I have unfortunately been a customer since Tidewater this is the only option where I live for high speed internet I tried *** *** but was not able to get a decent signal, and also tired a Verizon Wireless hotspot, but the connection was throttled to a speed slower than dionce I hit the data cap (even though it was advertised as "unlimited" data) Satellite is of course available, but I am not considering anything with a data cap I upgraded in to their new fiber broadband at $a month for 10mbps (upload and download), which includes a mandatory land-line connection I do not use Yes, this is a very slow connection and extremely expensive, but it is better than the DSL I was getting from them previously which was even slower and the same price When I switched to fiber I was locked into a year contract with a $cancellation fee I just checked their website today and saw they now offer a 50mbps connection with better phone options for $ This is still comparatively expensive, but at least its an improvement I was irritated they didn't bother letting me know about the new plan, but many companies don't let you know about better deals, so I let it go What really irritates me is when I called to switch they still want to charge me a $cancellation fee and another $activation fee (to make a couple account updates) in order to switch to the new plan Naturally, they want to lock me into another contact, presumably for years with a $cancellation fee I sincerely hope my town opens up to competition so I can give my business to a more deserving company
It's unbelievable that it's and the best I can get out of Tidewater is a phone line with no long distance and DSL download speeds of 3Mbps (at best) for just over $a month I have to turn everything off in the house to be able to stream a movie That movie will come in grainy at best with no HD I've complained to Tidewater and I get different stories on fiber coming up my road The latest answer is it won't happen unless I want to pay over $10K myself The sad part is that they are my only option I have no cell service at my location due to being in a bit of a bowl so I rely on the for everything I do
