed into a shallow pool of cement and the mixture used contained too much water. 12 out of the 16 posts were not level. Latch was held together by a wire. Proud never returned as promised to fix the fence.Desired Settlement: [redacted] never returned as promised to finish the fence. The installation of the fence was so bad the fence caved in. My backyard is hazardous. I have to pay to have the entire fence taken down and rebuilt. I want a refund of my money, $3,450, so I can make my yard safe and have a functioning fence.

Review: The worst experience with a contractor I have ever had. Signed a contract on 4/23/13 to have a deck built around our swimming pool. On the contract, which is signed by both parties, it states the start day to be roughly 5/10/13. It is now 6/8/13 and no work has been completed. I paid 2000.00 of the projects total price of 5800.00 the day we signed the contract so materials could be purchased. A month later I was contacted on 5/24/13 and asked for a second payment of 2000.00. Once again I paid and was told it was to purchase the remainder of my materials which would be delivered the next day 5/25/13, which they were not. I am now 4000.00 into this project and nothing to show for it. [redacted] did show up on roughly 513/13 with about 15 framing boards that still to this day lay in my yard. He said that he didn't want to start because it would interfere with electrical work I was having done in my back yard. The electrical contractor said he was more than welcome to begin the deck as the power line being buried was already in the ground. He chose not to start even though everything was ok to begin. Recently, I found out that this move by contractors is called "spiking" the job. The wood he delivered is some of the worst I have ever seen.It has been one excuse after another with [redacted], the owner of the business. I have given multiple opportunities for the situation to be rectified, but it is always one excuse after another: employees quitting on him, him being sick, projects taking longer than expected, blaming inspectors, etc etc etc. luckily, I have all communication in the form of text messaging, which is permissible evidence. 100's of text messages filled with excuses, promises, and even an agreement to refund my 4,000.00 if the project wasn't started 6/5/13. Obviously it was not. I have the signed contract by both parties, 100 or so text messages between the parties, images of the checks I paid with. Testimony of neighbor and electrical contractor if needed, images of wood deliveredDesired Settlement: 4,000.00 paid immediately to me so I can get a honorable contractor to complete my deck. All I want is what I paid to Noah Proud.
