Public Agency Retirement Services Reviews (1)

Review: On March 3, 2014 I received a letter regarding unclaimed property and to contact [redacted] regarding this issue. I made contact with such agency via e-mail on May 2, 2014 and received some documents to fill in and returned which I did. I never received any response from [redacted], so I contacted such agency at 949-250-6369 and spoke with a gentleman named [redacted] who stated that a check had gone out. I advised him I never received anything in the mail, he then stated he would cancel said check and request for another one be sent to me. It has been a month now and I have yet to receive it. Today, I called the number 949-250-6369 and to my surprise the number is disconnected. I found another number on their website 800-540-6369 and there is no answer there. I would like to know what the status of my case is as no one seems to help me. I will also contact the [redacted] for assistance as this situation is frustrating and has been lagging for a long time now.Desired Settlement: I would like to receive my check of $366.42, which is the amount the [redacted] advised me on their letter stating this is the amount of my property that [redacted] has, as soon as possible. Hopefully before the end of this year. Thank you.

To whom it may concern:

We received Ms. [redacted]’ original distribution request on June 2, 2014. The claim was processed and the check was mailed out by our trustee [redacted] on July 21 to Ms. [redacted]’ address of record. Ms. [redacted] informed us on September 12 that she had not received the check. We then placed a stop payment on the original check, and a second check was mailed to her address by [redacted] on September 29. We were having phone service troubles with our provider [redacted] on October 6, which is the day Ms. [redacted] states that she tried calling our office and received the “number disconnected” message.

We received the [redacted] complaint on Oct 14 and called Ms. [redacted]hat same day. We explained our phone issues from October 6 and described what the check would look like: a pressure sealed envelope from [redacted] that does not say [redacted] on it. Upon our describing the envelope, Ms. [redacted] paused for several seconds, as if she remembered seeing the envelope and had possibly thrown it away. This is conjecture, but we hear this very frequently from other participants (“I thought it was junk mail”), and this is usually the reason that we have to ask [redacted] to reissue distribution checks. Ms. [redacted]hen said she would review her mail when she got home to see if she had received the check.

Having not heard back from Ms. [redacted] in over a week, today we checked the [redacted] website and saw that the check had not been cashed. We called her today to follow up and she said that she has not received the second check. We informed her that we will be placing a stop payment on the second check, that we will request a third check from [redacted], and we will be sending it to her address via [redacted] when it arrives next week.
